From Your Backup to His Beloved

Molly was too lonely. She wished she could keep me there.
However, I only had two days of leave. To apany her, I asked Bryson for another two
days off.
However, all good things muste to an end. I had to go.
Molly filled my cup with dew–brewed coffee. She even filled my bag with food steamed with
pollen and petals. She wished she could give me all her best.
I knew she liked me very much, and her liking made me feel an indescribable sense of
responsibility.
“Miss,e and see me when you have time.” Molly did not look at me as she spoke.
She had tears in her eyes and didn’t want me to see them.
She was a girl with a weak but strong heart.
“Yes.” I didn’t dare say more because I also felt a lump in my throat.
I was afraid I would make her cry first.
Parting was like the softest knife in the world, but it hurt the most.
“I’ve asked a friend to contact the doctor for you. When it’s done, I’lle with Jash to pick
you up.” I gave Molly a new hope when I finally hugged her.
“Okay, I’ll wait for you, Miss.” Molly’s words were the best encouragement for me.
So I sent another message to bJasmine /bon my way back. She wanted me to get off the ne and go straight to her.
I took the train when I went there but took the ne when I went back. I kept sleeping, and my dreams were filled with the scenes of being with Molly those few days.
Together, we picked flowers, washed clothes, rinsed things in the river, andy on a bed, chatting.
The flight attendant called me when it was time to get off the ne. It was already evening

when the nended. I took a taxi back but didn’t go home. Instead, I went to the auto repair shop to get my car.
My cell phone rang before I reached the auto repair shop. It was Alvin.
Alvin had stopped pestering me since his official announcement with Thea. Now he was probably looking for me for something.
I picked up the phone. Before I could say anything, Alvin asked me, “Did my father’s hair
turn white overnight?”
His question made my nerves shrink. It happened a few days ago. Did he just find out?
Moreover, he asked me, which proved he had not met Peter.
I didn’t know what words to use to express the anger in my heart.
“Zoe, say something,” he asked me urgently.
“What should I say? If you want to know, why don’t you go and take a look yourself?” I
scolded.
My good temper, which had been nurtured by nature at Molly’s ce, was beaten back to its original point by Alvin’s words.

Alvin was silent. I was about to hang up when I heard him say, “My parents don’t let me go
home now.”
‘Serves you right!‘ Those words exploded in my mind.
“Zoe, I’m now deserted by everyone.” Alvin’s voice was lonely.
However, I did not sympathize. Instead, I mocked, “It is your choice.”
“Yes, I deserve it,” he said with a self–deprecating sneer.
He still had self–awareness.
“Zoe, is my father extremely disappointed in me now?” He asked a stupid question.
Peter’s hair had turned white overnight because of him, and that was more bthan /bjust disappointment.

It was heartache, helplessness, anger, and grief that only Peter understood.

Although Alvin previously said his parents treated him and Philip equally, I know best that they prefer Alvin as a bystander.
However, Alvin had disappointed them greatly.
“Zoe, can I ask you for a favor?” It was rare for Alvin to have such a soft pleading side.
