From Villain to Cherished: Counter My Role by Pampering Kids
Chapter 141: Lu Yun Calls
CHAPTER 141: CHAPTER 141: LU YUN CALLS
The old lady chuckled, "It’s okay."
"If you get a chance, come over to my house for a meal. We have a cook at home."
It’s fine if the granddaughter-in-law can’t cook; they’ll have someone special to do it for them in the future.
**
Lu Family’s old house.
Lu Anguo hadn’t seen his mother all day today.
He was a bit puzzled.
Usually, he always found his mother sitting in the living room reading the newspaper, but today there was no sign of her.
And he had sneezed multiple times throughout the day, which was quite odd.
He asked the servant, "Where’s the old madam?"
The servant shook her head, "Sir, we don’t know either."
At that moment, Lu Guansheng walked in.
"Brother, where did Mom go today? Haven’t seen her all day."
"How should I know?" Lu Anguo replied.
Lu Guansheng suddenly said, "Oh no, Mom probably went off on her own to find those three kids."
Lu Anguo said, "Should I go look for Mom?"
"You better not. If Lu Yun finds out, he’ll definitely be upset with you."
Lu Anguo was speechless.
Being a father to this extent is quite challenging.
**
After dinner, the old lady asked her name.
They chatted.
"Xingwan, you’ve probably had a tough time taking care of them all these years, haven’t you?"
Su Xingwan laughed, "It hasn’t been tough. I genuinely enjoy being with them."
The old lady gazed at her, understanding that a mother’s love makes any hardship feel less harsh.
She continued, "What are you doing now?"
"I’m currently working as an actress, and I also do video shoots part-time for my accounts."
Upon hearing this, the old lady said, "That sounds tiring."
Thinking of her managing three children alongside two jobs, the old lady concluded this girl must have endured a lot.
Su Xingwan was unaware of the old lady’s thoughts.
She added, "Grandma Cai, it’s getting late now. Should I help you contact the police station? Your family must be worried about you at home."
The old lady: "No need, Xingwan. I remembered everything while having dinner."
Su Xingwan took out her phone, "Do you remember your family’s phone number?"
"Yes, yes," said the old lady.
She then used her phone to call someone.
"My family’s servant will come to pick me up soon; thanks for today."
Su Xingwan replied, "You’re welcome. By the way, I’ll return this bracelet to you—no need to pawn it with me."
As she was about to take off the jade bracelet from her wrist, an aged hand gently held hers.
The old lady stopped her, "No need, Xingwan. Consider this bracelet a gift; we will meet again."
Su Xingwan was puzzled by her words.
Pondering the identity of this old lady.
She asked, "Grandma Cai, do you know us?"
After spending a short time together, she found this elderly woman to be quite amiable.
The old lady froze.
Had her eldest granddaughter-in-law discovered her so quickly?
Wondering if she would help maintain her secret from Lu Yun.
"I just feel you’re very likable," chuckled the old lady.
The three little ones, having finished their showers, emerged from their room: "Is Grandma leaving?"
"Yes, she’s leaving. Let’s go downstairs to see her off!"
"Okay!"
Upon hearing this, the three little ones hurriedly went to the entrance to put on their shoes, then followed their aunt outside.
A luxurious car was parked downstairs.
The Lu family’s butler stepped out of the car.
He glanced at Su Xingwan and the children standing beside her, feeling surprised.
The old lady sure moved quickly; she had already met the eldest young master’s children.
After the old lady got into the car.
The three little ones shouted, "Goodbye, Grandma!"
"Goodbye!" The old lady waved to them with a kind smile.
Once the car drove away, only then did Su Xingwan take the three little ones back upstairs.
At that moment, her phone rang.
She saw it was a call from Lu Yun.
An unusual look crossed her eyes.
Upon answering, a deep voice came from the other end.
"Did an old lady just come looking for you?"
"Yes, is she from your family?"
"Yes, she’s my grandmother."
Su Xingwan was surprised, "No wonder she was acting strangely today."
The person on the other end chuckled softly.
"I knew you’d figure it out."
Su Xingwan listened to his laughter and instinctively rubbed her fingers together.
"Right, earlier your grandmother gave me a bracelet. When you have time, I’ll return it to you."
"No need, if she gave it to you, it’s yours to wear."
As if aware of what she might say next, he added, "She might come to trouble you occasionally, consider it a reward for the inconvenience."
Su Xingwan fell silent.
He seemed to increasingly understand her.
"Your grandma is really nice, quite down-to-earth, and she really likes the three little ones."
"Yes, she’s just a regular old lady. Her biggest wish now is to have great-grandchildren."
Su Xingwan smiled.
Lu Yun said, "If you have the time, would you be willing to bring the three little ones to visit the Lu family?"
"Of course. After all, the three little ones are your brother’s kids; they should meet your side of the family."
Lu Yun said nothing.
The two fell into a brief silence.
Unsure of what to say, Su Xingwan thought of ending the call.
Then she heard him say.
"Well..."
Suddenly, the voices of the three little ones entered the call.
"Auntie, are you talking to Uncle?"
Su Xingwan looked at them, noting they were still awake.
"Yes, do you want to talk to your uncle?"
"Yes!" came the loud reply from the two little ones.
So she switched to speaker mode.
"Go ahead and chat."
She placed the phone on the bedside table so they could converse.
Little Su Hua spoke first.
"Uncle, I’ve drawn another picture of a mermaid and a prince; this one is for Uncle Ye. When are you and Uncle Ye coming over to play?"
Hearing Hua Bao mention the painting made Su Xingwan feel a tad awkward.
She wondered if Mr. Lu knew what Little Su Hua had drawn.
"Once Uncle has some free time, I’ll bring Uncle Ye to your house, alright?"
"Okay! Uncle, I’ll be waiting for you!"
Afterwards, Little Su Luo also began talking non-stop to Uncle.
Children, in their innocence, were unfamiliar with awkwardness, and their mouths moved continuously like engines.
Seeing they could chat endlessly, Su Xingwan slipped out to use the restroom.
During this, Little Su Yan whispered, "Uncle, can you buy me a laptop?"
"Uncle, we want one too," they softly voiced, careful not to let a certain person overhear.
Lu Yun replied, "Is your aunt not with you?"
The three little ones responded in amazement, "Uncle, how do you know? Are you Superman?"
Lu Yun chuckled, "What can you possibly keep from me?"
"Uncle, you’re as awesome as Auntie; our secrets Auntie knows them all!"
"So, uncle, will you buy us laptops?"
"If your aunt buys them, then Uncle will buy them for you,"
The three little ones looked disappointed.
Why do you uncles always listen to Auntie?
Uncle Ye says the same thing!
