Flirted Wrong, Married Right
Chapter 73: Do You Like It?
CHAPTER 73: CHAPTER 73: DO YOU LIKE IT?
James Grant shrugged innocently, without giving an opinion.
"No need, I appreciate Olivia’s kindness." Evelyn Clayton still politely declined.
She wouldn’t accept unearned favors, especially since she and Olivia Calder had only met once. How could she just take what someone else wanted?
Olivia Calder was about to speak again when suddenly the last voice she wanted to hear came from behind her—
"Olivia Calder, she doesn’t appreciate your gesture, and you’re still being shameless? Don’t you have any sense of shame?"
Amber Whitman sat elegantly at the counter, but her words were anything but polite.
"If I were you, I’d leave this embarrassing place and spare myself from being a laughing stock."
Olivia Calder was no pushover either. She pulled over another chair and sat down, "If a person who’s been laughed at as much as you can still show your face here, why should I leave?"
Despite the verbal jousting, Amber Whitman couldn’t gain the upper hand, so she could only glare at her and look pitifully at James Grant.
"James, why didn’t you tell me you were coming to see jewelry? You know I know so much about it!"
"It’s obvious, isn’t it? He’s out shopping with his wife. Why would he call you, the third wheel?" Olivia Calder was determined not to let Amber Whitman get any satisfaction, countering every sentence she uttered.
Amber Whitman was infuriated, "I’m not talking to you! Why are you interrupting?"
"I was just talking to Evelyn, and you interrupted too, didn’t you?" Olivia Calder retorted defiantly.
Then she deliberately acted close, saying to Vivian Clayton, "There’s no need for formality between us. These cufflinks are perfect for James Grant. If you, as his fiancée, don’t gift them, are you going to leave it for some random nobody to do it?"
Vivian Clayton quickly understood, especially since she was also feeling upset.
So she picked up the cufflinks and deliberately examined them closely before asking James Grant, "Do you like them?"
"As long as they’re from you, I like them." James Grant whispered in her ear, not loudly, but enough for everyone to hear.
Vivian Clayton felt a tingling in her heart but quickly suppressed it.
Amber Whitman was furious but couldn’t bear to attack James Grant, so she continued to nitpick Vivian Clayton.
"Sure, they look nice, but they cost two hundred thousand. Do you need me to remind you of your financial status? You wouldn’t give him a gift and then expect him to pay for it, right..." Amber Whitman spoke hesitantly, leaving plenty of room for the sales clerk’s imagination.
Vivian Clayton raised an eyebrow at her but said nothing.
Seeing her silence, Amber Whitman became even more complacent.
"You can’t even bring yourself to buy a pair of two hundred thousand cufflinks. You’re really on a different level from James, aren’t you? You should be with someone from our circle to truly connect."
"Yes. Miss Whitman can afford it, but can she give them away?" Vivian Clayton turned and looked at James Grant with feigned innocence, "Unless I’m mistaken, Miss Whitman is still single, right?"
"Yes."
Not only did James Grant cooperate, but Olivia Calder also joined in, "Indeed, the last public confession I remember Miss Whitman making was to Young Master Grant!"
"What confession, he’s my brother, how could I..."
Amber Whitman bit her lower lip, "Anyway, James, Evelyn Clayton isn’t right for you! Think carefully, being with a woman who can’t even afford a twenty thousand gift is embarrassing!"
James Grant remained noncommittal and directly pulled out his black card for the sales clerk, "We’ll take this pair, charge it."
"As expected, in the end, James paid himself." Amber Whitman was quite pleased, adding to show her superiority, "If I were Vivian, I’d feel so embarrassed!"
The sales clerk wrapped up the cufflinks and James Grant motioned for them to be handed to Evelyn Clayton.
Receiving the cufflinks, Vivian Clayton looked at James Grant in confusion.
