CHAPTER 45: [10] A LEGENDARY DEMON AWAITS.

[10] A Legendary Demon awaits.

As we walk through the doors I can see a hellish landscape before us with fire tornadoes going throughout the land. The ground has a blood red appearance, destroyed houses surround the path, they look like they come from medieval times, and someone sitting on a throne in the distance.

He wasn’t that far away from us either, I could make out a lot of what he was wearing from here. A dark trench coat with all sorts of silver lining the coat itself, dark red eyes peering at me from the throne, a big sword on the right side of him, and somewhat short white hair with a bit of a spiky edge towards the front.

"It seems that the demon is well aware of our presence Roku." Veria says while gripping her sword.

"I can definitely see that. He hasn’t gone for his weapon at all yet, which is kind of odd." I respond while staring at the demon.

He continues to watch us as we approach him, it doesn’t take very long for us to reach the throne. Meanwhile the sword remains at his side as he just slowly looks towards Veria.

A smug look forms on his face, almost like he was prepared for this. "Two lucky beings get to meet me here, how lovely is that. Why don’t we have ourselves a nice chat before we decide what happens next." He suggests playfully as he stands up.

A demon like this wants to chat before any sort of combat can happen? I definitely think that it’s kind of weird for him to be taking such an approach.

"Since when do demons want to talk so casually like this?" Veria questions while her deadly gaze sits on the demon.

"I’m not like the others, violence isn’t always the answer. Though I won’t object if that’s the only option you want." He responds with a smirk on his face.

I couldn’t really find the right words to respond myself but it didn’t matter since a table and some chairs form in front of us. "Take a seat, let us talk for a little while." He suggests before sitting down himself.

If we can avoid a fight against him that wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world... Especially after all the fighting we just got done doing.

Veria and I both take a seat as we look across the table at one another, she was clearly not happy to be dealing with him. I did notice that she had quite the look in her eyes when we first met, mostly because of Lilly.

I’m starting to wonder if demons caused some sort of problem in her life or maybe they took people she cared about. Those are all possibilities with how she’s staring at the demon.

Personally I don’t want to fight because of what could happen with pushing my limits too much. I only know of one possible side effect right now when there could be multiple.

Rika hasn’t really been the most informative in that department lately so I’ve had to figure it out myself. It’s a real pain to try to figure out what’s okay to do and what’s not okay to do.

The demon shifts his gaze towards me. "You may call me Lazarus. Most don’t ever get the pleasure of talking with me but you both seem rather strong so I’ll endulge." He says with a bit of amusement in his voice.

"What exactly will this chat help with?" I ask while keeping a calm and relaxed demeanor.

A smirk grew wide on his face as he ponders for a moment. He definitely had some sort of weird reason to have this conversation with us.

He crosses his arms before speaking. "Understanding if you can pass onto the next floor without having to fight. I can be quite a reasonable man, especially with beings who can respect strength like mine." Lazarus answers with a bit of a cocky attitude.

He gives me a feeling like we’re going to have to admit that we can’t beat him or something. I’ll never say such a stupid thing to an enemy though, what kind of weak mindset is that?

I don’t think I’d ever be able to ask someone to do that if the roles were reversed either since I’m not a scumbag. The world is full of different types of people though so I guess you can’t expect everyone to be like me.

"So you want us to admit that we don’t stand a chance or something like that, right?" Veria questions while beginning to grit her teeth.

"Precisely." He answers without any hesitation.

SLAM! My fist hits the table the instant I hear his response. "We aren’t going to admit such a thing asshole." I say with a pissed off tone.

I’ve had to deal with people looking down on me for the longest time, I’m not going to tolerate that ever again. This power decided to awaken within me after so many rough years... So I won’t let something like this happen.

"Hahaha. Have it your way I suppose." He laughs as he stands up.

He picks up the sword and I watch as the table disappears, the fight was about to begin. Both of us were already standing, ready to fight against this piece of shit.

I could feel something more intense building up from within me... It wasn’t like the previous feelings I’ve had and honestly it kind of terrified me.

The rage I’ve been waiting to see is finally here. I wondered how long it would take for you to actually show me it.

There was no distorted vision, no loud heartbeat anymore, just the sound of my breathing as I stared at Lazarus. My fists were already clenched and all I wanted to do was put this asshole in his place.

"No need for anymore waiting since you’ve given your answers. Let us begin." Lazarus says with excitement.
