Flirted Wrong, Married Right
Chapter 662: The Answer Is Obvious
CHAPTER 662: CHAPTER 662: THE ANSWER IS OBVIOUS
Charlotte Sterling’s eyes finally showed genuine fear.
She glared fiercely at James Grant, her eyes filled with bloodshot veins. After a long time, she trembled and said through gritted teeth, "You want to find Evelyn Clayton, you want to find her... but she doesn’t want to see you, so don’t waste your effort."
"Whether Evelyn wants to see me is not up to you," James Grant lowered his eyes slightly, indifferent like a deity judging mortal souls, "You’re not worthy to say that."
Charlotte Sterling laughed oddly, "James Grant, now you think I’m not worthy? Wasn’t it you who found me back then, saying you wanted me to reconcile with Evelyn Clayton? You once firmly believed that birth blessings outweigh everything and thought Evelyn should forgive me, didn’t you? And what happened? You screwed up, didn’t you?"
"And now, what are you doing pretending to be so sentimental? If you hadn’t brought me back to Riversend on your own five years ago, things might not have ended up like this."
The hostility in James Grant’s eyes grew even stronger. He instinctively stepped forward, but Quentin Hale stopped him the next second.
"Director Grant, she’s trying to provoke you," Quentin Hale said softly beside James Grant, "Don’t let her manipulate you."
James Grant took a deep breath silently, his sinister gaze crossing over Charlotte Sterling before he retracted it after a long time.
He turned around and strode away from the spot.
Quentin Hale saw this and sighed in relief, quickly following in James Grant’s footsteps.
Upon leaving the factory, James Grant got into the car, and Quentin Hale sensibly took the driver’s seat.
He carefully observed James Grant’s expression through the rearview mirror, then softly suggested, "Director Grant, leave this to me. Shall I take you back now?"
James Grant leaned back against the leather seat in the rear, his eyes closed. Yet between his brows, there was still a deep fatigue. Five years hadn’t left too many traces on him but made him appear more profound and reserved.
After a long time, James Grant opened his eyes, dark as a vast wasteland, endless and boundless.
He seemed to be gazing at something, yet also as if looking into a void.
"Keep an eye on her, if she gets away again this time, don’t bother continuing," James Grant said indifferently.
Quentin Hale shuddered slightly and then quickly replied, "Rest assured, I will definitely watch her closely this time!"
James Grant remained silent, and after a while, he continued, "What about Gem, any movements lately?"
In recent years, Gem has thrived under the leadership of Yara Reagan and Iris Lockwood, with the company expanding several times its original scale.
Furthermore, at the beginning of last year, Yara Reagan bought a portion of the shares from The Ford Family and became the actual person in charge of Gem. She then started financing preparations for its IPO, which by now, at the end of October, has entered the final round of public stock offering and achieved considerable success.
If there wasn’t someone helping in the shadows, James Grant wouldn’t believe it.
It’s not that he looks down on Yara Reagan and Iris Lockwood, but in Riversend, to rise so quickly must have some backhand support.
Among the major families in Riversend, James Grant knew them all too well. The marriage alliance between the Grant Family and the Yates Family had been stagnant with no progress; the Whitman Family, the maternal home of the Yates family madam, is strong in appearance but weak in substance, and although The Ford Family is also considered an established family, the chairman’s position has been vacant and rotated among board members due to unstable internal structure, they can barely manage themselves.
So, who exactly is helping Yara and them?
The answer was already quite evident.
