From a Talentless nobody to An SSS Class Dragon
Chapter 43: Bloodlust
CHAPTER 43: BLOODLUST
I don’t want to fight Veria either but with the way my body is reacting it feels like it’ll be inevitable. How can I force this down any further than this?
Rika is also losing control of her ability to reason and she’s one of the biggest factors of my power so it would be pointless if I can’t calm her down. We’ve got to get through this together somehow without killing anyone else.
I slam my fist into the ground, breaking parts of the fleshy floor around it. Blood seems to leak from where I broke it but I can’t control this.
"J...Just get some distance for a minute before we leave here." I struggle to say while holding back the urge to kill.
Why did I have to have such a powerful side effect with this damn power...? It only comes from killing another human being so that bastard was human.
That’s definitely quite unlucky for me to have encountered a human in a place like this but I guess even the tower has humans within.
Veria doesn’t move a muscle as she stays kneeled down before me, just staring blankly at me. "Huh, did you say something?" She says with a confused expression on her face.
She sounded like she was serious a few seconds ago with the whole fight thing so what happened? Did she just completely ignore me all of a sudden?!?
She pulls something out from a bag that I didn’t even notice she had. It took me a second but then I realized it was a small mirror that she pulled out.
"I don’t know if it’ll actually help but here ya go." Veria says with her usual tone while holding the mirror up in front of me.
My eyes really were a brighter red than usual, scales were up my neck a bit, and it didn’t take me long to realize that my hands had taken on a claw like form. This power was changing my very being with the more I used it.
I’m slowly starting not to recognize who the person in the reflection is anymore, especially since the last time I saw myself. Ba-thump. Ba-thump. My heartbeat was still loud as hell but it finally started to sound like it was calming down.
This bloodlust was dying down at last... The red haze around my vision started to disappear as Veria moves the mirror away. "Controlling that power is going to be tough, that’s exactly why the tower is good for you." Veria says confidently.
Drip. Drip. I looked down to see blood was dripping from me but I didn’t really know where it was coming from. Until Veria wiped my nose with a cloth that was in her hand.
"This quiet side is annoying, also clean yourself up already." Veria continues on after handing the cloth to me.
"Sorry I’m just calming down still." I respond while taking the cloth from her.
She stands back up and sheathes her sword before giving me a small smile. "Just don’t ever let it overtake you." Veria speaks with a bit of concern.
So she does have other emotions after all, I’m actually quite surprised by this. I thought she might’ve been some kill hungry demon hiding within this girl’s body.
Then again I guess I could also be considered some sort of monster with this bloodlust that plagues me if I kill another human.
Kekekeke. I feel so much better. Pervy Rokuro seems to be doing okay now too.
Yes I’m doing alright for now but we really have to find a way to avoid this bloodlust problem of ours. I don’t want to accidentally kill one of my friends or even one of the hunters in the city.
I already look like a monster the way it is so I’d prefer not to actually become one.
"Rokuro are you listening? Don’t let it overtake you idiot." Veria says while looking up at me while hunched over.
I forgot I’m taller than her by a good bit so it makes sense that she’d have to look up at me.
I wipe my face and nose quickly before looking back at her. "I’m listening, I won’t let it overtake me ever." I assure her.
I’ll always do my best to combat the urge to kill when it’s active... Even if it feels like it’s impossible sometimes. But on a different note, we cleared the floor at least.
It’s probably best to keep moving forward since I don’t want to see if something else approaches somehow. I’d rather get the hell out of here while it’s nice and peaceful.
This floor is quite creepy the way it is anyway... With all this weird flesh everywhere.
"Time to go. I’ll trust that you can handle it for now stupid Rokuro." Veria responds before leading the way to the next door.
I follow behind her as we reach the next door, it’s not anywhere near the same as the one we went through to get here. It was actually an all white door with strange symbols engraved throughout it.
Some almost seem to resemble angels in a way which was definitely odd to see on a door like this. Nonetheless there was no reason for us to waste time so we went through the door.
[9] Where the Angels Sing.
A harmonious choir seems to sing as we enter the floor. The environment resembled that of clouds in the sky but it was actually possible to walk on them, a very strange place.
"I’m not sure what to expect in here either in all honesty." Veria says while scratching her head.
I’d be at a lost too after coming out of a floor made out of flesh and sinue everywhere. The man that we fought there didn’t seem to match the floor though which is something I thought about.
Shouldn’t we have fought some strange abomination that resembled the theme of the floor?
"It’s definitely nice in here. I just don’t know how to feel about the choir singing around us here." I speak with a bit of confusion in my voice.
