CHAPTER 275: CHAPTER 288: SHOULD WE ADD FUEL TO THE FIRE?
"Alright Nan, leave it to Grandpa. Grandpa won’t let you suffer any grievances. Xingfeng was just momentarily confused. Since he took a bullet for you, it shows you hold a place in his heart. He just didn’t see it clearly. You two go rest now," he said, waving his hand at them.
Once the two walked out of the door, Old Mr. Lin picked up the phone. This matter had clearly been agreed upon with Old Man Mu, and it couldn’t just be let go like this.
When Grandma Mu returned home and saw Old Mr. Mu on the phone, her face grew more displeased the more she listened. After Old Mr. Mu hung up the phone, Grandma Mu asked coldly, "A call from Old Man Lin? What does he mean by this? What did you promise him?"
Old Mr. Mu was also getting a headache from this phone call. He did have a fondness for the girl from the Lin Family, but what could he do if his grandson didn’t like her?
"Old lady, what could I promise him? Didn’t you warn me not to interfere in the kids’ marriages anymore? I had just agreed with him that if Xingfeng hadn’t found a suitable partner by the Lunar New Year, our two families would unite in marriage. That was also my final ultimatum to Xingfeng."
Hearing this, Grandma Mu’s face finally softened a bit. "Since that’s the case, Xingfeng has already brought back a girlfriend. So what are you two still muttering and calculating over?"
"What am I calculating?!" Old Mr. Mu was displeased with this accusation; he didn’t want the old lady to misunderstand him meddling in the kids’ affairs. She’d been criticizing him for half his life over their son’s matters. "Old Man Lin told me to keep my eyes open and not let any unsavory woman fool Xingfeng. I told him that’s the kids’ business. As long as Xingfeng is happy, I won’t interfere no matter what background the girl has."
"Hmph, good that you have some sense," Grandma Mu said with a smile that appeared to have remembered something. Coming over to Old Mr. Mu’s side, she said, "Let me tell you, our Xingfeng has excellent taste. I went to see that girl today, guess what? She was in the kitchen cooking for Xingfeng."
"What can such a young girl cook?" Old Mr. Mu said indifferently.
"I thought the same, but that girl made some really good dishes, and all of them were Xingfeng’s favorites. Xingfeng spends most of his time at work. Having a wife who understands him and can cook would really be a blessing for him, and we’d also have peace of mind."
The more Grandma Mu spoke, the more content she became, and Old Mr. Mu stroked his beard and nodded. "From what you’re saying, this girl is indeed quite good. Do you think we should speed things up and settle this matter during this holiday?"
"How to speed things up? It’d be best if they got married right away, so we could look forward to having a great-grandchild. With our handsome grandson and the charming girl, the baby would surely be adorable."
"I, the old man, will have to think about this carefully." Saying this, Old Mr. Mu clasped his hands behind his back and walked into the study.
As dinner approached, An Ran had yet to come downstairs. After much consideration, Mu Xingfeng decided to go upstairs and check on the little girl.
When he opened the bedroom door, he saw An Ran sitting by the bed, looking out the window, her back desolate.
Actually, An Ran didn’t want to avoid going downstairs. She just didn’t know how to face Mu Xingfeng when she saw him.
After going back upstairs and sleeping a while, she had fully sobered up. Although she disliked the medicine, it was beneficial for her body, and Mu Xingfeng’s intention was for her own good. However, she had unreasonably thrown a tantrum at him.
Moreover, she must have scared him afterwards, right? She remembered Instructor Mu’s voice had changed. Considering he was such a composed person, what scenarios hadn’t he faced before? Yet she had frightened him to the point that his voice trembled. An Ran found this quite amusing.
