CHAPTER 514: CHAPTER 514: IT’S ACTUALLY HER

After a long silence, Violet Ford sighed almost imperceptibly.

"Violet, I won’t tell Yara what you said. But since you mentioned it, I won’t just let Yara suffer anyone’s disdain—I think it would be more effective for you to talk to Director Ford than to me."

Evelyn Clayton rationally understood Violet’s choices and statements, but emotionally, she would never allow anyone to insult her best friend.

"I think we should leave today’s conversation at this. Once you’ve discussed with Director Ford, it’s not too late to discuss it with me then."

She almost firmly bid farewell to Violet.

Violet seemed to regret her earlier words and said anxiously, "Evelyn, I was too harsh earlier, I just hope you can understand me!"

Evelyn paused slightly but eventually said nothing more and went straight upstairs after entering.

Back home, watching Franklin Ford’s car drive away, Evelyn called Yara Reagan.

However, the phone rang for a long time, and Yara did not pick up.

Evelyn pinched the bridge of her nose in frustration.

She knew that Yara must have felt somewhat upset after hearing what Violet said to Shirley Owens today.

Evelyn didn’t want to disturb her further; her eyes flickered as she pondered another of Violet’s statements—

Summer Monroe’s background.

Lynn Yates also mentioned Summer today. Combined with her observations of Harrison Grant and Summer, Evelyn had two bold guesses in her mind.

Could it be that the man in her memory whom even her father treated with great respect was Summer’s...

This thought flashed across her mind, and Evelyn shivered involuntarily.

As she was thinking, her phone suddenly rang.

Evelyn looked and saw it was an audio call from Gene Young.

She answered, her voice tense, "Officer Young."

"Miss Clayton, I’ve carefully thought over what you said today," Gene’s tone was solemn. "I must say, I’ve had my suspicions for a while, but I wanted to be sure after listening to you."

Evelyn pressed her lips together, touched by his words, "So, Officer Young..."

"Words are unnecessary, I have an old document I found from my father which I’ve photographed and will send to you now."

Gene was succinct and hung up after speaking.

Shortly after, a file appeared in Evelyn’s message box, sent by Gene.

She opened it to find that the photograph of the original document cover was quite worn and slightly yellowed, indicating its age.

Evelyn reviewed the contents closely, her expression growing more serious with each detail.

To her shock, the document listed Summer Monroe’s birth date and the hospital where she was born.

Evelyn nearly froze, meticulously and cautiously saving the images and noting Summer’s birthplace.

Only after putting the phone down did she feel a slow wave of excitement coming over her.

The next day, Evelyn announced another day off in the company’s group chat before heading alone to the hospital mentioned in the document.

It was an older private facility located in the city’s development zone.

Though remote, Evelyn knew it was not accessible to just anyone.

She kept a low profile, waiting in obstetrics.

The hospital wasn’t busy, and it only took twenty minutes for her turn after registering.

With her hat on, she didn’t draw attention, and just as her number was called and she was about to enter, she caught sight of a familiar figure out of the corner of her eye as she passed a railing.

She stopped slightly, looking down.

Was it really Summer Monroe?
