Flirted Wrong, Married Right

CHAPTER 89: CHAPTER 89: DON’T BE AFRAID, I’M HERE
"Stop overthinking. Check her first."
Seeing the indescribable expression on Flynn Thorne’s face, a vein throbbed on James Grant’s temple.
Flynn quickly took out his tools and performed the check-up as quietly as James requested.
After the thorough examination, Flynn was drenched in cold sweat.
"Director Grant, she’s fine; there are no visible wounds on her body. The marks on her hands are from struggling and will disappear in a couple of days."
James Grant’s expression finally eased a bit.
After placing Evelyn Clayton on the bed in his bedroom, James unceremoniously issued a dismissal order.
"After checking the patient, aren’t you leaving?"
"I thought you might want to talk about your ’hidden treasure’ here," Flynn teased, looking at him.
He had known James for many years and had never seen him bring a woman home to take care of.
James might have many love interests, but he’d never brought any to this home before.
But James just rubbed his numb arm, "I don’t want to."
Accepting his role as merely a tool in James’s eyes, Flynn took the $100,000 check, teary-eyed, and left.
Just as he was about to open his computer to handle some work, James suddenly heard sobbing from the room.
"Uh—don’t touch me!"
He immediately returned to Evelyn’s side and found that she seemed to be caught in a nightmare.
Though her eyes were tightly closed, tears were streaming down her cheeks, her mouth slightly open, desperately calling for help.
"Evelyn, wake up." James frowned, gently patting her soft cheek.
Evelyn dreamt about the events of the evening, struggling fiercely, but those hands refused to let her go.
They were like tenacious vines, refusing to release their hold until they completely engulfed her in suffocation...
Who would rescue her?
Who would save her!
Just when she thought she was about to suffocate, she suddenly heard a voice.
The voice was gentle yet firm, repeatedly calling her name.
So she followed the voice—
In the next second, Evelyn suddenly opened her eyes and unexpectedly fell into the anxious gaze of James.
"Don’t be afraid, I’m here."
James lightly patted her back, as if comforting a small baby.
The still-startled Evelyn buried her face in his neck, unwilling to speak.
She was so tired.
She had to admit, James’s comfort was quite effective; her breathing soon calmed down again.
Evelyn did not sleep soundly; as soon as James laid her down, she furrowed her eyebrows.
There was no other way, he had to stay until midnight.
It wasn’t until her tightly knit brows relaxed that James got up, quietly closed the door, and left the room.
He didn’t dare go far, fearing Evelyn would be scared if she awoke alone, so he stood in the hallway and called Keith Donovan.
At two-thirty in the morning, Keith was startled awake by the call but didn’t dare to get angry, fearing James might have an urgent matter.
"What’s up?"
James spoke in a very low voice, seemingly afraid of waking someone.
"Are you familiar with The Black Moon Club?"
Hearing these four words, Keith’s eyes suddenly became clear. "The Black Moon Club is not like the places we usually hang out at; you shouldn’t go there."
Keith’s father, Simon Donovan, indulged even more and thus Keith had heard about The Black Moon Club.
The people who frequent there are not to be messed with, possessing fearsome backgrounds besides money, so not many know about it.
If Simon hadn’t been there a few times, Keith wouldn’t have known about it.
"I didn’t go, but tonight I was set up over there. Help me find out who had booked Misty Moon One tonight."
