CHAPTER 29: CHAPTER 29: I’M GOING TO EXPOSE YOU

Opening the food preservation box, the whole box full of plump steamed buns looked very appetizing.

Wang Fan used tongs to pick up 5 steamed buns from the food preservation box, packed them in a plastic bag, and handed them to Wang Hao.

Wang Hao paid for the buns and was about to leave. However, remembering the way Wang Fan had pinched the buns earlier, he found it amusing and decided to emulate Wang Fan by picking up a bun to hold in his hand.

Just when he was about to give it a squeeze, Wang Fan quickly said, "Buddy, these buns aren’t meant for squeezing."

Wang Hao ignored the advice: "I clearly saw you squeezing one earlier, why can’t I do it if you can? I insist on squeezing it."

Wang Fan explained, "The one I squeezed earlier was a sauerkraut... bun... Here’s a napkin for you, maybe listen to advice next time."

Before Wang Fan could finish his sentence, Wang Hao had already given the meat bun a strong squeeze.

"Boom."

It was the sound Wang Hao imagined in his mind.

Because when he squeezed the meat bun, a large splash of meat juices erupted out immediately.

The juices were so copious that it ran all over his hand and dripped down to the ground.

Wang Fan had deliberately let the buns cool a bit, so they weren’t scalding, but definitely not cold. Wang Hao’s expression was one of slight grimace and grin.

Wang Fan held back his laughter and handed Wang Hao a napkin: "I told you, don’t pinch, it’ll explode."

Wang Hao, with a head full of black lines, wiped his hands, still unconvinced: "Why didn’t anything happen when you squeezed it? The buns seem to have a personal vendetta against me!"

Wang Fan picked up a sauerkraut bun from the plate and explained: "I squeezed this sauerkraut bun. The one you squeezed was a meat bun. Sauerkraut buns have less juice, so you can squeeze them for fun."

Wang Hao retorted angrily, "Then give me two more sauerkraut buns, I want to squeeze them for fun."

As he spoke, he stuffed the squashed bun into his mouth.

Even though most of the juices were wasted, the delicious buns were still tasty.

It was at that perfect temperature, not too hot and not too cold, ideal for a big bite.

The tender meat filling still held a lot of juice. The meat bits mixed with the minced filling provided a nice chewiness without feeling dry.

The subtle ginger and spring onion aroma masked any gamey flavor and yet wasn’t overpowering. How wonderfully savory!

Wang Hao felt like his taste buds had been struck by Cupid’s arrow.

The flavor seemed to grow in his heart.

Eagerly, he grabbed a second bun and shoved it into his mouth.

The first bun he squeezed affected the texture significantly, but the second bun, going in whole, was a completely different experience.

The meat bun’s skin was of perfect thickness. Due to the abundance of juice, the inner layers of the bun’s skin softened during steaming. When lightly bitten, it broke apart in the mouth.

The bun’s juices, finding a breakthrough, flowed all throughout the mouth in an instant.

Wang Hao felt it was slightly hot, and as he tilted his head to expel heat, a stream of juice slid down the corner of his mouth.

Wang Hao swore that on this entire street known for snacks, he had never tasted such a delicious bun!

He could almost swallow his tongue along with it.

Even with a bun still in his mouth, he pulled out another to stuff in.

After two buns, not only did he not feel full, but he felt even hungrier, wanting to keep stuffing buns into his mouth one after another.

Wang Fan took out a disposable plate and scooped a small spoonful of chili oil: "Try dipping it in this."

This time, Wang Hao listened. He dipped the third bun in the chili oil before stuffing it into his mouth.

The chili oil looked fiery, but it was made from Er Jingtiao peppers, highlighting its "aromatic" characteristic.

The slightly spicy flavor paired with the soul-stirring aroma made the buns taste even richer, and Wang Hao was instantly delighted.

With his mouth full of buns, Wang Hao couldn’t speak but kept giving Wang Fan a thumbs-up.

...

...

Feng Yuhao was curiously observing the snack stall, having recently moved and still searching for his favorite local food.

"Pfft..."

Looking around, he suddenly heard his friend Li Wei burst into laughter and curiously asked, "What’s going on? What’s so funny?"

Li Wei pointed towards a direction and said, "Look at that guy over there, his acting is on point. How delicious must those buns be to eat so impatiently?"

Following Li Wei’s pointed direction, Feng Yuhao indeed saw someone devouring the buns eagerly.

The left hand had just stuffed a bun into the mouth and before chewing a few times, the right hand impatiently shoved another in.

Feng Yuhao rolled his eyes: "Maybe he’s just hungry; not everything has to be an act. Hiring extras for a snack stand wouldn’t even cover costs."

Li Wei retorted: "Hah, let me tell you, these businesses have all kinds of tricks now. I once saw a long queue at a milk tea shop and joined in. The tea was terribly sweet and hard to swallow. Later, it turned out they hired actors. Also, I joined a stock trading group before and realized I was the only genuine one trying to learn, while the others were all scammers."

Feng Haoyu had heard of such things but didn’t expect his buddy to experience it first-hand.

However, seeing that person’s wolfing-down manner, he too started to crave some dumplings.

"Anyway, we don’t know what to eat, why not go over and take a look?"

Li Wei didn’t object but said, "Don’t have high expectations, or you’ll end up more disappointed."

Feng Haoyu shrugged: "It’s just breakfast, what’s there to expect."

Chatting idly, the two walked up to Wang Fan’s stall.

"Boss, how much are the buns?"

Wang Fan introduced with a smile: "These are meat buns, and these are sauerkraut pork buns, both 10 yuan for 5."

Feng Haoyu thought it was a bit pricey: "Two yuan each for such small buns, isn’t that a bit steep, boss?"

Wang Fan explained: "The buns cost a bit more to make, and these are traditional recipes using the freshest ingredients. This price is already quite reasonable. I guarantee they’re delicious; if not, I’ll give you a refund."

Wang Fan had absolute confidence in the taste of his buns.

With just a whiff of that aroma, who could shamelessly claim they were bad?

The ancestral guardian of buns, revered Mr. Zhuge, would haunt someone’s dream, cursing them as ’never have I seen such shamelessness!’

Before Feng Haoyu could respond, Wang Hao, who was savoring with delight, spoke up: "Boss, give me 10 more meat buns, I swear, after finishing 5 meat buns, I thought I’d just have two sauerkraut pork buns to fill the cracks, but I end up even hungrier."

Li Wei asked Wang Hao skeptically: "Dude, are the buns really that good?"

With a lingering taste on his face, Wang Hao replied: "Delicious, absolutely heavenly, I swear. I’ve tasted everything around here, and I bet no other buns compare."

Keep acting!

I must say, your acting is impressive.

Li Wei muttered to himself: "Let me unmask you; once I’ve tasted them, I’ll loudly declare they’re not tasty."
