Flirted Wrong, Married Right
Chapter 605: Tricking Them Together
CHAPTER 605: CHAPTER 605: TRICKING THEM TOGETHER
Shane Sinclair finished speaking and left.
Evelyn Clayton returned alone, and Pauline Warren asked her what Shane had said.
"Nothing much." Evelyn smiled, changing the subject, "Are the strawberry buns ready? I’m a bit hungry."
Pauline’s attention shifted, and she handed the freshly baked buns to Evelyn and Yara Reagan.
After staying with the Sinclair family for about ten days, Evelyn’s injuries were much less painful.
She had discussed with the Sinclair family and decided to return to Riversend in a couple of days.
"Don’t worry about things over at Gem; with Rhys Jacobs there, he can handle a lot."
The night before departure, Yara was packing up, "But Violet Ford and the others, you should meet them; they’re quite worried about you."
Evelyn nodded, "I know."
"And about James Grant..." Yara turned to Evelyn, concerned, "If news of your pregnancy gets out—"
Evelyn laughed, "As long as you don’t say anything, he won’t find out."
Yara nodded vigorously, "Don’t worry; this time I definitely won’t be a blabbermouth!"
Evelyn smiled and pinched her cheek.
They set off the next day, with Pauline sending them off reluctantly.
Shane Sinclair, as usual, remained indifferent and unmoved by external matters.
Silas Sinclair also felt a bit reluctant; the days having Evelyn and Yara around improved the family atmosphere, even making Pauline smile more often.
"Remember to take folic acid every day, okay? I’ve sorted them out for you, just take one section each day, don’t keep forgetting; I’ll check when you come back! Also, remember to drink more water!"
Pauline meticulously instructed Evelyn, taking on the role of a mother.
Evelyn quietly watched her, and after a while, she felt a stir in her heart and softly said, "Got it, mom."
Pauline froze in place upon hearing the address.
All these days, Evelyn, no matter how closely she stayed with her, hadn’t ever used this term.
Though Pauline longed for Evelyn to call her that, she soberly understood that Evelyn wasn’t her biological daughter, only an adopted one.
At that moment, Pauline’s heart melted, even making her reluctant to let Evelyn leave.
Evelyn also felt indescribable emotions.
The feeling of maternal love was something she had long forgotten.
Unexpectedly, she felt a bit of it with Pauline.
Although this maternal love wasn’t entirely hers, benefiting from it didn’t seem so bad.
"Why don’t I come with you?" Pauline started to act whimsically again, calling Evelyn "little Ann" as she circled her and nagged, "I can still book a ticket now!"
Shane softly interjected, "Mom, Evelyn needs to handle things; you can’t go and disturb her."
The name Evelyn brought Pauline back to her senses.
But she wasn’t as saddened as before, only feeling a bit apologetic for calling the wrong name, "Okay, okay... Evelyn, I’ll wait for you to come back!"
Evelyn smiled as she and Yara climbed into the car and drove off.
The noon flight arrived in Aethelburg just over two hours later.
Compared to Aethelburg’s dry chill, Riversend’s winter was gentler, which Evelyn was more accustomed to.
As soon as they got off the plane, the Sinclair family was there to pick them up, discreetly taking them to Gem.
"I didn’t tell Rhys Jacobs; he might be scared to death when he sees you later." Yara was a bit excited, "Should we trick Violet Ford into coming too?"
Evelyn lowered her eyes, looking at her phone, found Gene Young’s contact, hesitated for a long time, then sent a message.
