CHAPTER 41: FLOOR [8]NOTHING BUT BLOOD (2)

We went through the door regardless of it being covered in blood, pushing past onto the next floor. It was one of the most disturbing floors to step foot on.

A fleshy like floor expanded all throughout the area with different veins and tendrils all over the place. Some parts of the flesh seems to pulse which was even weirder to see.

"A fun floor. Especially with what we’re seeing." Veria says while observing everything.

I couldn’t help but stare at the grotesque environment around us. "Do you know what to expect here?" I ask with a serious, yet calm tone.

This would freak anybody out so it’s not like I’m crazy but keeping calm is how I’ve stayed alive up until this point. Panic will just cause irrational decisions and then the outcome won’t be so great.

"Not a single clue. The tower isn’t the same after the first couple of floors." Veria answers,

I noticed her gripping her sword a bit tighter so she’s probably on edge with this floor just like me. Blood also seems to be running like a river towards the left side of the floor.

There wasn’t anything obvious about the floor that stood out, other than the strange environment itself being the biggest thing about it.

"Someone is here, look." Veria says while pointing her sword straight ahead.

Ahead of us stood a man in all black, wearing some sort of trench coat, holding a gun in his hand, a silver mask with the resemblance of a skull, and he is definitely tall. Just kind of hard not to notice that about him.

He took a few steps towards us while still keeping the gun by his side. "Welcome friends. It’ll be a pleasure to kill you, a fine add to my collection here it will be." The man says nonchalantly.

Is this guy also a human? I can’t tell with how he’s speaking or by how he’s dressed but if so, I’ll be in for a hell of a time. That bloodlust isn’t going to be fun to deal with after we handle him.

Unless.... I let Veria get the killing blow on him.

"Annoying." Veria says bluntly with an irritated look on her face.

BANG! The sound of the gun firing was all that I could hear echoing throughout the chamber but I was already moving. Veria shoved me out of the way and was already running towards the man.

I watch as the bullet flies past me, a purple like energy seems to engulf it as well. Possibly imbued with some sort of power or magic, no wonder she pushed me away from the shot.

No time to waste. Veria will need your help against him.

I was getting there Rika, I just needed to analyze what just happened and now I understand a bit better. I at least understand that the gun is a lot faster than a normal one and his bullets are special.

My thoughts were interrupted as multiple shots began to go off, but they seem to be met with the clashing of Veria’s blade. I could hear it deflecting off of her blade or maybe she was slicing through the bullets?

I turn to see what I’m missing and all that’s noticeable is the insane amount of speed she’s using against him. He also seems to be keeping up with her quite easily, maybe this will be a challenge.

Using just a little bit of power might not be enough to stop someone like this if he can keep up so easily. The only problem is that I don’t know how to fully utilize my power just yet.

Just fighting with such little power won’t be smart, how can I do this?

Did you forget that it was your emotions that helped trigger it before?

Back in the dungeon I was about to watch Ghost get hurt... That was the first time that everything awakened within me so I just need to channel that anger. I was so upset with my inability to do anything in this world and didn’t want to be useless anymore.

Ba-thump. I felt as if everything was burning inside me, my veins felt as if they were being engulfed by flames. Nothing about this power is pleasant but it’s just something that I have to get used to.

My heart never quiets down during this either, always drowning out the sound around me as if I need to hear it.

Rokuro you need to focus more. Veria needs you in this fight, you can do it.

I don’t want someone to die for me or at all so I’ll have to make this work no matter what. Getting stronger means that I can focus on what’s important and use the power to the best of my abilities.

I clench my fist and use my foot to push myself off the ground, sending myself flying through the air towards the man. The ground had broken beneath my foot as I pushed off of it.

Winding my fist back I was prepared to put some power into this attack, hoping to bring this to an end as quickly as possible. POW! My fist connected with the man but it wasn’t as impactful as I expected... He was still standing there, he blocked it with ease.

His arm was up and holding back my fist, a shockwave went throughout the area from my attack so it wasn’t weak by any means.

"So you both have decided to play, I do enjoy this very much. It’s never fun if the prey just hide." He says with a bit of excitement in his voice.

The sad part is that there are a lot of people out there just like him. Those who actually enjoy the fight before killing the people they hunt.

SLASH! He manages to dodge just in time as Veria misses her attack but he didn’t move very far.

"We can do it, it’ll just be a bit difficult." Veria says with a bit of confidence.

"You’re right." I agree with her as I stare at the man before us.
