CHAPTER 565: CHAPTER 565: ALL GONE

Elias Sherman hesitated for a long time, finally calling the caregiver Xiao Zhou first.

Xiao Zhou arrived with Lily Warren’s attending physician, and after a simple check-up, the doctor informed them that they could visit.

Evelyn Clayton breathed a slight sigh of relief and gently pushed the door open and entered.

Like many people with mental issues, Lily Warren showed no reaction to someone coming in, merely staring blankly at her hands as if there was something extremely interesting there.

But her hands were empty.

For a normal person, this scene was somewhat eerie. Evelyn Clayton took a light breath and stepped forward.

After approaching Lily Warren, Evelyn Clayton did not hurry to call her name; instead, she pulled up a chair and sat beside Lily Warren, leaning over to look at her palm as well.

She patiently waited, hoping Lily would speak to her first.

After a long time, Lily Warren seemed to finally notice her presence, slowly turning her head stiffly to look at her.

It was then Evelyn Clayton really saw Lily Warren’s face for the first time.

She looked quite delicate. Though wrinkles at the corners of her eyes and the thinness brought on by illness made her seem a bit off, her features were still pretty.

Even as she looked at Evelyn Clayton expressionlessly, her eyes remained gentle.

Evelyn Clayton looked back at her just the same, her eyes full of warmth and tranquility, trying to make Lily Warren feel her goodwill.

After a long time, Lily Warren finally spoke.

"What are you looking at?"

Evelyn Clayton smiled slightly and asked back, "Well, what are you looking at?"

Lily Warren’s lips moved, seemingly finding it extremely difficult to answer this question.

Evelyn Clayton watched, her eyes unclear but understanding inside.

The long-term torment of illness and mental issues had greatly reduced Lily Warren’s ability to communicate.

She might not truly be mentally ill, but she found it very hard to communicate normally with people.

Thinking of this, an idea flashed through Evelyn Clayton’s mind.

Although she couldn’t express herself normally, that didn’t mean her ability to process information was also gone.

Lily Warren once again turned her head to look at her palm, poking at it with a finger.

Evelyn Clayton remained patient and didn’t speak.

To get useful information from Lily Warren, she couldn’t force Lily Warren to communicate.

She could only wait, wait until Lily Warren wanted to speak herself.

After an indeterminate amount of time, Lily Warren finally spoke again.

"There are ants on my hand, look." Lily Warren extended her hand toward Evelyn Clayton, her tone monotonous and slow.

Of course, her hand was empty.

Evelyn Clayton pretended to look seriously and nodded, "Yes, there are ants."

However, Lily Warren glanced at her and suddenly laughed.

Her smile looked quite normal, but there was something indescribably strange about it.

"You’re lying to me." Lily Warren turned her eyes away, "There clearly aren’t any."

Evelyn Clayton patiently followed her thought, "You told me there were, didn’t you see them yourself?"

Lily Warren pouted, "What I see and what you see, aren’t the same."

"What kind do you see?"

Once again Lily Warren fell silent, playfully poking at her hand.

Just when Evelyn Clayton thought this communication attempt was about to fail, she suddenly heard Lily Warren chuckle softly.

Evelyn Clayton lifted her gaze, slightly uplifted in spirit.

"I’ve seen you, in a photo."

Evelyn Clayton was stunned, "What?"

Lily Warren looked at her, her eyes at this moment seemingly completely normal.

"I said, I’ve seen you in a photo."
