Audrey turned around and said, “Then, I want to see what equipment you have purchased. But I just asked the person loading the truck, and they said your equipment only fills one truck.”
She faintly smiled, turned, and walked toward the front of the truck being unloaded.
Josie was about to follow, but was stopped by Jaden.
“The Reedshaw family has no shame,” said Jaden. “I had to call in a favor with the Clem family to find an equipment supplier, and you got all the benefits for free. Josie, shouldn’t you at least say thanks to me?”
“You don’t have to be arrogant!” Josie was about to be amused by him.
How could Jaden have the nerve to say that? He used a favor to ask the Clem family for help. Obviously, he was taking advantage of the Clem family owing favours to the Jiznev family. He went to press them, bringing Yvonne along. He had better not think she didn’t know.
It was because of the matter that Lindsey smashed the coffee pot. Later, Colby recounted the incident to Sean, saying that if they had not delivered Sven’s contact information that day, Lindsey, Colby’s aunt, might not have been able to enjoy the New Year.
Josie looked at Jaden as if he were an idiot, saying, “Move out of the way!”
“You…” Vincent pulled Jaden back, signaling him to restrain his temper. However, how could Jaden possibly swallow the insult?
“Did I say something wrong?” said Jaden. “The Reedshaw family’s business does not involve foreign trade. Even if they intend to invest in your research this time, they can’t find a way to buy equipment. Do you still dare to say this isn’t taking advantage?”
Josie fixed her gaze on him.
She wondered how she had never realized before that Jaden could be so shameless—insisting on taking credit for their ability to acquire equipment, and

even going so far as to practically beg her to say thanks.
It was interesting!

Josie had no intention of speaking to Jaden, the idiot. As she turned to leave, she was stopped by an older woman.
“Youngdy, that is impolite of you!” Hadley looked at Josie with a smile that was not quite a smile.
Hadley had often heard Natalie say that a female ssmate named Josie Pearson always bullies her at school.
It was precisely because Natalie was admitted to David’s team that Josie was squeezed out.
Hadley initially assumed Josie was the heiress of a prominent family, someone bold enough to bully even Natalie. It was onlyter that she learned Josie was, in fact, a poor country girl.
‘Even a mere country girl dares to bully Natalie. Who gave her such nerve!‘ thought Hadley.
Hadley was considering how to stand up for Natalie when the opportunity unexpectedly presented itself. She had heard Jaden call out to Josie, so it seemed that the impolite girl before her was Josie Pearson.
“Politeness is not for everyone!” Josie looked at Hadley, neither arrogant nor
servile.
She was acquainted with Hadley Rogers, who was responsible for personnel file management at the research institute. Hadley’s husband was the former director of the institute and was now retired. Notably, there was a twenty–year age
difference between her and her husband.
In Josie’s previous life, Hadley frequently assisted Natalie in targeting her. During the years she spent at the research institute, nearly all of the dirtiest and most exhausting tasks were assigned to her by Hadley.
Hadley was even imed, under the guise of good intentions, that those actions were intended to help Josie establish herself within the research institute and

facilitate her eptance by colleagues. After all, she was a country girl, cking any background or connections in this big city.
It was ridiculous. Did Josie have to rely on sweeping floors and wiping tables to establish herself in the research institute?
Hadley had not expected Josie would dare to talk back to her. After all, she was a leader at the research institute. Even if Josie did not know Hadley, could she not see the respectful attitude of those nearby?
Hadley said, “The Monroe family contributed both financially and through their efforts to the research institute’s new equipment. As the fully authorized representative appointed by the Monroe family, Jaden had been busy coordinating with suppliers and foreign tradepanies.”
She took a step forward, her eyes cold as she added, “Regardless of how much the Reedshaw family benefited, your team was able to acquire the equipment so smoothly. Shouldn’t you say thanks?”
“Absurd!” Lindsey stepped out of the car, her expression displeased as she quickly walked to Josie’s side and pulled her behind herself to shield her.
