Flirted Wrong, Married Right
Chapter 587: Who Are You
CHAPTER 587: CHAPTER 587: WHO ARE YOU
On the third day after waking up, Evelyn Clayton’s voice finally regained some strength.
Although her voice was hoarse when she spoke, she was ultimately able to communicate normally.
Watching Pauline Warren, who was cheerfully peeling an apple by her bedside, Evelyn Clayton said softly, "Mrs. Warren, when can I be discharged from the hospital?"
Pauline Warren’s expression changed slightly, seeming somewhat evasive.
"Don’t worry... Your injuries are severe, you need to recuperate well. Are you looking to meet your friends? Just a few more days."
As she spoke, Pauline Warren smiled ingratiatingly and handed over the apple.
Evelyn Clayton’s brows furrowed imperceptibly as she slowly took the apple, "I think, if I can’t be discharged, at least let me inform my friends that I’m safe."
"Alright, alright."
Pauline Warren’s response was somewhat dismissive, and this odd attitude made Evelyn Clayton feel somewhat peculiar.
As if avoiding something, Pauline Warren no longer stayed with Evelyn Clayton, finding an excuse to leave hurriedly.
Watching her departing silhouette, Evelyn Clayton’s brows furrowed even further.
After a while, she climbed out of the hospital bed, leaned on the support rail within the room, and slowly walked to the door.
As she approached, she heard Pauline Warren’s low sobbing outside——
"What to do? She still wants to leave..."
"Pauline, she’s not Ann." Silas Sinclair’s voice emerged, full of tenderness and pity, "She will eventually have to return to her own world."
"But, but I want her to stay! I want to see her every day."
Pauline Warren’s voice was suppressed and painful.
Evelyn Clayton stood in place, her expression enigmatic.
After a while, the hospital room door was pushed open again.
Pauline Warren and her husband both entered, and upon seeing Evelyn Clayton standing at the door, their expressions changed significantly.
"Sir, Madam," Evelyn Clayton’s expression was calm and resolute, "I am very thankful to both of you for saving me, and I will find a way to repay you. I will also pay back the medical expenses during this period in full."
"But there’s one thing I hope you can understand... I am not your daughter."
Pauline Warren’s face turned ashen instantly, her lips trembling, moments later she couldn’t hold back anymore, tears flowed down like rain, and she ran out.
Silas Sinclair’s expression changed slightly, hurriedly apologizing to Evelyn Clayton before turning to chase after his wife.
Evelyn Clayton sighed inwardly, slowly returned to her bedside, and began pondering on a course of action.
This couple did not seem to be the type who would force someone against their will, but she genuinely couldn’t satisfy their wish to remain by their side.
She had already been delayed for two months.
Lost in thought intermittently, Evelyn Clayton leaned back against the bed.
Her physical injuries and prolonged bed rest had left her weak, and she soon fell asleep.
Unknown time passed before Evelyn Clayton heard the sound of the hospital room door opening.
She struggled to open her eyes, only seeing a tall silhouette, unfamiliar yet somehow familiar.
It was a young man, his features somewhat familiar, handsome and calm, with defined facial lines—an exceptionally good-looking face.
The man wore a black tailored suit, his gestures were very refined, and upon seeing Evelyn Clayton awake, he politely stepped back, his voice was deep and magnetic.
"Miss Clayton, you’re awake." The man nodded, "I’m sorry for entering like this, I just wanted to check on your condition."
Evelyn Clayton’s eyes showed a hint of vigilance, "And you are?"
The man didn’t immediately answer Evelyn Clayton’s question but instead asked, "May I turn on the light?"
Upon receiving Evelyn Clayton’s permission, the man turned on the light switch, the room instantly became bright.
"My name is Ian Sinclair; the two you saw earlier are my parents."
