Flirted Wrong, Married Right
Chapter 86: Have You Seen This Photo?
CHAPTER 86: CHAPTER 86: HAVE YOU SEEN THIS PHOTO?
"This is not being picky." Jasper Grant chided her grumpily, "If you were the one whose manuscript was stolen, would you still be laughing?!"
Amber Whitman hadn’t interacted much with Jasper Grant. She only complained to him because he was from the Grant Family. She didn’t expect to be lectured, so she stormed off in a huff.
Unexpectedly, just as Jasper Grant thought Evelyn Clayton was pitiful, he happened to see her in person and couldn’t help but feel some sympathy for her.
With his thoughts turning, Jasper Grant nodded slightly, "Miss Clayton."
Evelyn Clayton glanced at Jasper Grant and nodded politely at him.
"Hello."
"No need to be so formal. It’s not the first time we’ve met." Jasper Grant flashed a friendly smile, "I just heard some things about you, and I’m sorry for almost letting you be wronged at the Grant Group."
"What things?"
"About Amber Whitman."
"Oh."
Evelyn Clayton lowered her eyes. Since it was already resolved, she didn’t plan to dwell on it.
But Jasper Grant was indignant on her behalf, "I already gave her a talking-to just now."
"Who did you lecture?" Evelyn Clayton looked sideways at him. Did he really need to butt in?
"Amber Whitman. Over the years, because of the Whitman family’s connections, she’s been flaunting herself at the Grant Group. Now she’s even bullying you. As long as I’m here, I won’t allow such things to happen at the Grant Group."
Evelyn Clayton wanted to laugh.
Jasper Grant was completely different from James Grant and Matthew Sullivan. James was fickle and cold, and Matthew was selfish. Jasper was overly righteous and a bit cute.
"By the way, why isn’t my brother with you?"
"He still has some work to finish. I came for lunch first." Evelyn Clayton smiled, not intending to say much.
Jasper Grant’s eyes lit up, "Then can I join you? I came to see my dad, but he has a lunch meeting, and my brother probably doesn’t have time to eat with me either."
He didn’t even consider Matthew Sullivan.
Since she was alone anyway, Evelyn Clayton nodded, "Sure."
"Great. Then let me host lunch, okay? I can’t let our future sister-in-law treat us."
The elevator arrived, and Jasper Grant very gallantly extended his hand.
"Please."
Evelyn Clayton couldn’t help but chuckle.
Jasper Grant went to get the car and asked her to wait for a while.
"Alright."
Just as Jasper Grant left, her phone rang.
——
"Have you seen this photo?"
Attached to the message was a photo of her father lying in the operating room, his face deathly pale.
Strangely, her father’s hands and feet were restrained, forcibly tied to the hospital bed.
Evelyn Clayton’s eyes widened, and her breath suddenly stopped.
She immediately dialed the number, but the other party hung up at once.
"If you want to know the story behind the photo, come to this place."
"Address: XX District, XX Street, No. XX"
At this moment, Jasper Grant’s car had already pulled up at the entrance. He got out to open the car door for her, "Please."
She clutched her phone tightly, looking anxious, "Sorry, I have something to attend to. I can’t have lunch with you today."
"What’s the matter? Is it urgent? Maybe I can give you a ride—"
Before he could finish, Evelyn Clayton had already flagged down a taxi and left.
Watching the taxi drive away, Jasper Grant smiled helplessly.
"Alright. You owe me a meal."
...
The car gradually stopped, and Evelyn Clayton got out, looking up at the sign above.
The multicolored sign displayed the large words "The Black Moon Club."
A bowtie-wearing attendant approached, "Miss, are you here alone or meeting someone?"
"I’m here to find someone."
