From a Talentless nobody to An SSS Class Dragon
Chapter 16: First Dungeon (3)
CHAPTER 16: FIRST DUNGEON (3)
I didn’t understand what just happened to me or if everything is okay... I heard ghost say my name but I haven’t had it in me to respond yet.
I looked down at my arms once again to see that everything was still the same as before, nothing went away. The scales were still throughout my arms and I could still feel this weird burning sensation within my body.
"Yeah Ghost?" I respond while looking at her.
My vision didn’t seem to be all distorted anymore so that was a plus side but I don’t know what to do about the rest of me. Regardless of if this is a talent or failed talent awakening or whatever... If it can’t go away, I’ll be seen as a monster.
"That’s a relief... I thought you might’ve turned into a monster." Ghost says while letting out a relieved sigh.
"Yeah I don’t think I’m a monster but this is definitely different." I reply while observing my body once more.
My heartbeat is still loud like drums but everything else seemed to be a bit better. Blood from my wounds disappeared so this healed me and even stopped the pain.
My first time in a dungeon and I find out that this is what dwells within me? I’ve definitely got even more questions about my purpose now but at least this means I’m not completely lost.
Talentless?
That isn’t even something that can be described anymore since I don’t know what this power does. Is it even a talent? Or did I awaken something better.
"Are we continuing forward?" Ghost asks with a bit of curiosity in her voice.
I’m glad she’s not scared of this form I’m in since I don’t know how to change it back or how to call it out. It all kind of happened when I saw Ghost about to be attacked by that damn monster.
I scratch my head and look towards the wall I hit the monster into. It’s also not completely dark in here anymore, this is definitely odd.
I’ll just have to deal with it for now since there’s still more to explore in the dungeon anyway. I’d rather not waste the time and see if we can find anything interesting.
Besides, I need to understand if this power is something permanent or if it’s just going to disappear. I’ve never understood how any of that stuff works before since I didn’t ever think I’d awaken anything.
"Yes. I believe it’s best to keep exploring the dungeon." I answer with confidence.
With that we didn’t need to talk for now, just venture forward. That’s exactly what we did too.
Following a path that diverts off the wall from where the creatures remains were, a dimly light corridor was before us. I took the lead with this since I wanted to keep ghost safe as well.
It’s weird... I never thought that I’d have anything like this happen to me but why didn’t this happen when I almost died to the whisperspawns?
Something here definitely triggered it in some way or another so I’ll need to find out what it was. Or would it better to leave it alone instead?
I don’t really want to lose this kind of power after finally awakening something after all these years. I’m probably just overthinking it right now since I’m still feeling all the adrenaline pumping.
That burning sensation hasn’t gone away either so I wonder if that’s just going to be a permanent effect.
"It’s kind of quiet here. Isn’t that strange?" Ghost mentions while looking around the corridor.
I don’t know what’s normal for a dungeon so I can’t say that it’s a bad thing necessarily. Maybe we’re finally getting a bit of a break after that last monster.
"I don’t know actually. I’d say to stay on guard if anything." I recommend while staring ahead.
The corridor seemed like it would go on forever until we finally reached a giant door at the end of it. All sorts of ancient engravings on it with different looking species and even some resembling humans.
This door was definitely containing something huge behind it but I couldn’t imagine what it could be.
"Are we going to go in there?" Ghost asks with a bit of fear in her voice.
"Yes. I feel the same as you but I can’t just turn back." I respond with a calm tone in my voice.
I’m not actually feeling any fear but I don’t want her to feel like she’s the only one scared here. Or would it have been better to just show her that I’m not scared?
Everything is kind of overwhelming me right now so it’s hard to really think about these decisions.
The door begins to creek as I push it open until finally I can see yet another big room before us. Surprisingly there was no giant monster in the middle of the room whatsoever.
To my surprise I could see someone in the distance, they were chained up. Could they be the one that’s giving off this terrifying aura?
I didn’t expect to see someone just chained here so something is definitely up with the room and the person ahead. I can’t quite make out their appearance much from where we are standing so I’d have to get closer.
"Do we get closer or stay back? I don’t really know if that person is safe or if they are secretly hiding a monster inside as well." Ghost questions with a bit of confusion.
I feel the same way as her though, what is the best decision to make in this situation? We could get closer and risk the possibility of encountering a life threatening monster, or take the chance and it be something that’s perfectly fine.
Maybe they were chained up and forgotten about but they’d be dead right? There’s really not much of an explanation on how someone could survive here if they are human.
Then again, dungeons function a lot differently than the world outside.
