Flirted Wrong, Married Right
Chapter 520: Cannot Announce the Relationship
CHAPTER 520: CHAPTER 520: CANNOT ANNOUNCE THE RELATIONSHIP
By the time the two arrived at the hotpot restaurant, an hour had already passed.
As Evelyn Clayton pushed open the box door, she heard Yara Reagan’s swearing voice coming from inside: "Why so late? Even Iris Lockwood, who I called later, arrived before you—"
James Grant led Evelyn Clayton in, one behind the other. Iris Lockwood was the first to look up, and upon seeing them, she froze on the spot.
Yara Reagan was engrossed in passionately ordering dishes, completely oblivious to the scene at the door.
Finally, Iris Lockwood frantically elbowed her, and Yara Reagan then impatiently looked up, also stunned.
Her horrified gaze moved from Evelyn Clayton to behind James Grant, finally settling on their clasped hands, her expression more colorful than a spilled paint box.
James Grant was unruffled, leading Evelyn Clayton inside and taking a seat across from the two.
"Long time no see, you two." James Grant felt a strange sense of pride, sitting up straighter. "This meal’s on me today."
Evelyn Clayton nonchalantly let go of James Grant’s hand, allowing the two friends opposite to scrutinize them.
"Am I blind, or am I dreaming?" Iris Lockwood finally snapped out of it and said, dazed.
Yara Reagan had already shaken off the shock, her expression hard to describe, "It must be real; otherwise, in my dreams of eating hotpot, I usually wake up before the ordering stage."
"No—" Yara Reagan couldn’t hold it in any longer, standing to look at Evelyn Clayton, "Evelyn, come out with me!"
As Evelyn Clayton was about to stand, James Grant held her down, giving Yara Reagan a glance, sipping his tea, "If there’s something to say, say it here."
Yara Reagan almost laughed out of anger.
They weren’t even officially together yet, and James Grant’s face wore a "I’m the main one" attitude — what was he thinking?
"Fine, I’ll say it here." Yara Reagan simply sat down, her smile insincere, "Director Grant, what does this mean? Just after breaking off the engagement with Director Yates, you’re so eager? Aren’t you considering Evelyn’s situation at all? When the news spreads, won’t people think you broke off the engagement for Evelyn?"
James Grant replied indifferently, "I broke off the engagement for Evelyn."
Yara Reagan was infuriated.
Iris Lockwood awkwardly drank tea, her gaze drifting elsewhere.
"But rest assured, I’ll protect her and not let her get hurt," James Grant declared firmly. "In the future, she’ll be the only one for me; I won’t marry any other woman."
Yara Reagan sneered, "Ha, sounds nice, as if you could marry two. Once you two are actually married, if you dare to marry another, that’s bigamy and you’ll go to jail."
Iris Lockwood tried hard to suppress her laughter, thinking of all the sad things in her life.
James Grant was also quite vexed by Yara Reagan’s sharp tongue.
But he knew that to have a lasting relationship with Evelyn Clayton, Yara Reagan’s attitude was crucial.
"I just hope, as Evelyn’s best friend, you can support us," James Grant said seriously, his voice slightly deep. "I’m sincere, and I hope you can bless us."
Looking at James Grant’s handsome and profound face, Yara Reagan couldn’t help but have a moment of wavering.
Yet she still felt apprehensive.
She glanced at Evelyn Clayton, seeing that Evelyn seemed to have nothing to say, which likely meant she was willing.
Ultimately, Yara Reagan sighed in surrender.
"To be fair, I have no position to stop you. But Director Grant, times have changed. If it weren’t for the Yates Family incident, even if you wanted to be with Evelyn tomorrow and got married, no one would care! But you broke off the engagement with Director Yates and then quickly got with Evelyn... it’s inevitable that people will speculate outside."
As Yara Reagan spoke, her expression became more solemn.
"I have one requirement! For the next three months, you two cannot announce your relationship publicly. Wait until the matter of the broken engagement fades before bringing it to light!"
