CHAPTER 63: HELPING VELIA

I could feel my body starting to calm down a bit as the red haze lightens. It took a moment but I managed to force myself to stand up and start walking towards the direction of the fighting.

The sounds of her blade clashing against another blade and occasionally some loud whooshing told me that one of them could use magic.

One is a magic user while the other probably uses an actual weapon like Velia does.

Welcome back to reality, bloodlust is a real pain in the ass.

You don’t say, I learned quite a bit about it lately. Would be great if it didn’t happen every time I killed another human being but it can’t be helped.

There will always be shitty human beings in this world and every other world out there I’m sure. It’ll never be something that can easily be avoided.

I finally felt my legs getting the strength to run again so I begin running towards the sound of the fight until I can see them.

The girl in the red was firing all sort of different spells towards Velia while the dragon girl rushed her with some sort of dagger.

No wonder it’s hard to fight since the two of them are making it quite impossible to manage with the combination of strength they have.

So the best approach here would be to take out the magic user first so that Velia just has to worry the girl with the dagger. That’ll help with finishing this battle overall since the main boss was already handled.

I don’t know how many more floors we’ll get to go through either since this place is like a ticking time bomb. Theres not a lot of time for us to scale the floors for the reward from that being.

I’ll just have to make quick work of her so no more thinking is needed for this, just doing.

I rush towards the red haired girl and wind my fist back, ready to unleash a devasting attack. The power was definitely surging throughout my body like before again and I could feel it pulsing in my hand.

It was finally starting to feel a bit more natural, almost like breathing but I know this won’t always be the case.

Sometimes it’ll take more than this to control my power and other times it might not be as bad. SLAM!!! FWOOSH! A huge gust of wind bounces off of some sort of invincible field in front of me as my fist connects with it.

A magic bubble? The wind that bounced off was from the force of my punch combined with the power.

"So Artemis couldn’t handle you after all, how annoying." The red haired girl says with a disappointed look across her face.

Crack. Crack. I watched for a second as cracks started forming in front of me across this invisible shield.

She turns her attention towards me as she observes the cracks. "You are definitely strong so I guess it’s not completely annoying." She says while a smile slowly forms on her face.

Fire wall. We need a fire wall now!

How the hell do I make a damn fire wall? I’ve never done that before Rika so you can’t just say that as if I know anything about it.

’Zero Tempest Edge.’ She thinks to herself as a burst of blue begins to rush out.

I stand surprised for a second as I see the wave freezing everything in its path, but this wasn’t the time to be surprised. There’s no way that it would be strong enough to just kill me but I shouldn’t chance it.

Breathe in, breathe out. Focus on the flame and how it forms in my hand and... Flicker.

A burst of flames comes out from my hand and I immediately aim it towards the ground in front of me. Maybe putting more power into the flames will help me with forming the wall.

WHOOOSH-CRRRAK!!! A wall of flames forms in front of me after a few moments of intense concentration. Sizzle!!!!! I can hear the fire fighting back against the freezing cold magic that she shot at me.

It’s definitely having a hard time holding it back but so far it’s managing to do it.

See it didn’t even take you that long to figure out how to make the wall.

I think it just took me a moment to truly focus on it, that’s about it. Reinforcing it with more of the power also made quite the difference in its durability.

She’s definitely a strong mage so I don’t think it’ll be as easy as I thought after all.

Mages do have a limit to how much they can use, at least most of the time. They do need breathers or rely on mana potions to get back the strength they need.

So it is a lot like I was thinking it was. You had to do that in games I grew up with as well... It makes complete sense to me now.

Though, she will still be pretty damn strong with the spells she’s capable of using already. I think she might also have a few tricks up her sleeve too since she was with that art guy.

He was also capable of using a few tricks to fight against me but luckily he didn’t expect me to come back from the dead.

"Rokuro you can do it!" Mari cheers for me in the distance.

I forgot all about Mari for a second there since it has been so quiet during the battle here... Damnit. I guess it’s not the worst thing in the world to have a woman like her cheering me on.

Maybe it’s the constant positivity that pisses me off with her since there’s nothing to be positive about here. This whole tower is terrible to travel through and nothing has been pleasant.

"Look at that, a woman cheering for you. At least that’s something." The red haired girl says while staring towards Mari.

The ice finally disappeared so it was time for me to finally make a move of my own.
