Chapter 83: Caden, I’m So Afraid
CHAPTER 83: CHAPTER 83: CADEN, I’M SO AFRAID
The doctor took off his mask and said, "The patient’s condition is relatively stable for now, but we still need further tests to determine the effects of the injected medication on the fetus. Fortunately, not much was injected, but rest assured, we will do our best to treat her."
Caden Hawthorne was visibly anxious and quickly said, "Doctor, no matter what means you use, you must ensure the safety of my wife and the child she’s carrying."
Mrs. Hawthorne and Riley Hawthorne nodded quickly on the side, "Yes! Doctor."
The doctor nodded solemnly, "Mr. Hawthorne, we will certainly do our utmost. We will now arrange a series of detailed exams to determine the exact composition of the medication and the extent of its effects on the pregnant woman and the fetus. Please rest assured, our hospital has a professional medical team and advanced equipment and will make every effort to ensure the safety of your wife and child."
As soon as he finished speaking, the doctor entered the operating room again.
Caden Hawthorne waited anxiously outside the operating room, every minute feeling extremely long.
He kept praying in his heart, hoping that Vivian Lynch and the child would be alright.
Zachary Sutton was also accompanying Caden Hawthorne, trying to alleviate his tension, "Caden, don’t worry too much, good people have good fortune, I’m sure everything will be fine."
Caden Hawthorne nodded slightly, but the anxiety in his eyes remained unchanged.
After a long wait, the door to the operating room opened once again.
The doctor came out and walked in front of Caden Hawthorne, "Mr. Hawthorne, after examination, your wife and the fetus are currently not in immediate danger. But we need to continue observing for a period to ensure that the medication does not cause adverse effects later."
Caden Hawthorne finally felt some relief, "Alright, thank you, doctor. Please make sure to closely monitor my wife’s condition."
After the doctor nodded in agreement and left, a nurse soon pushed Vivian Lynch out from inside.
"Vivian..." Caden Hawthorne and the others immediately rushed over.
At this moment, Vivian Lynch was still in a coma.
"The patient needs to go to the ward immediately, may the family members please make way," the medical staff indicated for a passage to be cleared as they pushed the gurney.
Everyone nodded and eagerly followed into the ward.
In the ward, Vivian Lynch lay quietly on the bed, her face still somewhat pale. Caden Hawthorne sat by the bedside, tightly holding her hand, with a gaze full of heartache and worry.
Mrs. Hawthorne and Riley Hawthorne also showed deep concern.
Mrs. Hawthorne gently sighed, "Vivian has really suffered, I hope she can recover quickly."
Riley Hawthorne nodded, "Yes, brother, don’t worry too much, I’m sure she’ll be okay."
Caden Hawthorne nodded slightly, but remained silent, focusing on Vivian Lynch.
He involuntarily clenched his fists, turning to the silent Zachary Sutton, speaking coldly, "Have you found out who is behind this?"
Zachary Sutton quickly responded, "Still investigating, we’ve captured two of the people who kidnapped your wife and are interrogating them tightly, but they refuse to reveal who’s behind it."
"Then find a way to make them talk!" Caden Hawthorne’s face was cold, a glimpse of killing intent in his eyes, "Daring to harm my wife, I want them to pay the price!"
"Yes, Master Hawthorne." Zachary Sutton nodded and left the hospital.
Time ticked away slowly but Vivian Lynch showed no signs of waking up.
Caden Hawthorne was burning with anxiety, yet didn’t dare leave even for a second, afraid to miss the moment she woke up, and sent Riley Hawthorne and Mrs. Hawthorne home, staying behind to take care of her.
Just then, the door to the ward was softly pushed open and Silas Everett walked in holding a bouquet of carnations.
"Mr. Hawthorne..."
Caden Hawthorne sternly watched Silas Everett enter, furrowing his brow, "What are you doing here?"
Silas Everett’s gaze fell on Vivian Lynch lying on the bed.
He slightly curled his lips, revealing a gentle smile, "I heard Miss Lynch was injured, so I made a special visit. I have no other intentions, just wanted to express my concern."
Caden Hawthorne’s eyes were filled with caution, "I don’t need your concern, you can leave now."
Silas Everett was unconcerned about Caden Hawthorne’s attitude, placing the carnations on the bedside table, saying softly, "There’s no need for such defensiveness, Mr. Hawthorne. I have no malicious intentions towards Miss Lynch."
Caden Hawthorne looked at him coldly, "Whatever your motive is, stay away from my wife."
Silas Everett shrugged, "Alright, since I’m not welcome, I’ll go now. I hope Miss Lynch recovers soon."
After saying this, Silas Everett turned and left the ward. Caden Hawthorne watched his departure, filled with doubt.
What exactly is Silas Everett’s purpose? Why is he so focused on Vivian Lynch?
Caden Hawthorne’s gaze fell back onto Vivian Lynch’s pale face, filled with tenderness. He gently caressed her hand, silently praying for her to wake up soon.
Time passed second by second, and as night slowly descended, Caden Hawthorne remained by Vivian Lynch’s side, not leaving an inch. His eyes were bloodshot, yet showed no trace of fatigue.
Suddenly, Vivian Lynch’s fingers twitched.
Caden Hawthorne immediately grew tense, staring intently at her. He saw her eyelids quiver softly before slowly opening.
"Vivian! You’re awake!" Caden Hawthorne exclaimed with trembling voice as he held her hand excitedly.
Vivian Lynch looked at Caden Hawthorne, her eyes still confused. "Caden... where am I?"
Caden Hawthorne answered gently, "You’re in the hospital, don’t worry, the doctor said you and the baby are fine."
Upon hearing this, Vivian Lynch instinctively touched her belly, tears in her eyes, "Thank goodness, the baby’s fine, I’m fine too."
After saying this, Vivian Lynch embraced Caden Hawthorne, feeling his warmth and safety, saying with lingering fear, "Caden, I was so scared."
Caden Hawthorne gently patted her back, comforting her, "Don’t be afraid, I’m here. I won’t let anyone harm you again."
Then Caden Hawthorne couldn’t help but ask, "Vivian, why did those people kidnap you? Do you remember?"
Vivian Lynch recalled the previous events, feeling a wave of fear, shaking her head in confusion, "I don’t know either, they seemed to be targeting the baby I am carrying."
Caden Hawthorne clenched his fists, a hint of coldness in his eyes, "I will definitely find out and make them pay the price."
Vivian Lynch suddenly thought of something, quickly grabbing Caden Hawthorne’s hand and said, "Caden, I remember now, it was Jessica Hart."
"Are you saying Jessica Hart was the one who ordered them to kidnap you?" Caden Hawthorne’s eyes were filled with surprise.
Vivian Lynch nodded, "Yes, it was her, she admitted it herself. Sean Sinclair broke up with her, and she took out her grudge on me, wanting to harm our child."
