Flirted Wrong, Married Right
Chapter 601: Afraid of Dragging Her Down
CHAPTER 601: CHAPTER 601: AFRAID OF DRAGGING HER DOWN
Evelyn Clayton bit her lip as tears fell silently.
Perhaps it was the hormones affecting her, but she found herself easily moved to tears, "I’m just afraid that in the future, my matters might implicate her."
Her child hadn’t even been born, yet she was already worrying about the future.
Evelyn couldn’t bear it.
"There’s no such thing as a perfect mother in this world." Yara Reagan sniffed, "I believe you’ll become a wonderful mother. You’ll give this child the best love, provide her safety and freedom in the future, and perhaps, if we’re lucky, shower her with ample wealth... As long as we do our best to give her the best within our capacity, isn’t that enough?"
As she spoke, Yara’s tears fell too, "Even if something really did happen, we could always entrust her to someone else."
"That sounds somewhat irresponsible." Evelyn chuckled through her tears, "Is that your plan?"
Yara looked at her, and they both couldn’t help but laugh and cry at the same time.
"Alright, alright, no more crying." Yara wiped away her tears, "I believe we can protect her. We definitely can!"
Evelyn’s heart gradually became firm.
Yes, she could protect her child.
Deciding to have the child, Evelyn felt an inexplicable relief.
The two of them went upstairs to rest and didn’t wake up until a servant came to call them.
As soon as they came downstairs, they saw Shane Sinclair had arrived.
"The main building is ready, and Mother asked you to come over for dinner."
Shane, dressed in casual home wear, looked much more approachable than before.
Evelyn and Yara followed him to the main building, where Pauline Warren and Silas Sinclair were already seated in the spacious living room.
Despite being just a family dinner, with Yara and Evelyn included, there were only five people, but the table was laden with assorted dishes, mostly the ones Evelyn and Yara had just mentioned they liked, showing how thoughtful they had been.
When the meal began, Pauline noticed something was off with Evelyn and Yara, and couldn’t help but show concern.
"Evelyn, Yara, why are your eyes so red? Did you not sleep well?"
Evelyn replied calmly, "No, maybe my eyes are a bit tired. They’ll be fine soon."
They had both cried and then went straight to sleep; it would be stranger if their eyes weren’t red.
Pauline didn’t think much of it and continued to speak with a beaming smile, "By the way, Evelyn, I meant to tell you this a few days ago, but I thought it would be best when you returned."
With that, Pauline handed a file folder to the servant, asking them to give it to Evelyn.
Evelyn took it and opened it, finding a thick stack of documents inside, including property transfers, equity transfers, and a three hundred million US Dollar bill of exchange.
"These things, Shane probably mentioned to you before, were meant for you. Due to the rush in preparation, it’s not the full amount yet, but it will be completed soon." Pauline said with a bright smile, "Have a look, and if there’s no issue, we’ll get it signed."
Yara watched in awe, while Evelyn was slightly at a loss for words.
But before Evelyn could speak, Pauline eagerly continued, "Also, I’ve hired several nutritionists and maternity assistants to stay at home in advance, so they can get used to taking care of you. You won’t have to worry about anything for the child; the house will have everything ready for you!"
Listening to this, Evelyn felt a slight stir in her brow and some heaviness in her heart.
In Pauline’s words and actions, it was clear she had already taken her as one of her own...
