Flirted Wrong, Married Right
Chapter 681: Just an Ordinary Person
CHAPTER 681: CHAPTER 681: JUST AN ORDINARY PERSON
Seeing Evelyn Clayton’s brows gradually furrowed, Yara Reagan quickly said, "Forget it, pretend I didn’t say that. Maybe I felt it wrong. After all, you two have been together for so many years, like real family."
"I hope not," Evelyn’s suspicion in her eyes dissipated a bit, "I hope we both are just mistaken."
Upon hearing this, Yara realized that Evelyn had felt the same way before.
She changed the topic, "Iris has been wanting to get several more endorsements for Shane recently. If Shane’s commercial value can go up another level, it would be beneficial for our Gem."
"I know. I’ll try to find a way when the time comes."
After the last bit of conversation, Yara went back to her room to sleep.
Evelyn tossed and turned on the ship, eventually getting up to go to her daughter’s room.
Sharon was already fast asleep.
She’s always needed a small night light to sleep since she was little. Under the dim bedside lamp, the cute and tender face of the little one made her even more endearing, and Evelyn watched her daughter with eyes full of love, reluctant to look away for a long time.
In truth, her mind was a mess.
From the moment she saw James Grant, she was utterly disoriented.
But that chaos wasn’t about the decision Shane questioned, whether to forgive James Grant or not.
Because she didn’t feel James Grant owed her anything.
James Grant was simply a person who seemed extraordinary but was ordinary to the bone.
He had things he cared about, things he ignored, good sides, and dark deceptive sides, none of which were blameworthy.
Living beings are all like that.
So Evelyn never thought that some things James Grant did back then were terribly wrong.
But that didn’t mean she wanted to rekindle things with James Grant.
She spent five years understanding that James Grant was just a living, breathing ordinary person, and figured out the crux of her and James Grant’s issues during those years.
Evelyn admitted she once loved James Grant deeply, and perhaps even now seeing him, she couldn’t quite face it calmly.
But she also admitted that she never loved the ordinary James Grant, who would waver and be indecisive because of certain things.
She always yearned for and loved a phantom she concocted in her mind, someone who would always side with her, always prioritize her, who would choose her steadfastly without condition.
But that was a paradox from the beginning.
Because such a person never existed in this world, neither did such love; James Grant would not choose her unwaveringly, nor love her without conditions.
Yet she fell in love with that version of James Grant.
And only when things reached an irreconcilable point did she realize that such a person simply did not exist.
So she lamented and was hysterical.
Appearing to question James Grant’s love, but actually unable to accept that he wasn’t purely in love with her.
Evelyn didn’t feel that this kind of relationship needed to continue in any form.
Moreover, she already had someone who loved her unconditionally.
Evelyn looked at Sharon, full of love, and after a long while, she placed another kiss on her forehead.
Then, with extreme gentleness, Evelyn lay down on Sharon’s small bed, softly cradled her in her arms, holding her in a protective embrace.
Feeling the familiar embrace and scent, Sharon pressed tightly against Evelyn, like a bird returning to its nest, a baby returning to its mother’s womb.
