Flirted Wrong, Married Right
Chapter 528: Julia Lawrence Is Dead
CHAPTER 528: CHAPTER 528: JULIA LAWRENCE IS DEAD
"Not very feasible." Rhys Jacobs spoke in a low voice, "Even without discussing whether Lucy Carter will listen to us, once the person who instructed Lucy to throw dirt on us spreads the news, it’s still difficult for us to handle."
Iris Lockwood was slightly anxious, "Is there no other way?"
Evelyn Clayton sat on the sofa, a flash of violence in her eyes.
"I have the surveillance video and recording from the meeting with Julia Lawrence at the time," Evelyn slowly calmed down, "This is our last resort. Right now, it’s best to find out the truth about Julia’s jumping and resolve this through proper legal channels."
She took a deep breath and calmed down, "Nothing has happened yet, the fire hasn’t reached us, things can still be settled, don’t worry."
Speaking of which, Evelyn stood up with her phone and walked to the bedroom.
She ignored James Grant’s call once again and dialed an unnoted number.
Ten seconds later, the call connected.
A woman’s voice came through the receiver, tinged with a leisurely laughter.
"Isn’t this Director Clayton? What made you think of calling me?"
Evelyn’s tone was icy, "Summer Monroe, if you’re free, can we meet right now?"
Summer laughed lightly, her smug demeanor almost creeping through the receiver, "I thought Director Clayton was always calm and collected, able to solve any issue. How come you’re finally in a rush now?"
"Summer, don’t forget about that surveillance video." Evelyn raised an eyebrow, her tone sarcastic, "You can use public opinion as a tool, do you think others can’t?"
There was a brief silence on the other end, followed by Summer’s disdainful hum, "Where should we meet?"
---
Evelyn did not tell Yara Reagan and the others where she was going. She drove alone to the meeting place with Summer Monroe.
She chose a restaurant near Gem as the location.
From the second floor of the restaurant, looking out the floor-to-ceiling window, one could see the entrance of the building where Gem was located, still cordoned off. Passersby deliberately avoided that area.
Evelyn ordered a bottle of white wine and sipped alone.
Twenty minutes later, Summer Monroe arrived late.
With an air of arrogance and indifference, she sat opposite Evelyn and raised her eyebrows at her, "What’s the matter?"
Evelyn’s eyes were cold, "Do I need to tell you what’s the matter?"
Summer’s eyebrows furrowed slightly, clearly very displeased, "Evelyn Clayton, you threatened me to come out here and you’re asking me?"
Seeing Summer’s impatience, a strange feeling arose in Evelyn’s heart.
Evelyn turned her gaze towards the building opposite, where Gem was located. Summer looked suspiciously and followed her gaze.
A moment later, Summer seemed to lose patience completely, clicked her tongue and said, "What exactly are you trying to say?"
Evelyn turned her head and stared at Summer for a long time.
Finally, she confirmed one thing.
Julia’s suicide, perhaps, had nothing to do with Summer.
Evelyn’s mind raced, unsure if Summer’s acting was too good, but at the same time feeling that, at this point, Summer had no reason to be pretending here.
"Didn’t you see today’s news?" Evelyn stared intensely at Summer, "Julia’s dead."
Summer’s expression finally changed.
Shock flashed across her eyes for an instant, along with genuine panic.
