Flirted Wrong, Married Right
Chapter 561: I’ll Figure Something Out
CHAPTER 561: CHAPTER 561: I’LL FIGURE SOMETHING OUT
As she was pondering, Rhys Jacobs returned.
Evelyn Clayton went out to open the door for him, and seeing Rhys looking somewhat fatigued, she asked, "You’ve had a rough day. How did it go?"
"It’s fine." Rhys exhaled lightly, "The police have temporarily detained Felicia Preston for disturbing public order. Whether the extortion charge can be substantiated will take a couple of days for evidence review before a result can be given. But in any case, she’ll be locked up for at least a week."
Evelyn nodded, "That’s good, so she won’t bother us every day."
Seeing that David Lawrence was already gone, Rhys couldn’t help but ask, "Has David Lawrence left?"
Mentioning David Lawrence made Evelyn get goosebumps.
She wanted to tell Rhys what happened earlier, but the words stopped at her lips.
Whether Julia Lawrence had ever suffered at the hands of David Lawrence in the past was unknown and unverifiable, it was just a suspicion, even though David acted that way, it couldn’t be said for sure what other reasons were behind it.
So, it’s better for her to keep her mouth shut.
"Yes, he bid farewell after a few words. He’s a bit calmer than his wife," Evelyn’s face was indescribably stiff, and she murmured, "This family has always been troublesome."
Hearing this, Rhys thought Evelyn was complaining, so he comforted her, "Director Clayton, don’t worry, Felicia Preston is in the wrong no matter what."
Evelyn laughed inscrutably, "Just watch, with so many onlookers today, there’ll always be one or two people who’ll shoot a video and upload it online."
Saying this, Evelyn pinched her brow, "Unless something unexpected happens, our partnership with the Yip Group is basically off."
Rhys contacted the Yip Group the day before, but they didn’t answer the call, not even replying to messages.
Looking at this attitude, it was basically evident that they had given up on this cooperation with Gem.
After all, no company can keep making headlines when they’re just starting.
Even if nothing happens once or twice, such prolonged exposure under the public eye will eventually be the company’s downfall.
"Actually, Director Clayton, I always felt that we don’t necessarily have to cooperate with the Yip Group."
After much thought, Rhys finally spoke, speaking thoughtfully.
Evelyn looked at him, her gaze unfathomable, "What do you have in mind?"
"E-commerce models are quite common now, we can start with an e-commerce model first." Rhys adjusted his glasses, "This way, we skip the costs of physical stores, making it easier for us to manage."
Evelyn pondered for a moment, "Actually, I’ve considered it, but no one in the company has experience running an e-commerce store, and it’s too late to hire new people."
Rhys smiled slightly, "If Director Clayton trusts me, you can leave it to me. When I graduated from college, I had some work experience in this field."
This really was quite a pleasant surprise.
Evelyn looked at him, her eyes showing a smile of surprise, "Why didn’t you mention this before?"
"I saw you had no plans for that, so I didn’t bring it up." Rhys smiled somewhat sheepishly, "I feel now is the right time to tell you."
Evelyn thought for a moment, "This truly is a great idea... Starting with e-commerce not only reduces risk costs, but to some extent, it also aligns with the trend."
After all, nowadays, young people shop online more than offline.
Thinking of this, Evelyn smiled and looked at Rhys.
"I’ll leave this aspect to you, whatever you need—money or people—I’ll figure it out."
