CHAPTER 610: CHAPTER 610: LET THEM GO

In just an instant, Yara Reagan instinctively pulled Evelyn Clayton over, shielding her behind herself.

Yara’s face turned pale as she looked at the man who shouldn’t have been in the room, her lips trembling as she slightly turned to look at Evelyn.

Meanwhile, Evelyn stared intently at the man on the sofa, her gaze finally shifting to Gene Young, who was tied up and lying on the floor.

Gene also looked at her at this moment, his scarlet eyes full of apology and guilt.

After a long time, Evelyn withdrew her gaze, looked at the sofa, and spoke word by word.

"James Grant, what do you mean?"

On the sofa, James slightly leaned back, looking comfortable, as if this was already his territory, and the several bodyguards in the room standing aside created a strong sense of oppression.

James seemed to smile mockingly, his face excessively pale, full of ridicule, with an indescribable dark ferocity hidden between his handsome, sharp brows.

"It doesn’t mean anything, just heard you’re back, giving you a surprise." James said leisurely, "What, you came back just to see this guy named Yang first?"

Evelyn pulled out her hand held by Yara, and in turn pulled her behind herself, her eyes cold as she met James’s gaze.

James’s eyes moved slightly, and the two of them just looked at each other without speaking for a long time.

After a long while, Evelyn slowly said, "James, what you’re doing is illegal."

James let out a sneer, the ferocity in his eyes growing thicker, "Seems I’ve indulged you too long. Have you forgotten who I am?"

"I haven’t forgotten." Evelyn’s lips curled into a mocking arc, "It’s today that I’ve seen the lowest point of your humanity... it’s truly nauseating."

She uttered those two words lightly, and James’s gaze grew colder.

He retracted his gaze, glancing at Gene Young with a low laugh, "I don’t care what you think."

Evelyn bit her molars tightly, "What on earth do you want?"

"It’s simple." James stood up, walked to Gene’s side, and gently kicked his knee with his toe.

Gene let out a muffled groan, large drops of cold sweat falling from his forehead as if he were in extreme pain.

Evelyn’s pupils constricted as she looked at Gene’s slightly deformed bent leg, only then realizing.

Gene’s leg...

Yara also noticed, shouting in shock, "James, are you crazy?!"

Seeing James’s eyes darken slightly, Evelyn tightened her grip on Yara’s hand and asked again, word by word: "James, whatever you have, come at me. I was the one who deceived you, I used you, not someone else."

"Hmm, I know." James chuckled lightly, walking forward slowly, the darkness in his eyes getting deeper.

He gripped Evelyn’s jaw, gently rubbing it with the pad of his finger, his long eyelashes slightly lowered, casually examining Evelyn’s delicate brows and eyes.

"Come back with me, and I’ll let Gene go, how about that?"

Evelyn winced in pain, furrowing her brows tightly, her voice trembling, "James, are you crazy?"

"Let her go!" Yara tried to step forward to pull James’s hand, but was quickly grabbed by a bodyguard and pulled aside.

James didn’t even turn his head, his gaze continually roaming, scrutinizing Evelyn’s face.

Evelyn’s voice trembled, "Let Yara go, let Gene go, whatever you want me to do, I’ll agree."

James’s lips curled into a smile, his thumb gently brushing across Evelyn’s lips, he said softly, "Good girl."

With that, he let go, turned his eyes towards the bodyguards, and said indifferently, "Let them go."
