‘I havee to understand Jeremy’s character somewhat these days. Delh has never interfered in the institute’s affairs.
‘To say they treat the institute as the Reedshaw family’s property is utterly absurd.
‘How could two such aplished, high–level professors be impressed by the unremarkable Josie? This girl must possess some genuine talent.
‘Furthermore, I am not sure how much truth there is in David’s words.
‘However, I don’t believe a single word from Audrey. Over the years, that woman has certainly taken advantage of me many times!‘
“You’re right!” Digby angrily mmed down his fork.
He said, “How can I, a senior researcher, be led by the nose by a young punk? Jeremy clearly doesn’t respect me.
“I’m going back right now to confront him. No one is going to interfere with my experiment.”
He made to stand up and leave.
Audrey and David exchanged nces. one blocked him while the other pulled him back.
Audrey said, “Digby, why the rush? What’s the point of that? With Jeremy’s disposition, do you really think he’ll take your side?”
Audrey snorted coldly. “After all these years, who does he truly respect besides his wife? Believe me, you’ll never reach your full potential working for him.
“How about joining Professor Lawson’s research team?”
David nodded. “I greatly admire you, Digby. If you agree, our mainboratory is yours.
“For every experiment from now on, your ideas will be my top priority.
“So, are you willing to join us?”
This truly was a very sincere invitation. They were so sincere that they’d given up their own opinions and werepletely prioritizing his ideas.
Essentially, they were handing all experiments over to him.
Digby thought, ‘So, what role will David y in these studies?
‘He can’t be thinking of taking all the credit in the end, can he?‘
Digby felt disdain inwardly but showed no sign of it, subtly waving Audrey’s hand away..
He asked, “How can that be? Jeremy looks down on me, and I’m determined to prove my capabilities to him.

“If I just leave like this, wouldn’t that make me aughingstock?
“Just wait. I’ll make Jeremy realize whether he should listen to me, or to some inexperienced girl, or to his wife.
“This is outrageous. Watch how I confront him!”
Digby looked furious, rolling up his sleeves as he left, not caring how much he had eaten or if the bill was settled.
The upstairs cafeteria was à carte and required payment, unlike the downstairs monthly card system. He rarely came up here.
Anyway, David and Audrey had invited him up, so Digby felt that they should pay.
Digby strode out of the cafeteria, his anger vanishing as an involuntary smile curved on his lips. He thought, ‘They think they can fool me? Not a chance.
‘Even if I want to go to a different team, this isn’t the time.
‘If Jeremy is truly as ipetent as they say, then I certainly can’t change teams right now. This is the best opportunity to prove my capability.‘
Digby happily returned to theb and, without hesitation, changed his original experimental method.
As soon as he left, Audrey was frustrated. “David, what does he mean by this?”
She thought, ‘Shouldn’t he have immediately requested a transfer to our team? Why does he need to go back and prove himself? Is something wrong with him?
“What future is there in following Jeremy? David’s team is clearly more promising.‘
David didn’t expect anyone to disrespect him like this.
He said, “No matter what he means, we’ve said what we needed to. If he can’t understand it, there’s nothing we can do.
“Since you’ve discovered that Josie has begun to interfere with the experiment, their progress is unlikely to be swift.
“Our top priority is to start our research as soon as possible!”
The Brown Group was not like the Monroe Group. David couldn’t disappoint them. He must ensure they see benefits by the end of the year at thetest.
His research had to seed.
