Flirted Wrong, Married Right
Chapter 531: Can’t Let It Blow Up
CHAPTER 531: CHAPTER 531: CAN’T LET IT BLOW UP
Summer pursed her lips, the tension and fear finally easing a bit.
She said sullenly, "It’s all fine... it’s just that business has been really tough lately. That old coot Harrison Grant, he’s not afraid of me at all now!"
After a long pause, the man said, "I understand. In a few days, I’ll come over to your place, and have him meet me then."
Summer’s eyes lit up with joy, "Really? Can Mom and I come to see you then?"
The man’s tone seemed much gentler, "Sure, I’ll send Tian to pick you up then. Keep a low profile for now, and quickly deal with that news incident!"
Thinking about what Evelyn had said today, and then thinking about Soren, Summer felt a bit reluctant.
"But, this thing is most likely related to Soren. If Soren gets involved—" Summer bit her lip, "Soren is the only one around me who’s understanding..."
The man’s tone became stern, "He’s just a man! Is he really worth your attention?"
Feeling aggrieved, Summer clammed up and said no more.
After several seconds of silence, the man seemed a bit impatient, "Recently, a rookie cop was investigating documents related to Morgan Alden’s July 26 case. I suspect Evelyn might be involved! That girl seems to have grown more capable, and she might already know something—I’m at a crucial juncture here, so don’t mess with her!"
"If it really comes to it, without Soren, I’ll send you a couple more guys!"
Summer dared not argue further, reluctantly agreeing, "Alright then..."
The call ended, and Summer lowered the car window, venting her frustration by throwing the phone outside.
The driver was startled, picked up the phone gingerly.
The phone’s screen was shattered, and Summer said impatiently, "Get a new one, remember to take out the SIM card."
The driver nodded, preparing to drive away.
Seeing Summer’s dark expression, the driver mustered the courage to comfort her, "Director Monroe, don’t be upset. He must care about you, otherwise, he wouldn’t contact you the moment something happens."
Upon hearing this, Summer gave a sarcastic smile, momentarily remaining silent.
The driver was also arranged by that person. Although she could vent a little, she never dared to express any resentment openly.
It wasn’t just out of fear of him, but also because she feared he would ignore or abandon her...
"My good brothers are thriving now, making a name for themselves in politics. And what am I, anyway?" Summer muttered, a hint of hostility rising between her brows.
The driver paused for a few seconds, then couldn’t help but remind her, "You’d better sort things out before he arrives, or else he’ll definitely be upset."
Summer closed her eyes, saying nothing more.
The car returned to the villa, and as soon as Summer got out, she saw Heather Donovan standing at the front door, waiting for her.
"How did it go?" Heather asked anxiously, checking Summer over repeatedly, "Evelyn, that little witch, didn’t do anything to you, did she?"
Feeling a bit irritable, Summer responded, "What can she do to me? Kill me?"
Heather gritted her teeth, "That little witch is really getting bolder now, she actually—"
"Mom." Summer suddenly interrupted Heather, "I have two things to tell you."
Heather frowned, "What?"
"Julia is dead. Evelyn suspects Soren did it and wants me to find the person for her." Summer paused, "I got a call from over there, telling me to resolve this quickly and not let it escalate."
