CHAPTER 55: CHAPTER 55: I WON’T EAT YOU TONIGHT

Yvonne York walked slowly into the office, dressed in an elegant white dress, her long hair down, exuding a gentle and captivating aura. There was a hint of grievance in her gaze as she looked straight at Caden Hawthorne.

"Caden, I heard about you as soon as I returned to the country. Why didn’t you tell me you got married?" Yvonne York’s voice trembled slightly.

Caden Hawthorne stood up, his expression indifferent. "This is my private matter, there’s no need to report it to you."

Yvonne York bit her lip, tears welling up in her eyes. "We had so many beautiful memories together, how can you be so unfeeling? What’s so good about that woman that you’d marry her, throwing everything else aside?"

Caden Hawthorne frowned slightly, his tone even colder. "This doesn’t concern you. I’m already married, please stop bothering me."

Yvonne York looked at Caden Hawthorne with unwillingness, tears slipping down her cheeks. "Caden, you’ll regret it. That woman is not worthy of you at all."

After speaking, she turned and ran out of the office. Caden Hawthorne watched her departing figure without a ripple in his heart.

Caden Hawthorne sat back in his chair, rubbing the bridge of his nose.

"President Hawthorne, your relationship with your wife is probably thoroughly publicized this time," Bryan Coleman couldn’t help but say.

Caden Hawthorne slightly raised his eyes, his expression calm. "If it’s publicized, then it’s publicized. I wasn’t planning on hiding it forever."

Bryan Coleman hesitated for a moment and then said, "But those competitors might capitalize on this, especially given the sensitive state of the company right now."

Caden Hawthorne sneered, "If they dare to act recklessly, I’ll make sure they know the consequences."

Bryan Coleman said no more; he knew once Caden Hawthorne decided on something, he wouldn’t be easily swayed.

Besides, Caden Hawthorne believed he could protect his wife and family.

Hartswell Manor

Caden Hawthorne was busy handling company matters and didn’t return home until very late.

At that time, Vivian Lynch was already asleep in bed.

Caden Hawthorne entered her room, sat beside the bed, and watched her sleeping face, unable to resist reaching out to touch her cheek.

In her dreams, Vivian Lynch seemed to sense a touch, and slowly opened her eyes.

Vivian Lynch saw Caden Hawthorne, eyes filled with delight. "Caden, you’re back."

Caden Hawthorne looked at her tenderly and said in a soft voice, "Did I wake you? Go back to sleep."

Vivian Lynch shook her head, sitting up. "How did things go at the company?"

Caden Hawthorne didn’t want her to worry and smiled as he said, "Don’t worry, it’s all been handled."

Vivian Lynch looked at his tired face, feeling heartache. "You must be so tired."

Caden Hawthorne held her hand, kissed it softly, "As long as I see you, I’m not tired."

Vivian Lynch blushed, then sat up with concern written on her face, "Did you have dinner? Are you hungry, I’ll fix you something!"

Caden Hawthorne stopped Vivian Lynch, shaking his head, "No need, I’m not hungry. It’s so late, rest well, there’s no need to fuss."

Vivian Lynch insisted, "You’ve been busy all day, how can you not be hungry? I’ll make something quick, it’ll be ready soon."

Caden Hawthorne couldn’t refuse her, so he smiled and agreed, "Alright then, thank you for the trouble."

The two of them went downstairs, Vivian Lynch let Caden Hawthorne sit at the dining table while she quietly went into the kitchen, afraid to make noise and wake Mrs. Hawthorne and Riley Hawthorne upstairs who were asleep.

She opened the fridge, finding some simple ingredients. She decided to make egg noodles, quick yet nutritious.

Soon, a steaming bowl of egg noodles was ready. Vivian Lynch cautiously carried the noodles back to the room.

"Caden, try this." Vivian Lynch placed the noodles on the table, looking at Caden Hawthorne expectantly.

Caden Hawthorne watched Vivian Lynch busying herself for him and felt deeply moved.

He picked up the chopsticks, tasting a bite of the noodles.

"How is it? Tasty?" Vivian Lynch sat opposite him, looking at him expectantly.

Caden Hawthorne nodded slightly, "Delicious, it’s the best noodles I’ve ever eaten."

On hearing this, Vivian Lynch blushed, "Egg noodles are quick yet nutritious, as long as you don’t mind."

"As long as it’s made by my wife, how could I mind?" Caden Hawthorne smiled warmly, looking directly at her.

Vivian Lynch felt slightly uncomfortable under his gaze, she smiled, "As long as you don’t mind, I’ll make it for you whenever you’re hungry, no matter how late."

"Alright." Caden Hawthorne smiled and finished the egg noodles Vivian Lynch made.

Late at night, Caden Hawthorne showered and came out of the bathroom, heading to Vivian Lynch’s room.

At the moment, Vivian Lynch was lying in bed looking at her phone, chatting with Stella Fletcher via WeChat.

[Stella Fletcher: Vivian, how are things progressing with your husband?]

[Vivian Lynch: So-so!]

[Stella Fletcher: Are you asleep?]

Seeing these three words, Vivian Lynch’s mind flashed to the scene from that night, her face instantly turning red.

As Caden Hawthorne walked in, he noticed Vivian Lynch’s flushed face, "Why is your face so red?"

Vivian Lynch, startled by Caden Hawthorne’s sudden appearance, couldn’t hold onto her phone, dropping it on the bed.

"Caden, why didn’t you knock before coming in? You scared me."

Caden Hawthorne’s gaze landed on her phone, "I saw you absorbed in your phone—who are you messaging at this hour?"

Vivian Lynch saw the screen was still lit, afraid Caden Hawthorne might see it, she hurriedly picked up the phone, nervously saying, "Just, just a friend."

"A friend?" Caden Hawthorne raised his eyebrows, "Male or female?"

Vivian Lynch quickly said, "Female, you’ve met her before, my best friend Stella Fletcher."

Upon hearing this, Caden Hawthorne didn’t overthink it, just nodded slightly, reaching out to pull Vivian Lynch into his arms.

"It’s so late, you should sleep, it’s not good for the baby."

Vivian Lynch lay in Caden Hawthorne’s embrace, saying, "I know, I’ll sleep now."

Caden Hawthorne looked at her tenderly, planted a gentle kiss on her forehead. "Sleep, goodnight."

After speaking, Caden Hawthorne lay down directly.

Seeing Caden Hawthorne lying beside her, Vivian Lynch furrowed her brows slightly, "Aren’t you going back to your room to sleep?"

Caden Hawthorne held Vivian Lynch tighter, his lips curling slightly upward, "No, from now on, I’ll sleep here."

Vivian Lynch blushed, pushing him slightly, "No way, it’s not proper."

Caden Hawthorne remained indifferent, "In this house, I make the rules. What’s proper or not proper?"

Vivian Lynch sighed helplessly, "If mom sees, she’ll misunderstand."

Caden Hawthorne chuckled softly, "Let her misunderstand, we’re already married, what reason is there for a married couple to sleep apart?"

Vivian Lynch couldn’t argue with him, so she let him lie beside her.

Caden Hawthorne couldn’t help but hold her hand, softly saying, "Go to sleep! I’m tired, I won’t ’eat’ you tonight."

Upon hearing this, Vivian Lynch’s face instantly turned red, "Caden Hawthorne, you..."
