From a Talentless nobody to An SSS Class Dragon
Chapter 145: Storytime
CHAPTER 145: STORYTIME
I didn’t see a reason for us to ignore the idea of a story from this guy. It’s related to the boss we are about to face anyway so it could be helpful in the fight against it.
"Well, start telling us." I say with a bit of an impatient tone.
(He starts to tell the story.)
A long time ago there was a spirit that used to protect the Great tree, a tree said to grant insane power to anyone who can make it to the top.
The spirit that protects this tree was there for hundreds of years without anyone ever making it there. That was the case until finally someone made it to the top without any struggle whatsoever.
A man wearing all black with his face just barely visible. He didn’t disrespect the spirit or say much about the tree.
The goal of the man was to see the top of the tree, to see if the legend about it all was true or not. It was only a rumor since no one ever reached the top in all the years that it existed.
This man was said to be one of the first ever Monarch’s that came to exist within the world.
Slowly allowing for more Monarch’s to appear over time. The spirit got to witness the awakening of one of the strongest beings of all time.
But the monarch granted something to the spirit to show his appreciation for the spirit. He thought it was impressive that the spirit stayed up here all these y are without ever leaving once.
Realistically he should’ve been attacked by the spirit since he had reached the top but nothing ever happened.
"Why didn’t the spirit attack him to begin with or question anything?" I interrupt with a bit of curiosity.
"The spirit wasn’t sure that it was worth fighting against the man. I also think the spirit was just tired of being up there all alone for so many years." The demon responds.
But eventually the monarch helped with the concept of towers and asked the spirit about leaving it’s post to help with a greater purpose.
At first it was hesitant but then the monarch found a way to bring the tree into the tower floor of the spirit. So you also have a chance to find great power within that floor since the tree is there.
(He finishes up the story.)
I’m kind of baffled that a tree like that would exist in the first place, but I guess I would’ve expected it to be a tree guarding some sort of immortality.
It seems to be something different entirely though, not that it’s a bad thing to achieve insane power. Being able to get stronger and stronger is the goal to begin with.
I won’t be able to stop the monarch if I don’t keep finding ways to get stronger and stronger. They are still leagues above me in so many different ways that it isn’t fun at all.
There’s no guarantee that the tree will still have that kind of capability. I doubt the monarch would allow something like that.
If they do... I’d be so confused since that would allow for the creation of multiple powerful beings. That’s not something I’d expect them to want in the slightest.
It could be the best way to make strong enough people to keep up with the goals he has in mind. If it was the monarch of chaos, then I definitely think he’d want people to make it to the top of the tree.
He can build an army of powerful people to help with maintaining whatever the hell his plan is. Keeping the chaos going within all the worlds or whatever.
At least that’s my current thought about it.
Especially since it’ll make it impossible to fight back if they just have people at the same level as the monarchs. We’d never be able to stop them.
People still have to reach the top of the tree for that to be possible though. The demon made it quite clear that it is not an easy feat to achieve.
The Monarch was one of the first ones to make it to the top in a long time so it isn’t easy whatsoever. That should give us some hope about getting done with that before anyone else can.
We might be able to prevent the army from growing if we do it smart.
Luckily the tree is on our path or else we would never have gotten the chance to climb it. The demon also gave us a lot of valuable information about it too.
I don’t think we would’ve messed with the tree otherwise if we didn’t know anything that he told us. All of that information is pretty damn important for us if we want to get ahead.
There’s no guarantee that the strength will shoot me up to the monarch’s level but it could still make a difference.
The story was definitely something.
It tells you that the Monarch’s weren’t alwaye the insanely powerful beings we know but they had to be tough enough to make the climb.
Nobody can just make climbs like that without having the proper strength to do so.
Yeah I’m quite impressed by the fact that they could do that. It just pisses me off that the monarch wanted to bring about the collapse like it did.
Bringing monsters into my world, killing so many people, and just disappearing like nothing ever happened. That asshole really pisses me off...
Why couldn’t he have used the new power to do something good for the world instead of plunging it into darkness. Why did we all have to suffer from the chaos he threw us into.
We should’ve been living our lives like normal but instead we got this shit instead.
The way they think is beyond me. I’ve witnessed the destruction they cause in my world as well so you can imagine that I know all about the pain you feel.
They’ve always brought about chaos and destruction to the worlds they visit.
That’s exactly why we need to make sure that they can never do it again, by killing them all and making sure to eradicate the monsters from the world.
Yeah. I haven’t figured out how to completely wipe the monsters out from the world or how to find the Monarch’s, but we’ll figure it all out.
We always figure out a way to get through the hardest of situations.
"Rokuro, are we heading for the next floor?" Akina asks with a curious tone.
"Y-Yeah. Seems the story is done." I respond, slightly caught off guard.
I was too invested in the conversation with Rika to pay attention to what was happening around me so I didn’t know he was done. Everyone else was probably awkwardly waiting for me to say something else.
So with that... We made our way out of the floor and towards the next door. It didn’t take too long for us to find it since the demon pointed us in the right direction.
The door didn’t seem to be anything crazy this time either, just a pretty normal door with some vines going down it. It definitely gave off a nature like Appearance which isn’t bad.
There was no reason to hesitate with going through it so that’s exactly what we did. Pushed open the door and went right through without wasting any time.
[9] The Spirit.
The floor was a beautiful forest with lots of little fairy like beings flying around. Even the flowers here were quite beautiful to look at so this was definitely one of the nicer floors to be on.
I don’t really know what to expect here since it doesn’t seem to be deadly. The floor seems to be on the peaceful side but it could just be deceiving us for the time being.
Making us think it’s a peaceful floor before stabbing a bunch of spikes through our hearts or something.
I can’t really sense anything hostile around us yet. That thought of yours might just be a wasteful worry.
This seems to be the floor with the tree that the demon was talking about though, you are staring right at it.
She was right because directly ahead of me was the exact tree that the demon talked about. It looked like it went up endlessly, like the sky didn’t even matter.
The climb up this tree was probably going to take forever to reach the top. It definitely looked like it had a rough surface with very little spots to stop along the way.
"Looks like we have a fun climb waiting for us." Velia speaks up with her usual monotone voice.
"Fun? That looks awful." Ghost responds with a bit of worry in her voice.
A climb that we have to take on regardless of how everyone feels about it. That strength is quite important to get so I will climb to the top no matter what.
