CHAPTER 42: PUSHING LIMITS

I’ll have to start taking this a bit further if I want to make more of an impact against this guy. Can I even do that? I barely know how to control my power the way it is...

Veria charges in once again as the man begins firing off his pistol, except I instinctively manage to dodge as he fires towards me as well.

It wasn’t the time for me to zone out, not in a place like this against an enemy with this kind of strength. I pushed myself off the ground and made it to him in a matter of moments.

Preparing to hit him with as much power as I could as Veria continues to slash at him with her sword. The two of us were bound to get a hit in one way or another.

Think of all the names people called you, how they treated you.

Is it really okay for me to push the limits of this power to such an extent? To let my rage out against this man before me...

Bloodlust is also the other issue at hand if this guy is human, that will just make this even harder to manage.

"Talentless trash." A woman says with disgust.

"Useless nobody." Random men say altogether.

"I’ve seen junkers with a shit talent do more than him." Someone says while walking past.

Maybe I was useless, maybe I was a nobody who couldn’t do shit back then. But the difference is that I’m not that person anymore. I’m not trash from the side of the road, I am a lot better than that.

Pathetic people picking on those who got unlucky from the beginning, I’ll show you how wrong you are.

I felt myself gritting my teeth as everything around me feels like it slows down even more. This guy is probably just like everyone else, looking down on me like I’m some piece of shit on the sidewalk.

Every feeling going throughout my body feels as if it intensifies. My vision was definitely messing up like crazy but it won’t change the outcome.

I begin to raise my other fist as I start to attack with both fists, not giving him any chance to block anymore. Veria would get hits in on him or I would... Either way this wasn’t going to end in his favor anymore.

Every thought that I felt like I could have was slowly disappearing with each moment that passed during this fight. I’m unsure if it’s the power or if it’s adrenaline going into overdrive.

I’m willing to wager that it’s the power that’s consuming everything.

SLASH! SLICE!! I noticed Veria’s blade cutting right through him finally after he started focusing on me more. The pressure from my attacks was probably too much for him to handle at once.

He shifts his focus back and forth on us. "Truly astonishing how much power is hiding within you. Definitely exceeds my expectations." He says while ignoring the wounds being inflicted on him.

I let his words go in one ear and out the other as blood begins to spurt out from his chest and a bit from his stomach. He still doesn’t seem to be letting up on his defense, even while taking damage from Veria.

He refused to let me do any real damage to him. His gun was basically useless at this point since there was no opportunity for him to fire it anymore.

This was proving to be more and more of a deadly battle for him.

Imbue your next attack with flames. Focus on what you want to do and you can make it happen.

I could picture the flames around my fist, something that I didn’t believe would actually work at first. Flicker. Burst! Flames suddenly erupted from my right hand as I began to swing it towards him.

As it connects with his arm it sends fire up his sleeves and onto the rest of his body. "Aaahhhhhh!" He begins to scream with panic quickly taking over his voice.

Veria also is still keeping up her attacks while he’s on fire, hitting him with less and less resistance. Blood just continues to paint the floor as he stumbles back each time.

Splatter!!

I couldn’t imagine such a cruel fate being done to me but some people deserve it, like this asshole. He probably killed lots of innocent people in his lifetime so it only makes sense for him to die from this.

"Finish him Rokuro!" Veria shouts as she takes a step back.

I feel my body move on its own as my fist reaches his face in an instant, tearing his head right off of his body. Thud. Thud. His head hit the ground after flying through the air for a little while, even rolling a bit after landing.

It didn’t take long for his body to fall back onto the ground either. The flames still seem to be burning it too so I doubt he’ll be able to do anything special.

"Seems like he is definitely dead. I don’t see any chance of him getting up." Veria says confidently while staring at his body.

Ba-thump. Ba-thump. The red haze was back once again, but this time it felt as if it was amplified by 100x the amount from last time. I fell to my knees and tried to forcefully calm myself down like before.

Kill. Kill. Kill. Isn’t she another human? Why don’t we just end her suffering already as well!

Rika this isn’t you and this sure as hell isn’t me so we need to get this under control. This time around it felt painful to breathe to so I don’t think it’ll be good.

Veria kneels down in front of me and holds her sword with both hands. "I hope we won’t have to fight but you definitely look a lot different right now. Those eyes of yours are also quite bright all of a sudden." Veria says with a serious expression on her face.
