From a Talentless nobody to An SSS Class Dragon
Chapter 48: The Last of My Strength
CHAPTER 48: THE LAST OF MY STRENGTH
Fwooosh! I used the last of my speed to get as close as possible and I swung my fist towards Lazarus once again, but this time I made sure that I put every ounce of strength I had left into this attack. This needed to be enough to end him or else we really would be screwed here.
I felt my fist connect with his back as I see a huge burst of my power go through him and past Velia. SWOOSH! The shockwave was pretty powerful... But it wasn’t the only thing that caught my attention.
A huge hole was there within Lazarus’s body as I stood there for a moment, baffled by the amount of damage I managed to inflict.
Blood began to pour out like a waterfall as he stood there with no words left to say... Make me wonder if it would’ve been possible for him to speak like that anyway.
"I’m so glad you’re not dead." Velia says with a bit of relief in her voice.
I don’t get to speak before she suddenly cuts through Lazarus’s neck, causing even more blood to splurt out before he collapses onto the floor. Thud!!
"I might be a bit lucky..." I manage to respond with a bit of weakness in my voice.
The only difference with that last attack was that I didn’t separate any of the power and put it all into one side. Leaving my left hand without any real strength but it turned out to be a pretty good gamble.
He wasn’t expecting me to get back up after the amount of damage he did with his sword. I just happen to have the right people on my side apparently so it worked out in my favor this time around.
Seraphine is definitely quite the woman.
"I’ll say. We should rest before continuing to the next floor." Velia suggests while sheathing her sword.
She didn’t look so emotionless right now which was a big deal since she usually feels lifeless to me. Almost as if Velia is just some sort of doll.
Thud. I hit the ground as everything starts to slowly disappear around me once again. That was definitely the last of my strength.... I should’ve seen that coming but I wasn’t focused on it.
Luckily blacking out here won’t be the end of the world. We really do need to work on this whole passing out thing though.
I completely agree, it’s a pain in the ass when I use too much power and collapse out of nowhere. Maybe it would be better to say that my body needs to adjust to the power already so that I can do more.
I’m already making a sacrifice with how I look until that’s a possibility anyway so the least that could be done is longer use.
"Rokuro. Rokuro." Velia’s voice echoes distantly as I lay on the ground.
The damage I took will heal over time I’m sure, but what will happen with how I look? Can this even be reversed or will I be stuck looking more and more like a dragon.
My control of this power isn’t even where it should be yet. We’re only on the tenth floor so I definitely got some time to get control over my power.
I open my eyes to find myself within that same white space from before but this time Rika is here with me. She’s standing a few feet away but at least she’s here.
She turns around to face me. "One day you won’t have my advice you know." Rika says while slowly approaching.
"Why wouldn’t I have your advice?" I question with a bit of confusion.
Rika makes it to me and looks me up and down. "Eventually you’ll be strong enough that I won’t be needed anymore." Rika responds with a bit of sadness in her voice.
I was pretty positive that she was the main source of my power so I don’t understand why she would disappear one day. There’s a lot of questions that I’m stuck with right now... I just don’t have any answers.
There isn’t a way to get them just yet so I’ll have to be patient until the time comes.
"I promise I won’t completely disappear... Just there won’t be a need for me to dwell within you anymore." Rika says while tracing her fingers across my face.
"You aren’t making any sense. Rika you were just talking about me figuring out this blackout shit so what’s going on?" I ask while slowly losing my patience.
Something about this is really starting to annoy me and she isn’t getting to the point with it at all. In fact, none of this is making any damn sense.
"In terms of your dragon power, I won’t be able to do much more soon. You aren’t a slow learner by any means. It’s just the control you need to master and you’ll be all set." Rika responds while moving her hand away from my face.
Rika is acting a lot different all of a sudden and I’m not sure if I should be annoyed or if I should be concerned. I kind of understand some of what she’s saying but not everything makes sense.
I thought for sure that I’d need her to get even stronger with this power but she’s talking as if she’ll be gone. I guess it’s better to say that I’m worried about what will happen to her when she’s not needed anymore.
Yes I need to master the control of it but maybe she is right... I’m learning how to use it pretty quickly since I was able to transfer the power pretty easily throughout my body.
"Anyway it isn’t a bad thing, it’ll give us something exciting to look towards." Rika continues on with a smile on her face.
"What exactly is so exciting?" I ask with a bit of curiosity.
"The perv Rokuro might actually get to see me in person. Or maybe I’m just lying." Rika teases before she starts to walk away.
