CHAPTER 148: THE BEGINNING OF A PAINFUL CLIMB (2)
I eventually woke up to an empty bed with no one else around. It was weird why was it so quiet and where was Ghost?
It only took a moment for me to get out of bed since this definitely caught my attention pretty quick. After making sure I had everything, I walk out of the tent to see if the other girls are out here, but it was completely silent.
Nobody seems to be in sight either.
The girls wouldn’t just suddenly disappear so what the hell happened last night? I’m pretty positive that they wouldn’t climb up without me so this is strange.
I’m very confused about what the hell is happening right now.
Pierce!! I could suddenly feel a sharp pain in my chest as if something pierced right through it. Looking down I can see a giant wooden spear through it.
Blood was spilling onto the floor with each passing second as the spear suddenly started to lift me off of the ground.
"Nghh– What the hell!?!" I shout in pain while up in the air.
Before getting a chance to react I got thrown off the branch, slowly feeling the piercing pain disappear. The pain was still in my chest but the spear had removed itself.
I was now falling towards the bottom of the tree, what happened?
Rika?!?! I don’t understand what’s happening right now, is this real?
It is real. Rokuro we need to use the wings now or we are going to splatter across the ground at the bottom.
Without wasting any time I begin to form the wings just in time to stop me from hitting the floor. That told me I should check around down here to make sure the girls didn’t have this fate.
There wasn’t any bodies down here at all though, just plain old grass.
I’m not sure I understand anything that’s happening right now but the girls are still gone with no traces of what happened. Either they got taken up or Akina got them out of here without thinking.
I don’t understand why she’d leave me behind here, that is the only problem I have right now.
I’m appreciative of her saving the girls but I was left behind to deal with whatever the hell that was. Taking a wooden spear to the chest is not a pleasant feeling whatsoever.
Definitely would not recommend it to anyone in the future.
Let’s stop the bleeding and head back up there. It would be best to take advantage of the fact that it is just us at the moment.
You can fully utilize the wings to just fly up to the top instead of climbing the whole tree.
I’d still like to know that the girls are actually safe... So flying to the top is probably the smart option to take right now. Especially since they aren’t down here at the bottom of the tree.
I used my power to stop the bleeding, it was still quite painful though. But it was time to head to the top of this damn tree.
There was no hesitation to use the wings so I made my way back towards the top while avoiding that entire wooden spear thing. As I passed by it was gone, like it was never there in the first place.
It was still empty around the camp so there was no need for me to stop.
The wings were also taking a moment for me to fully adjust to since Rika was the one who used them the last time I had them. This was a brand new experience for me to master on my own.
It wasn’t that bad since I was already used to them being on my back, just not used to actually using them.
Guess we can still focus on reaching the top of the tree. The girls are either up there or Akina got them out of the tower altogether.
I don’t see why she’d go down that path suddenly but everything happens for a reason I guess. We’ll take advantage of this and get stronger, that would be the best possible choice right now.
Originally I was hoping to share with them since we have been in this together but I guess you are right. Taking advantage since it is just me... That would be the best course of action.
Flap. Flap. I began to soar up towards the top of the tree, cutting down so much time. It would’ve taken us a long ass time to get to the top of the tree.
It only got worse the further up I got. There weren’t many spots to rest after the first one we reached so this would’ve been a terrible climb.
But finally I reached the top of the tree, everything was definitely a lot different up here.
A giant open space with a giant crystal like object in the middle, strange energy flowing all around it. It was a giant red crystal with this white energy around it. That’s the exact thing I’m seeing at least.
Next to it is a woman with a nice dress, long green hair, green eyes, elf ears, and she appears to be holding some sort of staff.
"Someone else has managed to climb the tree. This is definitely quite shocking. I was assured that it would be impossible and that people would skip past the tree to head up the tower." She speaks with a bit of shock in her voice.
"The top of the tree is said to have tremendous amounts of power. I was quite curious to see how true it was since I heard the monarch of chaos also made it up here." I respond while staring right at her.
"Perhaps. Both of those are true but I can’t just give another being power, not after what I witnessed." She says with a bit of disappointment.
"I don’t want to fight you for this power, even a little bit would make a big difference." I reply with a calm, yet serious tone.
I can probably get strong enough with my own power but I’m unsure if it would be enough to face the monarch. They are definitely way stronger than me on so many levels.
It is possible to reach there with more power and training but this power could also help make that a bit faster. Being able to get stronger faster from this would be a blessing itself.
I don’t think she will allow it though.
Fighting against a spirit is also not going to be an easy battle by myself since the girls have disappeared. Is there really no way for me to convince her?
"What exactly do you want this power for? If you don’t mind me asking." The girl asks with a curious tone.
"I want to save my world from the fate it was given by the monarch. He brought monsters, dungeons, and so much more to my world. I’d like to destroy them and fix my world." I answered without the slightest bit of hesitation.
"You don’t seem to be lying either. It is easy to read humans so I’m baffled that you’d be telling the truth about such a thing. Seeing the end of his chaos would probably be a good sight." She speaks with a calm tone.
The Monarch of chaos no longer bringing any chaos would definitely be quite the experience for everyone. I don’t know what would happen to the other worlds he’s brought chaos to but I’m sure they would be alright.
Maybe I’ll save them in the process of saving my own world as well.
I just don’t know what else will happen since heaven itself is also kind of gone, at least according to the Angel. Thinking back on it...
Who even gave me the chance to awaken then? The heavens were destroyed or whatever so that means that I wasn’t being watched after all.
Did I just happen to get lucky enough to earn an awakening after all these years? No, surely that couldn’t be the case.
I’ve also been able to avoid deaths calling every single time, that couldn’t be luck at that point. There’s something I’m not understanding about any of this anymore.
I looked towards the crystal and slowly made my way towards it. The girl didn’t seem to have any problems with me getting closer, actually she gestured for me to come closer as well.
"I’ll let you have a taste of it, just don’t make me regret giving you this opportunity." She says with a serious tone.
I was finally standing before the crystal as I continue to gaze into it. Brief images were appearing with each second that passed.
Images of what’s to come and what I could be capable of doing after adding this to my current power.
I can become an even more powerful dragon with this kind of power... One that can stand against the monarch’s.
