Flirted Wrong, Married Right
Chapter 628: Good News
CHAPTER 628: CHAPTER 628: GOOD NEWS
Yara Reagan’s foot paused slightly, she tapped the brake.
The car almost came to a stop, fortunately there were not many cars on this road at this hour, otherwise a traffic accident would have been inevitable.
Yara Reagan continued driving with a blank expression.
She appeared calm, but just now Iris Lockwood’s heart almost jumped out of her throat; what was there not to understand?
"I know, Violet Ford was talking bad about you," Iris Lockwood mumbled, "You feel Violet looks down on you, so you don’t want to cozy up to her, but I’m not blind, I can see that Franklin Ford is interested in you, and the feelings are mutual, what’s it got to do with Violet?"
Yara Reagan quietly turned the wheel, "I don’t have the mood to think about this right now."
Iris Lockwood also knew that discussing this now was pointless, so she sighed, "Forget it, let’s just pretend I was rambling. About Evelyn Clayton’s matter, what should we do next?"
"Wait." Yara Reagan drove into the neighborhood, still at Evelyn Clayton’s place, "Wait for the right moment. After all, we can’t really take James Grant to court, we can only wait for the opportunity."
They got out of the car and went into the apartment building.
As they reached the door, there seemed to be a silhouette in the dark corridor.
Iris Lockwood jumped in fright and quickly clapped her hands.
The sound-activated lights in the hallway suddenly lit up.
Only then did they see clearly that there was indeed someone standing at their door.
The person was leaning on a cane, trying to stand tall despite a slight stoop.
Yara Reagan was slightly surprised and hurried forward to support the person, "Officer Young, how did you get discharged? And you didn’t even tell us?"
Gene Young pressed his lips, revealing a somewhat bitter smile, "I didn’t want to bother you. It’s okay, I can still walk."
Despite his words, Gene Young walked very slowly with Yara Reagan’s support.
Yara Reagan and Iris Lockwood could hardly imagine how he had made it over.
Once inside, Yara Reagan helped Gene Young sit down and poured him a glass of water.
"Officer Young, you’re not fit to be discharged from the hospital," Yara Reagan slightly frowned, "If you need anything, you could have simply called me over."
Gene Young didn’t have many relatives or friends, and his only childhood friend was out of town.
When the incident happened, Gene Young had repeatedly told Yara Reagan not to contact his friend.
Yara Reagan had no choice but to ask a nurse at the hospital for help, hiring a caregiver for Gene Young and leaving her private number.
"I’m not that frail," Gene Young soothingly curved his lips, then his expression turned solemn, "Besides, given the current situation... I couldn’t stay in the hospital anymore."
The situation he was referring to was self-evident, Yara Reagan lowered her gaze and sat beside him, "Thank you, Officer Young, for your concern."
Yara Reagan’s response was somewhat insincere.
She held some resentment towards Gene Young; if it hadn’t been for him that day...
But Yara Reagan was rational enough to know that this wasn’t Gene Young’s fault.
Even without Gene Young, James Grant would have found a way to deceive Evelyn Clayton and take her away.
Gene Young wasn’t oblivious to Yara Reagan’s feelings; his voice was slightly hoarse, "I deeply regret this matter."
Yara Reagan bit her lip, remaining silent for a moment.
Seeing this, Iris Lockwood quickly spoke up, "Officer Young, don’t say that. Who could have known James Grant was a madman? But let’s not talk about that right now, did you come here urgently today for a specific reason?"
"I assume you both already know, I’ve been working with Miss Clayton to investigate the case of her father’s death in a car accident years ago. Today, I came with good news—my father’s health has improved."
