CHAPTER 515: CHAPTER 515: PSYCHOLOGICAL BURDEN

Evelyn Clayton didn’t enter the department; she watched Summer Monroe take the elevator to the first floor, then went down the stairs and left the hospital.

Back in the car, Evelyn drove away, her mind constantly pondering.

Summer had appeared quite cautious earlier, wearing sunglasses and a mask.

If Evelyn were not familiar enough with her figure, she might have mistaken her as well.

Although she hadn’t managed to find out anything today, she could basically confirm that Summer indeed has some kind of relationship with this hospital...

Parking the car by the roadside, Evelyn’s gaze slightly faltered, and after a while, her phone suddenly rang.

It was a call from Yara Reagan.

Evelyn answered, and Yara’s voice sounded muffled, as if she had just woken up.

"Are you free today? Can I come over to your place?" Yara yawned, "I finally have a day off, let’s have a meal together?"

Evelyn thought for a moment and declined gently, "I have some things to do today, maybe later. If I’m free in the evening, I’ll come to you."

Just as she was about to hang up, Yara suddenly called out to her—

"Evelyn..."

She hesitated, as if holding back something.

Evelyn paused, her tone slightly low: "Just say what you want to say."

"Don’t get me wrong." Yara’s voice fell low, "About yesterday, I actually don’t care much anymore. I never really planned to have anything happen with Franklin Ford... but I always feel he’s quite strange."

Evelyn’s heart tightened: "What?"

"He messaged me again this morning, asking what I was doing, asking if I could meet with him." Yara became nervous, "Did you say anything on the way back yesterday?"

This question left Evelyn unsure of how to respond.

She silently let out a breath and chose to conceal the truth, "We didn’t say much, and Violet Ford’s words yesterday were just a joke. As for Franklin, that’s up to you. If you want to meet him, meet; if you don’t want to, don’t feel pressured."

Yara didn’t know how much she listened to, but eventually, she just grumbled an okay and hung up.

Evelyn cast aside her chaotic thoughts and finally called Gene Young.

Gene seemed to be waiting for her call, picking up after just one ring.

Evelyn pondered, "If convenient, could I visit Officer Young today?"

Gene took a long time to think before giving Evelyn an address.

"I probably can’t accompany you today, but I’ll inform the sanatorium." Gene’s voice was steady, "Don’t stay too long. I’ve always suspected... someone is watching my father."

Evelyn’s heart was gripped with tension, making her extra nervous: "Someone’s watching?"

"That’s right. Though it seems the surveillance has been less in the past two years, go quickly and return, and there shouldn’t be any issues."

Evelyn furrowed her brows tightly, "Alright, thank you, Officer Young."

After hanging up, Evelyn opened the address Gene sent and turned the car around.

Jadenhill Sanatorium was quite a distance from the city center, but since Evelyn was already near the development zone, it took her only half an hour to arrive.

Parking in front of the sanatorium, Evelyn put on sunglasses and entered through the main gate.

After registering with the security, he eyed Evelyn for a few seconds before saying, "Please wait a moment, I’ll call someone to escort you."

Evelyn nodded, "Thank you."

The security made a call, said a few words, and soon a young girl came out.
