CHAPTER 695: CHAPTER 695: PROGRESS REPORT

"Here you are."

As she entered, she saw Shane Sinclair sitting behind the desk reading documents, without even lifting his head.

Evelyn Clayton smiled and said, "I came in to see my boss first, to report my official return to work."

"Very good, if only your work time could start a little earlier," Shane raised his eyes, teasingly saying, "I haven’t informed your design department yet, go ahead and give them a surprise yourself."

Evelyn chuckled, "No rush on that. What did Winnie Wyatt tell you just now?"

Shane paused his movements, then replied, "What did she say on her way out?"

"Not much, I didn’t ask her either." Evelyn sat across from Shane, "But from her appearance, she doesn’t seem very pleased about my return."

Evelyn was straightforward, so Shane didn’t hide it anymore, sighing, "She wants the position of head of the design department. With her capability, she’s indeed qualified, but with you here, I certainly prefer you."

"This seems like I’m getting special treatment." Evelyn laughed, "Since she’s suitable, why not let her try? I remember the company wanted to start a fashion design department, I could transfer there instead of continuing with the jewelry design department."

Shane was a bit surprised, "You’re considering returning to your old field?"

Evelyn thought for a moment, "Kind of. Of course, it depends on you, you are the boss after all."

Shane smiled helplessly, "If Mom hears this, she’s likely to scold me."

Originally, when Evelyn was about to join Apex, Pauline Warren wanted Shane to assign Evelyn a leisurely yet high-ranking position, so she wouldn’t be overworked and would still have influence in the company.

At the time, Shane racked his brains but couldn’t think of any position that met Pauline’s demands.

Eventually, Evelyn found out and volunteered to join the toughest and most challenging design department.

When she first joined, she wasn’t the director, she started from being an assistant step by step.

But Evelyn’s ability was evident, in over a year she rose to deputy director, and later became the director. Even though she went to Vesseria to start her own studio, she never neglected her part-time remote work here.

"Back then when I went to Vesseria, you kept my position here which made many people unhappy. Now that I’m back, rather than having a headache dealing with Winnie Wyatt and her people, I’d rather break new ground."

Fashion was considered Apex’s shortcoming, only dabbling into it slightly in the past two years. Whether it could succeed, no one knew. Evelyn was essentially moving from a plum position to a minor role.

Shane naturally hesitated, as he had great confidence in Evelyn’s capability, plus if Pauline knew about it, she would probably nag him.

"Let me think it over. The team for the fashion department hasn’t been formally formed yet. Let’s talk once there’s an initial plan."

Evelyn nodded, "Alright, I’m serious, boss, consider it well."

Shane agreed helplessly, "Alright, definitely."

After leaving the CEO’s office, Evelyn returned to the 18th floor, to the jewelry design department.

The jewelry design department was considered the core department of Apex, thus the entire 18th floor belonged to it.

After exiting the elevator, rather than heading to her office, Evelyn went straight to the conference room.

As she pushed open the door to the conference room, thunderous applause greeted her.

With a smile, Evelyn walked to the head seat, greeting the employees below.

"Long time no see, everyone. This time I’ve returned for good, I won’t be leaving again. Okay, without further ado, please start reporting on the recent progress of your work."
