CHAPTER 641: CHAPTER 641: BORED OUT OF MY MIND

Night falls.

Most of the people in the villa have left, leaving only Auntie Liu behind.

She was the one who passed a note to Evelyn Clayton at the start.

During dinner, Evelyn Clayton took the initiative to come downstairs.

James Grant wasn’t entirely displeased, but he didn’t show much on his face, just sat there plainly facing her, eating.

The atmosphere was somewhat dull and oppressive, but in James Grant’s view, it was much better.

At least it wasn’t like yesterday, when even the dishes were overturned.

"I might not come back the next couple of days."

As they were finishing up, James Grant said casually, "If anything happens while you’re home alone, Auntie Liu can reach out to me."

Evelyn Clayton sipped her bowl of rib and corn soup and replied indifferently, "Where are you going?"

James Grant paused slightly in his actions.

He hadn’t expected Evelyn Clayton to ask him directly.

Suppressing the stir in his heart, James Grant slowly said, "I’m going to meet with the Yates Family."

"Seeing Lynn Yates?" Evelyn Clayton’s expression remained indifferent.

"Yes." James Grant stared intently at Evelyn Clayton, "Lynn Yates is about to get engaged to Jasper Grant."

Evelyn Clayton was unfazed, "That’s nice."

An unspeakable irritation welled up, and James Grant stubbornly controlled his temper, "If you don’t care, why ask?"

Evelyn Clayton paused in her soup drinking.

After a moment, Evelyn Clayton looked up at him, the mockery in her eyes faint yet still clear, "I was just bored. Otherwise, being cooped up here, even my ability to speak would atrophy."

James Grant couldn’t hold back any longer and let out a cold laugh, saying nothing more.

After dinner, they went their separate ways, like a quarreling couple in a cold war sleeping in separate rooms.

Holding onto his frustration, James Grant went to the study.

As soon as he entered, Kieran Donovan called.

Without much thought, James Grant answered, "What’s up?"

"James, what are you up to?"

Kieran Donovan’s tone was as relaxed and casual as ever, "Have you been busy lately? Why haven’t we heard from you?"

The people James Grant had met and the things said in recent days left him with almost no peace, but speaking with Kieran Donovan was a bit more relaxing.

"At home, quite busy." James Grant massaged his brow, "Anything you need?"

"Look at you, can’t I reach out for nothing?" Kieran Donovan chuckled a couple of times, "So, do you have time to meet up?"

James Grant slowly sensed something was off.

He furrowed his brows deeply, his voice turning cold, "What’s this about? Just say it, or I’m hanging up."

"Hey, wait!" Kieran Donovan exclaimed helplessly, "Man, your temper’s not what it used to be... Can’t we talk calmly?"

"I said, what’s this about?" James Grant’s voice was cold and harsh.

Kieran Donovan gave in, "Alright, but don’t get upset! Um, Tristan wants to meet and talk with you, but he’s afraid you might not want to see him..."

James Grant laughed out of anger, "You know?"

"Ahem, I know a bit, but not much—by the way, you haven’t been kind, why didn’t you tell us Director Clayton was back?"

James Grant scoffed coldly, "Tristan Hawthorne told you?"

"Yeah!"

"How did he put it? Did he say I forced love, holding someone captive?" James Grant sarcastically retorted.

"Come on, man, you don’t have to explain so much to me!" Kieran Donovan sounded a bit anxious, "Just tell me, considering all the help I’ve given you before, will you come out and meet up?"
