CHAPTER 558: CHAPTER 558: CONCLUSIVE EVIDENCE

Upon hearing this, Felicia Preston’s eyes widened.

"What do you mean by that? Are you trying to shirk responsibility or what?" Felicia’s tone was full of threats, "I’m telling you, I came here specifically to find you today! Not everyone will be as easy to deal with!"

As she spoke, Felicia seemed to grow even angrier, "When you came to our home, I thought you were a good person! But now it seems, you’re just a black-hearted boss hiding harmful intentions!"

Evelyn Clayton remained calm and unruffled, smiling as she said, "Ms. Preston, when you speak, you need to provide evidence. Since you claim I forced Julia Lawrence to her death, you should at least explain why and how I supposedly forced her, and where your evidence is."

Felicia was momentarily speechless, then turned her gaze to her husband, angrily whispering, "Say something, David!"

David Lawrence’s expression remained wooden, looking as if he was still engulfed in the grief of losing his daughter.

But Evelyn Clayton always felt it wasn’t quite like that.

"I don’t care! In any case, I’m giving you fair warning here: as long as you don’t pay us compensation, I’ll come here every day to cause trouble! I’ll show everyone how your company bullies people!" Felicia shouted, her eyes wide with anger.

Evelyn raised her eyebrows with a smile, "So, you mean, regardless of any evidence or lack thereof, you’ll blindly attribute Julia’s death to us, right?"

"Hmph, don’t try to fool me!" Felicia sneered, "When did I frame you? The fact is, my daughter jumped to her death at your place! Even if it goes to the police, I’m not afraid!"

Evelyn patiently chuckled lightly, "And what if I refuse to pay?"

Felicia’s expression twisted for a moment, "If you refuse, then either be ready for a lawsuit or for me to make this known to everyone!"

"Alright then." Evelyn leisurely leaned back in her chair, "If that’s the case, it seems..."

She drew out her words, causing Felicia’s eyes to light up, "You’re agreeing then?"

"No." Evelyn leisurely took a sip of tea, "Then go ahead and sue us. I’m ready at any time. No matter how the court rules or how much I’m ordered to pay, I will give you every penny. But if you continue to cause trouble here, I will not be lenient."

Felicia’s expression suddenly changed, fueled by anger, "You—"

Evelyn sneered, raising an eyebrow, "What’s wrong with me? Felicia Preston, do you think I don’t know what your plan is? Dream on if you want to extort money from us."

Seeing Evelyn’s resolve, Felicia couldn’t hold back any longer and stood up angrily, "I don’t care! Julia is dead, and you have to pay me! Do you think I don’t know? Companies like yours are most afraid of gossip and bad reputation. If you don’t pay, believe it or not, I’ll put up signs at your doorstep every day, claiming you killed Julia. Let’s see who everyone believes then!"

Evelyn’s smile became enigmatic, "Oh? Are you threatening me for money?"

"What if I am!" Felicia looked defiantly.

Evelyn laughed out loud.

She stood up and lightly clapped her hands, "Good, very good. Rhys Jacobs!"

Rhys came in upon hearing his name, his expression no longer gentle, but cold and indifferent as he looked at Felicia.

Felicia was startled, "What are you doing, what are you planning to do?!"

"We can call the police again, submit the tapes and surveillance videos, declaring someone is blackmailing us, with irrefutable evidence."
