Josie regained herposure and smiled. “I am pleased that you are willing to help me. Let’s return to the research institute now; I happen to have something to discuss with Dr. Markey.”

“Wait a moment, I ordered you a small cake. Have some before we go.” Just then, the small cake was served. Ian gently pushed it towards Josie.

Josie loved sweet treats. Perhaps because her childhood was too bitter, she had a fondness for sugary things.

But right now, she had no interest in the cake before her. Compared to a small cake, she was more eager to get to the research institute and finalize the small research topic.

“I’m done eating. Ian, please pack it up and take it with you. You can have it if you get hungry this afternoon.” Josie took the box, packed the food, and stuffed it directly into Ian’s arms.

Then, without waiting for him to say anything further, she picked up her bag and left the café.

Her actions were smooth and fluid, without a single pause, as if she were afraid that sitting down to eat would dy their trip to the institute.

But how many minutes could it possibly dy? She clearly had no intention of spending a few extra minutes with him; her mind and heart were entirely on the small research topic.

Ian couldn’t help butugh in exasperation at her. She truly had no idea how to hide her thoughts. Even when she needed his help, she made no effort to change her attitude or try to ingratiate herself with him.

But somehow, it was precisely this innocence of hers that made Ian like her even more.

‘How innocent and straightforward she is!‘ he thought.

The application for the small research topic went smoothly. The first phase of this research experiment could bepleted in at most two months. That meant a new paper could be published by summer break!

Josie shared her thoughts on the experiment with Ian.

Ian grew increasingly uneasy. “This… doesn’t seem quite aligned with your major’s research direction, does it?”

Previously, at the café,n was so absorbed in his happiness that he overlooked this, but now, thinking about it, it felt a bit strange.

Josie smiled and said, “Ian, you forgot that I’m pursuing a double major. My focus is on acupuncture now. So, I’ll have to trouble you to put more effort into the research experiment.”

“No problem!” he said. She smiled at him. Jan was overjoyed, and he didn’t doubt her intentions in the slightest.

Josie secretly breathed a sigh of relief. She realized that Ian was innocent, warm–hearted, and straightforward.

After concluding the business discussion with Ian, Josie immediately went to Jannik.

Her visit to Dr. Markey was not an excuse; she genuinely had a proper business.

It was about Delh going to Jannik’s hospital to give a lecture.

This matter was initiated by Jannik. Delh had refused, but after Josie’s paper was published, Delh finally agreed.

They just hadn’t had time before. Now that she had some free time in the next couple of days, Delh asked Josie to finalize the schedule with Jannik.

After all, Josie was now not only Delh’s student but also her assistant.

Josie only returned to school after obtaining the process schedule from Jannik.

No sooner had she stepped off the bus than she saw a familiar figure–Yvonne.

Although she was reborn, she had only seen Yvonne once at the Clem estate’s gate; however, in her previous life, she had met Yvonne several times.

At that time, however, Josie didn’t know she was Yvonne.

After all, she knew Yvonne as Vincent’s wife, and Vincent treated her with particr care.

With her support, Vincent advanced rapidly in his career, attaining the position of director of the research institute within a few years ofpleting his graduate studies.
