Chapter 201: Chapter 201: Brother Lu’s Family of Four

“Exit?” Mrs. Lu wondered why they were at the exit. Were they there to pick someone up? Was someone coming?

The whole family stood waiting beside the station exit.

Xiao Yu watched his parents, who were being mysteriously secretive, and slowly started smiling, carefully watching the crowd at the exit.

Soon, four familiar figures appeared.

“Grandpa, grandma~”

“Uncle, auntie~”

“Brother Lu, younger brothers, and sisters~”

“Grandpa, grandma, it’s uncle, aunt, and the sisters.” Xiao Yu pointed out, smiling, to his grandparents.

“Where’s elder sister?” The triplets, barely as tall as an adult’s legs, were anxious, hopping around to see their sisters.

“Elder sister~” The triplets were lifted high, waving their little hands through the crowd to their uncle’s daughters.

Susu and Lu Xiaoting exchanged a knowing smile before setting off. They had already discussed with Brother Lu and his wife not to mention that the family of four would return early to join them for fun and all go home together.

They wanted to give their parents and children a big surprise.

The old couple were only able to process what was happening when they finally got on the train, “I was wondering why Susu would bring us to the station out of the blue, turns out the eldest son and his family are back.”

“Hehe, well mom, aren’t you surprised?”

“Surprised, definitely surprised.” The old couple, holding their grandson in their lap, couldn’t stop smiling with joy.

Jiang Nan laughed heartily, “Mom, dad, we heard sister-in-law was taking you on a trip. So, my husband and I thought, why not bring the kids back early for some fun. Besides, the children at home kept talking about wanting to see their brothers and sisters.”

“Sister-in-law, you’re too amazing, you can drive now? How long did you learn for? Brother told me to learn so I could drive in case of an emergency.”

Jiang Nan looked impressed and envious; the sister-in-law was really impressive.

Susu thought to herself that she was a modern-era veteran driver, coughed dryly, “I was lucky. The brother selling the car taught me, and after practicing for a morning, I was set to go. I guess I have a talent for it. My husband’s driving isn’t great yet; he still needs to practice before hitting the road.”

Jiang Nan’s eyes bulged with amazement. Their sister-in-law was incredible!!!

She was driving so well after just one morning?

“Sister-in-law, you’re truly amazing. I feel you drive even better than your brother.”

Susu modestly smiled, “It’s alright, just fine.”

“Mom is the best~”

“Yes, I have the best, best, best mom~”

“Auntie is so amazing~”

“Hahaha, stop praising me or I might get too proud,” Susu laughed heartily, quickly changing the subject to avoid getting carried away by the children’s compliments.

“Elder sister-in-law, let’s go directly to eat later.”

“Okay, we’ll do as you say.”

At this point, the siblings had already started chatting among themselves.

Susu’s group of ten adults and children ordered their meals before Brother Lu and Lu Xiaoting arrived.

In those days, there were no traffic police to check for overloaded vehicles. Susu’s car had Xiao Yu and Xiao Xue sitting in the passenger seat while Father Lu, Mrs. Lu, and Jiang Nan with Tianyu squeezed in the back row; the triplets were cradled in the adults’ laps.

Lu Xiaoting and Brother Lu decided to take the bus to the restaurant they had booked in advance.

During the meal, Brother Lu brought up the changes in Yangcheng, the rapid economic development, and the booming real estate industry.

House prices were also rising very fast, and with the current rate of development, it seemed wages wouldn’t be able to keep up with the rising cost of housing.

Susu nodded, Brother Lu’s mind was still very sharp, deserving of his transformation from a regular construction worker to a distinguished figure in real estate.

Jiang Nan had also hired someone to run a small restaurant, and she now dedicated herself to her two children, dropping them off and picking them up from school, as well as taking them to the youth palace to study art.

After the adults finished eating, they sat around chatting. The children had finished their meals earlier and were together, talking.

After the meal, as usual, Susu took the elders, the children, and the luggage and drove straight home, while the two brothers walked home.

Jiang Nan looked at the courtyard in confusion, “Sister-in-law, aren’t we going to a hotel?”

“That’s our home, elder aunt; we all live here.”

Jiang Nan was amazed, “Oh my, sister-in-law, judging by the current house prices, this suite must have been expensive. Your elder brother and I also came back this time thinking about looking at houses in the Capital.”

“Tell you what, I’ll call Xiao Li, who helps me with house-hunting, tomorrow to keep an eye out for us. If there’s anything suitable, we could go take a look.”

Meanwhile, the two brothers walking home were talking about buying a house. Brother Lu knew the value of properties well without needing Lu Xiaoting to say anything.

The next morning, Susu went to the small shop at the corner of the street to call Xiao Li.

“Hey, no worries, elder sister, leave it to me. By the way, elder sister, you’re planning to spend some time in the Capital lately, right? My husband’s company provides car rentals.

Usually, foreigners need an introduction letter and a deposit, but with my husband, you don’t need to worry much about the deposit. It’s just a bit more expensive, but if you need it, I can arrange it for you.”

“That’s great, thank you, Xiao Li.”

Susu was delighted; it was like someone had offered her a pillow just as she felt sleepy. And she had been worrying about not having enough transport for everyone.

Susu immediately mentioned this, and Brother Lu and his elder sister-in-law both agreed on renting a car, offering to pay for it.

That was settled promptly, and the four of them drove to the car rental company they visited last time and rented a reasonably priced sedan.

They had arrived in one car, but returned with two, drawing curious onlookers from the neighbors once again.

To prevent any potential damage to the vehicle, the family quickly disassembled the threshold and drove the car into the yard.

Thankfully, the yard was large enough, yet one more car and it would’ve been a tight fit.

Without further ado, Susu eagerly took several photos of the grandparents, brothers, and sisters near the car.

On the first day, the family of twelve, six per car, left ample time for their first destination. Packed with plenty of food and water, they set out to climb the Great Wall.

The children started off full of energy, running and jumping around, but by the time they made their way down, they were wilted.

After a day of climbing, not only the kids, but the adults were exhausted, too.

Of course, there was no shortage of photo-taking, along with sitting down for a bite and a drink. And as law-abiding citizens of Hua Country, they certainly didn’t litter.

Apart from the historically significant sights of the Capital, there was no missing out on the local delicacies, like roast duck, Donkey Rolling… and soybean juice, among others.

As Lu Xiaoting and Susu, who had already experienced the flavor of soybean juice, did not prevent the ten brave souls from having their first taste.

In the end, only Mrs. Lu barely managed to drink half a bowl. As expected, no one else could get used to it.
