Chapter 107: Appetite
CHAPTER 107: CHAPTER 107: APPETITE
Jiang Xin stood there, smiling along with Lin Ye.
Thinking about how Lin Ye looked, he really was a bit too goofy, and with these people coming and going, if anyone saw their expressions, wouldn’t they take the two of them for fools?
Jiang Xin thought to herself, she wouldn’t want to be that childish.
If she were taken for a fool, she would truly be upset.
At this moment, there happened to be no one at the stall, after all, it was already half-past twelve.
The time to buy groceries for lunch had already passed, and typically, those who have three meals a day would have finished eating by now.
Naturally, not many people were shopping for things here.
Though Jiang Xin wasn’t a housewife, she knew the times for three meals a day well, so she was quite familiar with these things.
Taking advantage of the lack of foot traffic, she quickly glanced down at the lunch box in her hand.
The food hadn’t been left for too long, so it was still warm.
Eating it while it’s still hot was just right.
If she waited any longer and it got cold, there’d truly be no place in this market to heat up the food.
Even though the weather nowadays wasn’t cold at all, it could even be described as hot.
But if cold food went into her stomach, it would surely be unpleasant.
Moreover, even if cold food didn’t cause any problems, it would affect the taste.
Anyway, Jiang Xin didn’t like eating cold food.
So, she hurriedly handed the lunch box she was holding to Lin Ye and said:
"Here’s your food. I was worried about the time, so I asked the staff to pack up the food. We’ll eat right here."
After Jiang Xin finished speaking, she gestured for Lin Ye to take the lunch box, seeing as there were three dishes and a soup, divided into two portions, and though not heavy, it did start to weigh her down, making her arms sore from holding it for a long time.
She didn’t realize until she picked it up, how much weight it really had, and another minute or two, she would have had a hard time keeping it up.
Lin Ye didn’t understand the situation at first, but when he looked down and saw Jiang Xin’s hands trembling while holding the lunch boxes, he realized they must be quite heavy, considering there were that many.
Jiang Xin had bought three dishes and a soup and had the server equally divide each meal into two portions, totaling eight lunch boxes.
Jiang Xin held four in each hand, and with the soup’s weight, it definitely wasn’t light!
Seeing this, Lin Ye quickly took the lunch box from Jiang Xin’s hands.
Once he took it, he realized it was indeed quite heavy.
Thinking about Jiang Xin carrying food all the way from the restaurant for him made him feel a bit guilty.
He thought, with such a good boss, he must work harder to help her sell goods.
Because right now, he didn’t have anything else to repay Jiang Xin with; all he could do was work hard, helping her sell more goods and earn more money.
That way, at least Jiang Xin wouldn’t have to worry about money for a while.
Lin Ye had truly experienced what it was like to be without money, so from the bottom of his heart, he wanted to help Jiang Xin make more money.
He was moved, but as a man, despite having a lot to say, he still maintained a calm exterior.
He felt that speaking those words out loud would be a bit embarrassing.
He wasn’t good with words or expressing his true feelings, so he could only prove himself through actions.
He immediately took the lunch box from Jiang Xin’s hands, his eyes warming, thinking how lucky he was to have such a good boss.
Lin Ye thanked Jiang Xin, saying:
"Thank you, boss."
Noticing there were quite a few lunch boxes, with several dishes, he felt even more indebted.
He recalled Jiang Xin mentioning that she was worried about time, hence she didn’t eat at the State-owned Restaurant.
Instead, she packed everything up to eat with him at the market.
Lin Ye naturally understood Jiang Xin’s thoughtful intentions; she obviously didn’t want him to miss a meal and end up hungry, which was why she rushed so much.
He knew the town well enough; the distance from the market to the State-owned Restaurant wasn’t short, about a ten-minute walk.
Jiang Xin, a young girl, carrying so many lunch boxes filled with food, hurrying to the market, that must be exhausting.
Lin Ye said nothing but kept reminding himself that he must be diligent in the future when setting up a stall at the market.
He couldn’t let his boss give it her all while he slacked off.
If he did, he’d feel guilty.
Jiang Xin had no idea that delivering a meal could evoke so much reflection in Lin Ye.
If she knew, her feelings would undoubtedly be very complicated right now.
But at the moment, Jiang Xin couldn’t worry about anything else, thinking that the food had been packed for so long.
If they dawdled any longer without eating, it might get cold and affect the taste, making her trip to the State-owned Restaurant in vain.
Moreover, she had argued with that middle-aged man at the restaurant.
If the meal didn’t turn out well, wouldn’t all that arguing be for nothing?
So, after handing Lin Ye the lunch box, Jiang Xin immediately found a spot to use as a table.
Jiang Xin lived a rather rough life and didn’t care about those details.
So, she directly found a spot, put the lunch box there, squatted on the ground, and started eating with chopsticks.
Without even a stool, in an outdoor setting, yet it didn’t affect her appetite at all.
To say the least, Jiang Xin had some ability to find joy in hardship. Although conditions were quite tough, her mood instantly improved knowing the goods sold well today.
No one ever feels unhappy about making money.
Furthermore, her initial reason for setting up a stall at the market was to earn money.
Now that the goods sold well, wasn’t that a good beginning?
