Chapter 227 - 240: I Know Whether You Are Cold or Not
CHAPTER 227: CHAPTER 240: I KNOW WHETHER YOU ARE COLD OR NOT
An Ran watched her back and involuntarily twitched her lips. The change in her behavior was too fast.
Mu Xingfeng gently squeezed her little hand, "Let’s go, I’ll take you to buy clothes."
"Ah?" An Ran didn’t quite understand, hadn’t he just complained about the cold weather?
"What’s with the ’ah’? Let’s go." Mu Xingfeng said, pulling An Ran’s little hand and heading downstairs.
Grandma Mu saw the two of them holding hands and nudged Old Mr. Mu, who was reading the newspaper. The old man glanced at them lightly, snorted, and then buried himself back in the newspaper.
"Grandpa, Grandma, I’m taking An Ran out for a stroll," Mu Xingfeng greeted the two elders.
"Go on, go on, have fun with Ran," Grandma Mu said, her eyes wrinkling with a smile as she waved her hand.
At the door, after putting on the clothes handed over by the servant, Mu Xingfeng looked An Ran up and down. Thinking for a moment, he wrapped his scarf around her, finally feeling a bit more satisfied.
With only her eyes visible, An Ran helplessly rubbed her forehead, "Actually, I think the northern weather is okay, it’s not as cold as I imagined."
"Whether you’re cold or not, I know," Mu Xingfeng said, making sure there were no oversights before he took her little hand and headed out the door.
An Ran followed behind him, rolling her eyes in her mind. What does he mean he knows whether she’s cold or not?
After the two of them left, Grandma Mu grabbed the newspaper from Old Mr. Mu’s hand, "What’s wrong with you, old man? Why do you have to act so cold towards others? Weren’t you also eagerly waiting for a granddaughter-in-law?"
"Of course, I want a granddaughter-in-law, but I’m afraid that girl won’t become my granddaughter-in-law," Old Mr. Mu snatched back the newspaper, gave it a shake, and continued reading.
"What do you mean? Old man, although I like Ruonan a lot too, if Xingfeng likes someone else, I won’t allow you to do anything to hurt the children’s feelings. Times have changed; arranged marriages no longer work," Grandma Mu said, her face falling after hearing Old Mr. Mu’s tone.
Her grandson had never shown much warmth to anyone since he was young, but today she saw another side of him, all because of that girl, which showed the position that girl held in his heart.
Lin Ruonan had come to the Mu Family many times, and Mu Xingfeng had never shown any interest in her. After all these years, it was clear the two did not get along. No matter how the families tried to matchmake, it was useless. A forced melon is never sweet.
"Old woman, where’s your mind wandering to? How could I possibly try to destroy the kids’ feelings? Besides, today at lunch, Zhenzong told me something, that girl is the one who saved Xingfeng back then."
This indeed came as a surprise to the old man. He had initially thought it strange that Mu Xingfeng, who was always at the barracks, would get to know such a little girl and treat her so well, thinking it was some kind of act. Only after his son explained it did he understand.
His grandson was cold on the outside but warm on the inside. That little girl had saved him once. Repaying the kindness doesn’t need to be said, but the fact that he was so considerate towards her showed that this time, his grandson was genuinely serious.
"Are you talking about when the flood happened?" Grandma Mu asked in astonishment.
"Yes, I do want a granddaughter-in-law, but I want a great-grandson even more. At noon I asked them to get their marriage license, but that brat actually refused. So, I, the old man, have to figure this out properly," Old Mr. Mu said.
What Old Mr. Mu had noticed was that his grandson truly liked that girl, but the girl seemed to be a bit cold towards Mu Xingfeng. His grandson, being much older, was shy about being assertive. He needed to think of a way to get them to obtain their marriage license soon to put his mind at ease.
