Chapter 74: You Truly Deserve to Be the Champion
CHAPTER 74: CHAPTER 74: YOU TRULY DESERVE TO BE THE CHAMPION
Caden Hawthorne’s gaze suddenly turned icy as he scanned the people around him, finally resting his eyes on Yara York. "Yara, it was you who did this, wasn’t it?"
Yara quickly shook her head in denial, "Not me, Caden, how can you suspect me?"
Caden coldly snorted, "Besides you, who else would do such a thing? You were closest to Vivian just now, and I remember you clearly had a pearl bracelet on your wrist too. If it wasn’t you, where’s your bracelet?"
"I..." Yara was momentarily at a loss for words and instinctively clenched the hand with the bracelet tightly.
Vivian looked at the somewhat guilty Yara and couldn’t help but show doubt on her face, "Yeah! You had a pearl bracelet on your wrist too. Where’s your bracelet? Was it intentional? You know very well I’m pregnant; I can’t afford to fall. Yara, you’re so cruel! These pearls must have been deliberately scattered by you."
"No, it wasn’t me." Yara hurriedly waved her hands, indicating she was not the one who did it.
Silas Everett directly grabbed her wrist and revealed her arm.
"Everyone, please look, this Miss York no longer has that pearl bracelet on her wrist. Clearly, these pearls on the floor are ones she deliberately dropped."
Upon hearing this, the people around began to discuss it among themselves.
Yara still wanted to continue arguing, but Yvonne York pulled her, shaking her head at her, "Yara, stop lying. Caden has already figured it out, just admit it."
Seeing that things were exposed, Yara had no choice but to lower her head and say, "Alright, the pearl bracelet was mine, but I didn’t do it on purpose, I didn’t know it would suddenly break."
Upon hearing this, Caden coldly smirked, "Yara, do you think I would believe that?"
Vivian nodded in agreement, "Exactly, how can such a coincidence happen? It would break neither sooner nor later but right when I’m on stage."
Silas also launched a questioning attack, "Miss York, since these pearls fell from your bracelet, why didn’t you dare to admit it earlier? Or perhaps you are guilty of theft?"
Faced with everyone’s questioning, before Yara could speak, Yvonne hurriedly shielded her and apologized, "Caden, I’m sorry, it was Yara’s foolishness. She got confused for a moment, that’s why she did such a thing. Please forgive her."
"The one who should apologize is not me, but my wife." Caden said coldly, angrily, "Thankfully, it was only a close call; what if something happened to my wife and the child in her belly?"
Saying this, Caden’s gaze became sharp, glaring at the sisters with a tone full of warning, "I, Caden Hawthorne, will make the York family pay dearly."
Yvonne and Yara were frightened pale by Caden’s words. Yara was trembling with her body full of fear in her eyes.
"Caden, we realized our mistakes. Miss Lynch, I’m sorry, it’s my fault for not fulfilling my responsibility as an elder sister to advise my younger sister." Yvonne bowed her head, humbly pleaded with Vivian on behalf of Yara.
"Sis, what are you doing?" Yara looked at her sister with a puzzled expression.
Yvonne hurriedly grabbed her arm, "Yara, don’t say anything, hurry up and apologize to Miss Lynch."
Although Yara was a hundred times unwilling, when she met Caden’s icy gaze, she chose to swallow her pride and apologize to Vivian: "I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have done this. Please forgive me."
Vivian looked at Yara, though angry, she didn’t want to blow things out of proportion.
She glanced at Caden and said, "Caden, let’s just let it go. Since she’s admitted her mistake, let’s not pursue it further."
Caden frowned, evidently reluctant to easily let Yara off the hook.
Yet he didn’t want to go against Vivian’s wishes, so he said, "This time, as a favor to Vivian, I won’t hold it against you. But if it happens again, I definitely won’t spare you."
Yvonne and Yara nodded repeatedly, assuring they wouldn’t repeat the mistake.
Caden ignored them and supported Vivian, ensuring she got safely on stage.
When Vivian once again took to the stage, the audience burst into enthusiastic applause.
She accepted the certificate and prize from the organizers, took a deep breath, and holding the microphone, began her speech.
"Honored guests, judges, friends, hello everyone. I am Vivian Lynch, deeply grateful for everyone’s recognition and support for my work. To be able to stand here today, I feel incredibly honored and excited. During this journey, I’ve gone through many challenges and difficulties, but I’ve never given up. I believe that as long as you persist in your dreams and strive for excellence, you can definitely achieve your goals."
Vivian’s speech elicited applause throughout the venue. Her eyes were full of confidence and hope, and the limitless joy she felt.
Her efforts had not been in vain; she had succeeded and proved she was outstanding.
The Sutton Group.
Riley Hawthorne was filled with joy and pride after watching Vivian’s wonderful performance at the jewelry competition. She couldn’t wait to share the good news with Zachary Sutton.
Carrying her phone, Riley eagerly entered Zachary’s office. "President Sutton, did you see my sister-in-law’s performance at the jewelry competition? She was amazing!"
Zachary slightly raised the corners of his mouth, showing appreciation in his eyes. "I saw it, Vivian Lynch is indeed remarkable. Your sister-in-law’s talent is admirable."
Riley said excitedly, "Yes, my sister-in-law has always worked hard. This time her winning first place is truly deserved."
Zachary nodded, "Her success is not only due to her talent but also her persistence and effort."
"Exactly! Today’s jewelry competition was exciting, first Sinclair Group plagiarized my sister-in-law’s work, then Yara messed things up, nearly causing my sister-in-law to fall. Thankfully, it ended without incident." Riley said, visibly angry, "I’ll make sure to give them a good beating when I see them next, to vent for my sister-in-law."
Upon hearing this, Zachary smiled helplessly, "Vent for your sister-in-law? Your brother will handle that. You’ve watched the show already; shouldn’t you get back to work now?"
"Okay, President Sutton." Riley, full of smiles, saluted Zachary.
Riley turned around and left the office, returning to her role.
It was clear she was in good spirits, and Zachary also smiled.
Meanwhile, at the jewelry competition site, after finishing her speech, Vivian left the venue with Caden. They walked hand in hand, smiles of happiness on their faces.
"Vivian, you were amazing today," Caden said.
Vivian smiled faintly, happiness shining in her eyes, "I owe it to all of you for the help and encouragement I received. Thanks to your support by my side, I could earn first place."
Upon hearing this, Caden gently caressed her cheek with his hand, smiling softly, "This is your own merit; your sincerity and hard work gave this jewelry competition meaning. So, you are truly deserving of the championship."
