CHAPTER 19: CAELMARIS

"I definitely second that." Lilly agrees with me while looking at the walls.

We didn’t hesitate to move past the gates into the city itself, no guards stopped us since it was daytime. With a place this protected we couldn’t do anything once inside anyway.

This city is definitely a lot more protected than Ashvalis and it definitely has a completely different atmosphere than I expected.

People seem to be wearing well tailored clothing, none were begging or rushing around with hopes of trading, and some even held a proud look in their eyes.

The buildings here also seem to be a bit more polished with some sort of runes on a few of them, a giant spire in the middle of the city, and even a few small towers on each side of it.

"I can already see a major difference here..." Ghost says nervously.

"It’s fine, let’s look for the guild here." I suggest.

I’m trying not to let myself feel overwhelmed by this city so it’s best to make our way for the guild here. If I want to make my way up to Elyndra I’ll have to get a pretty high rank as a hunter.

With the silvite needed to get up there it would be better off doing it the easy way, killing monsters. But they only let the best of the best up there to begin with, so I’ll really have to work hard.

"You plan to register as a hunter now, don’t you?" Lilly questions, a small smirk on her face.

"Yeah I do. It’ll be the best way to get up to Elyndra." I answer.

Elyndra.

That damn city is full of rich assholes and people who think they are above everyone below. All because they can hide up in that city where monsters barely even appear.

It must be nice to avoid the struggles of the new world with such a big advantage up in the skies.

"Elyndra. You could get up there once you awaken that power of yours more. Haha." Lilly says with a chuckle.

Scales. Scales. Lilly did say I could become a dragon at some point right? An SSS ranking one at that so that is also a possibility for me to get up there.

Doesn’t that mean I’d grow wings? Would I even be able to revert back after using such a form or would that all be a permanent change.

"Let’s keep that talk quiet for now. I don’t know how to hide it yet." I respond with a calm, yet stern tone.

Keeping calm with everything going on lately is tough but it’s needed if I want to keep everyone safe. There are way too many hunters here for us to handle if they assume I’m some sort of monster.

"We should continue looking for the guild." Ghost suggests while continuing to walk.

"Right." I agree.

We continue making our way through the streets of Caelmaris while taking in everything around us. This city felt a lot more lively than Ashvalis did by a long shot.

Merchants were posted up along the streets with a better looking shop with rare looking items on display, better equipment, and even seem to be well dressed as well.

A fountain or two were within the main street as well which was definitely interesting to see. People didn’t seem to be rushing around at all, even the ones who weren’t hunters here.

"Isn’t that interesting." Lilly points towards some carriages riding through the air.

Carriages powered by wind magic, something I’d never seen before. There’s probably a lot of different things I’ve never seen since the beginning of the collapse.

"It definitely is." I say, a bit taken back by it.

There were even some floating platforms above us with people talking as if it was completely normal. People really have come to adjust to the new world and it’s magic that’s been given to us.

I wonder what Minami would’ve thought if she got to see such a place, she probably would’ve been ecstatic. My sister always loved reading those fantasy books and even from time to time, sci Fi.

It’s pretty awesome to see sis.

We continue on while taking in the scenery a bit more with each step until finally we reach the guild building. It was nothing like the Velgrade guild building.

Silverstone walls with a strange curve going upward, as if wind itself had shaped the whole building. An Intricate golden trim went throughout the walls as well, almost to show that they aren’t some low class guild by any means.

The entrance to go up was even baffling as it has floating steps that went all the way up to the door, this was truly a complete difference from Ashvalis in every way.

Some parts of the trim that were lining the stairs seem to glow, almost as if it was enchanted in some way.

"Up we go I suppose." I say while taking everything in.

I should’ve expected it to be like this since the rumors spoke about how much better this city was to begin with. It kind of makes me wonder if I’ll even be able to regist with this guild based on everything I’ve seen since entering the city.

After a few moments of walking up the stairs we made it into the guild hall which was even more stunning than the outside view. High vaulted ceilings that stretched so far up that it felt like the space in here was infinite.

Crystal chandeliers hung about the hall with a soft blue light radiating from them, a dark obsidian like floor filled the room and everything felt clean.

They had banners hung throughout the hall with different categories etched into them. "Major Dungeon Clears", "Fallen Aetherion Elites", and any "Legendary Monsters Slain".

This guild definitely knows how to make someone’s jaw drop more times than I can count. Even the way they track everything here is insane to see, it’s a lot neater than how Velgrade had it.

I didn’t think people would use magic for such a thing either but an Arcane bulletin board with everything tracked is insane.
