CHAPTER 144: AN ANNOYING CHAT

The demon is definitely a lot different from Lazarus in many ways. He doesn’t seem to be the cocky type of demon that the other one was.

They’ve both have wanted to have these conversations about bullshit like this though. These goals of ours or admitting to weakness.

His eyes weren’t set on me like Lazarus, he was more focused on Akina.

Most beings from the tower floors will probably remember Akina since she is a tower goddess. It would be weird if they didn’t know who she was or recognize her in the slightest.

I didn’t think it was weird for him to be focused on her, it just surprised me a little bit. Usually I’ve had to deal with the eyes on me more than anyone else.

It’s kind of a relief for once in awhile but I don’t really know what to expect from this whole situation. Talking with demons hasn’t proven to be a good thing so far.

Well, the demons in the tower aren’t exactly that similar to the demons from the seven realms. Lilly is a lot different from the ones you’ve met here if you haven’t noticed.

But even if they are from one of the realms, they’d still be different from Lilly.

I’m definitely quite curious about what lies within those realms since they are supposed to be pretty powerful there.

It makes me wonder if the realms are the only source of demons or if there is a heaven and hell. You’d think there should be one since we have met an angel recently.

You’ve heard about heaven from the Angel already, you know what happened. I’m sure the demon realms aren’t much better but I understand what you’re saying.

Hell doesn’t necessarily exist within your world since the realms do instead.

Yeah. I didn’t ever read anything about how heaven and hell should be, I only ever heard people talk briefly about it. Most people don’t believe we have them after everything that happened with the world.

That if a god exists, he has forsaken us.

I don’t really blame them for thinking that way about it since we haven’t really been in a good spot since the collapse. Monsters roaming the earth, people getting even more violent, awakenings, and even the new way of living in the world happened.

So many events that make sense for why people would think that way.

Quite the ramble from you. Humans really are interesting, especially the more I talk to you about things. I’ve learned quite a bit since your awakening.

It just happens sometimes, not something I usually do that often.

"So the tower goddess is climbing a tower." The demon says with a bit of a grin.

"I’m curious about someone, so yes I’m climbing a tower." Akina replies, still gripping her pistol.

"Very rare for someone like you to be curious about anyone at all." The demon speaks with a bit of shock in his voice.

"It surprised me as well. But it won’t matter to you anyway." Akina responds with a bit of an irritated tone.

I’m happy she can do some of the talking for this since I don’t really like talking to demons anyway. These kinds of chats are also pretty annoying in my opinion.

Talking about a bunch of nonsense like it means anything at all.

I guess it is better than fighting against him since we could just enjoy the rest instead for the time being. We’ve been doing a lot of fighting lately so it would be nice to have some breaks in between.

It doesn’t really help with my growth much if we talk with every single enemy that we encounter.

Not every single person is an enemy. I get how you could think that way in a tower like this though. Most people would assume that they are only enemies within the tower instead of the possibility of them being friendly.

Friendly floors do exist, we found those in the other tower.

But friendly encounters with actual beings is something different entirely so I can understand the concern.

Friendly beings is still going to be a concern since we don’t know their true intentions when we meet. It’ll be a gamble regardless of how many times we deal with these people.

I don’t really know what to expect when it comes to handling talkative people. I’ve not been the best with talking to anyone.

That is complete bullshit and you know it. Look at the girls who’ve joined you and the men who trained you.

Alarion wouldn’t train you for no reason, he helped you because you made a good impression. You saved the city from the reaper and you didn’t say the wrong things to him.

The fight against his brother also put you a bit more in his favor.

You could consider that as lucky. Luck was on my side for that entire journey in Elyndra so I wouldn’t say it was because of my responses.

I don’t think I talked that much with Alarion, or maybe I did. We did spend some time training together which did give us the opportunity to talk about some things.

The families of Elyndra are definitely quite different from what I expected.

Akina and the demon talked for quite some time while I continued my conversation with Rika about the journey in Elyndra. It wasn’t that bad talking about everything... Just felt different.

Velia and Ghost also didn’t seem to be enjoying this whole conversation thing. It was annoying to sit here while they talked about the entirety of the tower.

Talking about the floors, our goal with the tower, and even who this person of interest is.

He didn’t tell her anything about the floors in this tower, how odd. It’s like he specifically left out details about this tower for a reason.

But she also didn’t mention you being the person of interest either which is a good thing. Keeping you a bit more under the radar is kind of important so that you don’t get too much attention.

I’m sure I already have the attention of a few people since I’ve been making my way around. Even if it isn’t these beings, the hunters are probably getting a bit more suspicious of me.

Most can tell that I’m not a high ranking hunter since I’d be around more or have a patch indicating it.

I’ve noticed some of the higher ranking hunters have a patch, so that’s the assumption I can make. I’ll have to get my rank adjusted when I head back to the guild hall.

Maybe Lucien can help me out with that since I did do some stuff for him lately.

You went to Elyndra and prevented a war, you dealt with these watchers that were targeting people from his city, and now you are helping with the tower.

I’d say he definitely owes you some good compensation by now for all the help you’ve given him.

At least that’s the right thing for him to do.

I can only hope that he’ll be willing to do the right thing since I haven’t given him a reason not to.

I’m still keeping an eye on him though. He hasn’t really given me a reason to distrust him so I don’t know why I’m overthinking it. Lucien has been a pretty good guy with each encounter we’ve had so far.

Rokuro the yapper. That’s kind of what you are today, did you think about that?

It’s the only way to avoid the annoying conversation they are having. I don’t want to focus on it or I’m going to get angry. I don’t want to be in a shitty mood because of this whole conversation.

They’ve been talking about stupid shit for an hour now and I don’t want to think about it more.

A whole hour of bullshit!

She’s trying to get useful information out of him, at least that’s what it seems like.

I think it’s almost over so it doesn’t really matter if she was figuring anything out or not. It hasn’t sounded like anything useful with the entirety of what I have heard.

The times I paid attention have proven to be pretty useless.

Maybe she is taking more from it then we are so I wouldn’t discredit what she’s doing. Akina seems like a rather smart individual, give her the chance to deal with this.

"It seems that you are fit to pass in my opinion. I have no reason to fight against any of you and Akina has proven that this is worth ignoring." The demon says with a grin still on his face.

"So like that, we are good to move forward?" I ask with a bit of confusion in my voice.

"Yes. I don’t see a need to keep you all from moving forward. I just ask that you let me give you a little story about the boss you will face ahead." The demon responds with a casual tone.
