CHAPTER 40: FLOOR [8]NOTHING BUT BLOOD (1)

Getting through the field wasn’t hard by any means, it actually was just a peaceful walk through there until we reached the door.

It didn’t take long to catch onto the easiness of the floors, especially since the hardest floor so far was the first one. Having to fight back mentally was the only challenge I discovered out of the floors we went through.

Floor 3 was some strange swampy environment with nothing to it other than some occasional splashing around. I never saw anything come out from the water itself though.

Veria didn’t really talk as much either as we traversed the floors together, maybe it was for a good reason. Not that I’d understand the need for it.

Floors 4 and 5 didn’t seem to have any big issues with them either... Just a bunch of different paths and maybe a puzzle or two to deal with. This was making me feel like the tower wasn’t as insane as I thought it was.

Until floor 6. Floor 6 was when I actually started to notice hostile creatures were present on the floor. We only fought against some low ranking ones though, a couple of skeletons.

I wanted to understand how the process works with designing these floors... Especially if I’m the god who comes up with the idea of such a tower for beings to climb up.

I’ll probably never be able to understand the process, even if I did know how it worked. There’s some things that humans will never be able to comprehend and I’m positive that this is one of those things.

"Onto the next floor." Veria says while leading the way.

[7] Army of Ghouls.

The landscape was barren, riddled with bones and old weapons from those who previously attempted to go through here. This was a completely different feeling from all the other floors and actually gave me about of concern.

"Ghouls. We will need to be fast." Veria says while gripping her sword.

"How many will there be?" I ask while keeping a calm tone.

Disturbing screeching was all I could hear in the distance, like nails on a chalk board over and over again. "An army." She answers without wasting a second.

An army of these ghouls is definitely going to require me to use a bit more of my power than before. The speed alone is enough justification to have to use my power against them.

Plus I don’t know how hard it’ll be to dodge them just yet so I don’t want to take any chances against these monsters.

Finally coming into sight were these disgusting creatures. Extended arms and legs on such a small body with a pale like complexion throughout their entire body, no eyes whatsoever, and hands with knife like edges to them.

They also seem to have pretty big mouths with teeth extending our from them.

"Some ugly ass creatures aren’t they." I say with a bit of disgust in my voice.

"All the monsters are hideous in my opinion." Veria replies almost in agreement with me.

Don’t go overboard with it, we have a lot ahead of us.

I don’t intend to. I’ll only use what I need to in this fight no matter what, plus I have Veria here to help as well.

My blood always feels like it’s boiling anymore but it always intensifies more when I’m using my power. I felt the speed pick up in my steps as I began to run towards them.

Veria was running besides me with a bit less speed then me, yet the one thing that caught my gaze was the expression once again. That crazed smile she had from the night we fought against the Lurkers.

The thrill of the hunt against such creatures is something she seems to enjoy very much.

"SCHREEE!" A ghoul begins to scream as I find myself face to face with it.

I didn’t hesitate and threw a punch instantly, sending it back into some of the other ghouls while listening to the sound of Veria’s sword. The slashing wasn’t quiet by any means, even with all the screams the ghouls let out... her blade was singing.

Step. It didn’t take much for me to dodge their attacks as time has slowed down for me once again. Except I can’t really say that it’s time but they are just that slow.

My heart always seems to echo loudly in times like this as I never did get use to fighting monsters yet. The fear still runs throughout my body, even after all the ones I’ve fought so far.

CRACK! POW! My fist slams into one of their heads while another attack hits one in the stomach, sending it up into the air. I took the opportunity to slam my fist into its chest as it started to descend back to the floor.

It went flying into some of the other ghouls that were still in the back line.

We’ve killed a bunch of them already but I don’t know how many actually remain for us to kill. This feels like it’ll be endless at this point.

I also have to watch how much I use my power since I don’t want to blackout in a place like the tower. Veria doesn’t know me well enough to do half the stuff ghost did for me.

I’m lucky ghost even did any of that either but I guess it’s almost like getting even for me bringing her back.

"Rokuro I’m tired of this already, come on." Veria says while passing me.

I watched as she quickly eliminated ghoul after ghoul in a matter of seconds while their bodies hit the floor. Of course it would be wrong of me to just sit here watching so I charged in as well.

1, 2, 5, 8, 12, 20. The numbers of Ghouls finally dropped down to 0. Purple blood covered the ground, as well as the bodies of the ghouls. Our battle was over on this floor.

"Hehe. No time to waste." Veria says after chuckling.

That was new, I haven’t heard much change in her until now. This must really be exciting for her to do so I guess she is a lot like Lilly in that sense.

The door to the next floor was a lot different from all the other ones, it was covered in what appeared to be blood.
