Leng Yan’s company had a female intern who was in her junior year at university.

It was still two o’clock in the afternoon, so it couldn’t be Leng Yan coming home from the company. Xia Nuo opened the door in confusion, surprised to find Zhou Panpan standing there.

“Hello, Sister Xia Nuo. I’m here to take a file for the boss. He said he left it at home, could you please find it for me?” Zhou Panpan said with a slight smile.

Xia Nuo hesitated for a moment before nodding, “Wait a moment, I’ll find it for you.”

Leng Yan had left the file on his desk. She took it and handed it to Zhou Panpan, who smiled and said, “This is the one. Sister Xia Nuo, I’m leaving, goodbye.”

“Mm, goodbye.” Xia Nuo closed the door and returned to cooking.

But she accidentally added too much salt, and the dish turned out to be quite inedible.

When Leng Yan came home in the afternoon, he saw two dishes on the table. He walked into the kitchen and found Xia Nuo making soup.

Rolling up his sleeves, he approached her from behind and hugged her.

“Why didn’t you wait for me to come home to cook?” he asked with a smile.

Since Xia Nuo’s cooking skills were consistently poor, Leng Yan usually did the cooking.

Without raising her head, Xia Nuo replied, “You’re busy with work. How could I ask you to cook after you get off work? If I keep being lazy, you’d probably get tired of me.”

Leng Yan didn’t catch the underlying meaning of her words and replied with a cheerful smile, “I won’t get tired of you. Even if I cook for you every day, I wouldn’t get tired of you.”

Xia Nuo glanced at him amusedly, then pushed him away to set the tableware.

During dinner, she didn’t pick up her chopsticks. Leng Yan first tasted a piece of braised beef with radish, frowning slightly as he swallowed the dish.

“There’s too much salt,” he commented with a smile, and took a few more bites without any sign of disdain.

Xia Nuo moved the dish aside and said, “Don’t eat if it’s not tasty. I started cooking in the afternoon, and someone came knocking, which startled me into adding too much salt.”

“Oh.” Leng Yan nodded in understanding and then said, “So, Zhou Panpan came, right? I asked her to fetch the file.”

Truthfully, he hadn’t asked her to come.

He had planned to return himself, but he needed to take an important call, and Zhou Panpan volunteered to fetch the file for him.

He didn’t want Xia Nuo to make a special trip just to deliver a file, so he agreed to let Zhou Panpan come.

Xia Nuo’s expression remained calm as she pushed the dish aside and brought the soup in front of him, “Eat this, I didn’t add much salt to the soup.”
