Chapter 185: Ghost and Her Memories (3)
CHAPTER 185: GHOST AND HER MEMORIES (3)
"let’s check it out. I’d at least like to confirm if it really is the wraith that we’ve heard about or not." Rena said with a bit of excitement.
"We just have to be careful. I don’t want to risk either of us dying because of a misunderstanding." I replied with a worried tone.
"It’ll be perfectly fine, I promise." Rena assured me.
I took her word and we made our way up to the rooftops once again to find a way to spot this swordsman. It didn’t take very long for us to find the perfect rooftop.
It was tall enough for us to see the swordsman making light work of a few unknown gang members. Why he was hunting them was a complete mystery to me.
Bang!!! Bang!!!! Single shots started going off before rifles started up as well. They were definitely determined to kill this person no matter what.
I tried to watch what was going on but all I could see was this purple dust following behind each swing. He was also disappearing perfectly without any bullets hitting him.
The myth wasn’t just a myth after all. The wraith truly does exist, he wasn’t made up in the slightest. We have a few pictures of what he supposedly looked like but today confirmed it all.
"Command we have sight on the Wraith, what should we do?" Rena asked over the comm.
"Don’t engage. They aren’t considered a threat to the government at this time, focus on observing for the time being." Command responded over the comm.
"Sounds like we’ll be sitting on our ass for awhile." I chimed in while leaning against the wall.
I leaned my rifle up against the wall next to me as I watched the guy in the distance. He was killing them with ease, nobody was stopping him in the slightest.
(Ghost suddenly stops talking about her past. Year 2108. Current year. Rokuro’s View.)
Ghost really has been around a lot longer than I expected but it isn’t a bad thing. She told me quite a bit about her past and I’m kind of glad she did.
Lilly also seems to be quite shocked by everything Ghost told us about her past so far. Actually, everyone seems to be surprised by her story but I guess that’s only natural.
Akina didn’t seem to be paying much attention for whatever reason. Everyone else was invested in her story since we haven’t been told much about her past.
"I appreciate you sharing all that, I’ll look forward to hearing more about your past later on." I say with an appreciative tone.
"Yeah, of course. The rest kind of just disappeared all of a sudden. I thought for sure that my memory core was completely fried but I guess not. Just takes some time for it to come back." Ghost replies with a kind tone.
Ghost also used to be a lot more of a serious person by the way she described everything, including her thoughts. It is definitely interesting to hear about how someone else thinks.
Cyborg experimental units aren’t that surprising to hear about since they started to use them against the monsters when the collapse first happened.
They were starting off pretty strong against the monsters but eventually they were overwhelmed. That’s when guilds slowly began to form and people who awakened started to make a difference.
Awakenings really are something different altogether but I can’t believe mana was already present in the first place.
I was never capable of using it so I guess that’s why it didn’t really matter anyway.
Mana has definitely been around in your world for quite some time, I’m shocked. I didn’t think this world had it before the collapse occurred.
I didn’t either but I guess I was quite young when everything happened. My family also didn’t really go into the cities that relied on it much.
Caelmaris is a prime example of a city that I could’ve learned that from but I never did. We never really had the chance to do that since Minami wasn’t able to afford it.
There was also too much going on for her to take me out anywhere else.
Couldn’t your parents take you before they passed? Maybe when you were little or something?
I wish we could’ve gone as a family but that never really happened. They passed before we could even look into the idea itself.
Caelmaris is still quite a place to see, I’m always amazed when I go there. But I guess everything is slowly starting to feel normal again after being back for awhile.
My old self is coming back, not that the ruthless side is gone.
It’ll never be gone when it comes to dealing with your enemies. It’ll just be gone when you’re around the girls with no real threats to worry about.
I think that you’ll need to be ruthless in certain situations anyway, especially if you’re going to the demon realms.
You’re definitely right about that. The demon realms will probably be quite brutal since they are technically run by a monarch. They probably enforced the way they want everything run.
Making the demons follow the path the monarch... Ensuring that they hate humans. It makes sense that I’ll need to be ruthless when I get there.
"Fights await us. Ghost’s memories reminded me of how the demon realms are." Lilly speaks up with a serious tone.
"I expected as much. I’ve heard about what they’ve been doing with the demon realms, shaping them to hate humans. I’m not surprised." I respond with a calm tone.
"Exactly why I want to tag along even more." Velia chimes in with a sinister smile on her face.
Her smile when it comes to killing monsters is definitely something... I never really know how to feel about it. Demons aren’t necessarily monsters, right?
It definitely falls along a strange line, that’s for sure.
"I think we have a decent idea of who’s coming and who’s staying." I say while scratching my head.
