Flirted Wrong, Married Right
Chapter 604: Dream Come True
CHAPTER 604: CHAPTER 604: DREAM COME TRUE
Evelyn Clayton turned her gaze to the yellow plum tree on the treetop.
"I assume Mr. Sinclair has thoroughly investigated my background and knows everything about me, and I have no intention of hiding it," Evelyn slowly spoke, "The reason I agreed to stay with the Sinclair Family was because of their influence."
As she said this, her eyes gradually dimmed, "If my suspicion is correct and Arthur Chandler was the culprit behind my father’s murder, then with my own strength, there’s nothing I can do to him. Naturally, I need your help, and if Mr. Sinclair thinks it’s easy, then I suppose I should be happy to have found a strong ally."
Shane Sinclair gazed at her quietly and after a while spoke, "Indeed, Arthur Chandler is powerful, but in Aethelburg, he’s actually not that significant."
"But to me, he is an insurmountable mountain," Evelyn’s eyes wandered towards some void, making them appear crystal clear like a glass treasure.
Shane was momentarily lost in his thoughts.
He frowned slightly, "Actually, I haven’t deeply investigated your past; it’s out of respect for you — I want to know, how did your father really die?"
"A car accident." Evelyn didn’t hesitate and revealed, "He died in an unexpected car accident. After his death, his heart was taken. I grew up with my mother, always supplying blood to someone I believed had received my father’s heart transplant."
After pausing, Evelyn looked at Shane, her gaze unwavering, "You were the ones who saved me, so I assume you are aware that my blood type is very special."
Shane hesitated, then nodded.
"Later, I discovered my father’s heart wasn’t even in that person; it was in another girl about my age whom I don’t know," Evelyn laughed self-deprecatingly, "I was a walking blood bank for her too."
"After discovering this, I kept thinking."
"Why did these people hide it from me? Where did my father’s heart really end up? Is this something I’m not supposed to know?"
As Evelyn spoke, she nearly whispered, "Countless nights I woke up startled, countless times when my drunk mother slapped me, I wondered, is all this real or is the abyss I am in just a dream?"
Shane’s breathing gradually slowed, and a peculiar feeling arose in his heart.
It was partly a feeling of guilt for doubting Evelyn, and partly... pity.
He rarely felt these emotions; it was truly unusual.
"I can’t understand it, so I have to find the truth," Evelyn once again looked at Shane, "If in the end, it turns out everything was truly an accident, I will accept it gladly. But even if there’s only a one in a thousand chance my father was murdered, I will never let that person go."
Because letting that person go would be a betrayal of her father and of the years spent struggling under Charlotte Sterling’s cruel hand.
Evelyn could not accept such an outcome.
Shane silently exhaled.
"I understand," Shane stood up, staring at Evelyn, "Forgive me for what I said earlier. I agree to the conditions you proposed. If you need me for anything in the future, you can come to me anytime."
Evelyn smiled beautifully.
"Then I’ll thank you in advance, Mr. Sinclair."
Shane also slightly curled his lips.
"Then I’ll wish you, may your dreams come true."
