CHAPTER 57: CYBORG AND THE RED HAIRED DEVIL (2)

Ghost looks back up towards Lilly as she ponders speaking more for a moment.

"I’ll try to tell you as much as I can I guess." Ghost says while beginning to cross her arms.

(Ghost begins speaking.)

Upon waking up in the middle of a shop that I never knew before I could see that it was nothing normal. Windows were boarded up tightly, doors were secured, and a man I’d never seen before was sitting by a computer.

Resembling a ghost himself, I was surprised when he moved. He checked on me immediately and started running tests as if it was something important.

Most of my body was in pieces besides the upper half, it was quite intense to see for the first time. Regardless he started fixing me up and in no time I could move again.

Rokuro told me about how he was a junker, someone who scavenges through parts and tries to make something of it. I figured he was just going to sell me at first, but that wasn’t what happened.

Most of my functions seemed fixable and he believes that my consciousness was a good sign, not that I had any complaints about it.

"Ghost. You can’t remember anything and you were basically on the cusp of death so you’ll be ghost for the time being." Rokuro speaks with a calm tone.

That name was the first peace of mind I had since waking up 12 years later with no recollection of anything. It gave me a new meaning for the time being until I can fully remember everything, if I can remember everything.

Ghost looks out a window to see the strange deformed monsters walking about the junkyard. Some of which she can her strange whispers coming from them.

It was my first encounter with the whisperspawns and it honestly freaked me out a lot. I didn’t hear the same voices as Rokuro... Well I only heard strange whispers coming from them, nothing specific.

"Did he have the power he does now?" Lilly asks with a bit of curiosity in her voice.

"No, he didn’t seem to have any power or talent as they call it." Ghost responds with certainty.

Rokuro was talentless, something he must’ve heard people say a lot during the time I wasn’t around. I felt bad after he almost died to protect me from them.

I had to drag him all the way back to the shop before patching him up after he killed two of the whisperspawns. He did it with a wrench which surprised me after seeing how strong some of these monsters are.

But I found a book or journal that he seems to write in, not that he does anymore. I haven’t seen him writing in it since we all started traveling together but he used to talk about a girl named Minami.

His sister that died during the beginning of the collapse.

(Ghost doesn’t seem to have much else to say after that.)

"Your past is more like his past for now." Lilly says with a bit of disappointment.

"Not something I can really do anything about right now." Ghost responds with a bit of sadness still in her voice.

Two days have passed since Rokuro and Velia entered the tower.

Ghost and Lilly found a small building that was just barely in decent enough condition for them to stay in. It wasn’t the most cozy place to stay but it was better than staying outside overnight.

Lilly leans against the wall. "I wonder if Rokuro is still alive, it feels like it’s been forever since he entered the damn tower." Lilly speaks up with a bit of an annoyed tone.

"You can’t always be annoyed about it. He’ll be back soon." Ghost responds with confidence.

"He is probably having fun with her or something." Lilly suggests with a jealous tone.

Ghost thinks about what kind of fun she could be referring to since she doesn’t entirely know much about the human emotions anymore. Only knowing a couple of them by interactions.

Sadness, fear, concern, just some of the basic ones.

"I think Velia could be a good addition to our group." Ghost says positively.

Lilly pouts as she stares at Ghost. "She’s awful, I don’t like her." She replies.

"Well I do and so does Rokuro, might as well get use to her being around." Ghost says while laying back against the wall.

Her systems seem to be functioning fine but something felt off and she couldn’t figure out what it was exactly. It was a weird feeling in her chest that she couldn’t shake.

"Whatever, I’ll just go to sleep then." Lilly mutters to herself.

The two of them get some rest as everything begins to fade away, slowly the Tower floor that Rokuro and Velia are on starts to show.

(Rokuro’s View. Back in the Tower.)

[18] Safe Passage.

Luckily we didn’t have that much to worry about after we dealt with the old souls and the dragon. The next two floors seemed to be pretty peaceful for the most part which was good.

I needed a chance to understand what happened with Rika back there. She never did that before and it kind of worries me.

"The Golem is on the next floor! I can’t wait!" Mira says with excitement.

"I bet you can’t." Velia responds with her usual tone.

Mira is definitely quite an interesting person to have with us but I don’t know what happens after this is over. There’s still no guarantee we make it to the top based on everything she told us.

Who cares. We’ll just keep killing and killing and killing.

What’s going on with you all of a sudden Rika? I appreciate that you helped me back against the dragon but usually you motivate me or something instead. Should I be concerned?

I just thought you could use a hand for once, that’s all. I’m fine, just a little hungry.

What do you mean that you’re hungry? Is it because of the bloodlust or am I missing something here?
