CHAPTER 51: A PEACEFUL FLOOR! THANK GOD.

The day has passed, it was finally time for us to leave this floor after resting and talking for a bit.

I notice Velia staring at me for a moment. "Do I look even weirder?" I ask while trying to be funny about it.

If I take it seriously I’ll start to panic since I don’t have a single clue on how to control my ever changing appearance. That’s what I really need to focus on as I continue to climb the tower.

"Hmm. You have a wing coming out your back now and a bit of scales on the right side of your face." Velia responds while calmly observing me.

"Sigh. I guess it’s getting worse." I say with a bit of disappointment in my voice.

Control. That’s what Rika told me I need to figure out so that has to be the key to everything. Being able to control this power properly means that I’ll be able to conceal all of this better.

She gives a shrug before turning around. "The next floor awaits." Velia speaks with her usual monotone like voice.

I didn’t say anything and followed behind her till we reached the door. This door was a bright white door with nothing special about it otherwise.

We went through the door without any sort of fear since we didn’t really have much to lose at this point. At least thats how I felt about the whole situation.

Getting to the top of the tower felt like the most important mission right now.

[11] Peace and Quiet.

The floor seemed to be a lot like the lobby ish area that we entered in the beginning of the tower. I couldn’t really see anybody around or any sort of desk for a receptionist to be behind like before.

"This is a bit different." Velia says while looking around.

At first I didn’t quite understand what she saw that was so different since it looked about the same to me. But I think I can kind of understand what she’s talking about all of a sudden.

Short bursts of blue go throughout the walls as I observe it a bit more. Short bursts of electricity are going throughout the walls in here which is definitely odd.

It was almost identical to the lobby we came through besides this one difference. Why would electricity be going throughout the walls in here?

"I see what you mean and it’s honestly kind of strange." I speak with a bit of confusion in my voice.

I’ve got no real understanding on how the tower works just yet so it’s pretty hard for me to fully understand it. Each floor is different so I guess this could be considered normal in a way.

The floors all seem to have a different theme to them and it usually gives a good indicator on what to expect. A floor engulfed by fire usually means that we’ll be dealing with hellish type enemies while a swamp floor means more of a poison enemy.

At least that’s what I’ve gathered from the first 10 floors but maybe I’m completely wrong.

Velia takes a couple of steps ahead of me before looking back towards me. "Odd. It’s peaceful here but there’s so many differences." Velia says while looking past me.

There’s more than one? I was pretty confident that only one major difference was in this room. Does it even matter since we aren’t fighting anyone in here anyway?

I don’t think it’s a big deal in all honesty. If it was a problem then we would’ve been confronted by the enemy already.

Velia continues to observe as I walk past her, taking notice of the person standing in the distance. They are wearing very similar clothes to the guy from the lobby as well.

That mask is the same too, why do so many of the beings have a mask on in this tower? Something I’ve come to realize as we’ve scaled the floors, besides Lazarus.

They began to walk towards me as I got closer until we were finally face to face. "Congratulations on making it past the 10th floor. Seems you are quite strong." He says with a bit of a muffled voice.

That damn mask can be a pain in the ass but at least I can understand him for the most part. Do they congratulate us each time we make it past the boss floor?

"Is this normal?" I ask with a bit of curiosity.

His red eyes glare at me through the mask. "Yes. No need to think about it, just focus on progressing through the tower Rokuro." He responds with a calm, yet sinister tone.

He’s definitely giving off some strange vibes that I don’t like at all. This guy knows my name which is probably normal since the tower seems to have all sorts of powerful beings.

Or did we give him our names? I don’t remember doing such a thing in the first place so that couldn’t be it.

Tap. Tap. I turn to see Velia is tapping on my shoulder. "This guy seems weirder than the first one we met." Velia whispers while keeping an eye on the man.

"I thought the same, what do we do?" I ask her while keeping my voice low as well.

Attacking a being like this would probably be fatal with the kind of injuries we both have, yet I don’t trust him in the slightest. Nothing about this tower is the most trustworthy either so it’s not necessarily wrong to feel this way.

I scratch my head while staring at the strange mask he wears. "Is there anything you could tell us?" I ask while keeping a calm tone.

"A tower guide will be here shortly to assist with some information before going forward." He answers without any hesitation before turning around.

I watched as he walks away, slowly fading into the distance. The moment he hit the wall he disappeared.

"Tower Guide?" I say with a bit of confusion.
